Sci-Fi Channel original series "Moonlight"

I’m a fan of Vampire fiction, books, TV, movies, whatever, so I’ve been sort of half-heartedly watching the Sci-Fi “Original Series” Moonlight

overall, I rate it a “Meh”, nothing more, at least the vamps in this show have fangs, and don’t get to “Demon-y” looking when their Beast manifests (just huge…sharp…pointy…teeth (HSPT) and glowy eyes), but I don’t know, I kinda liked the show better when it was called “Forever Knight” or even “Angel”, not seeing much originality here…

unless we get some attractive female vampires in the show as regular characters, I’ll lose interest quite rapidly…

apparently Newspaper Reporter Lady has a bit of a crush on Nick Knigh…err…Ange…err… Mick St. John, bit of a Fang Fetishist she is, it’s clear she wants a set of HSPT of her very own…

Meh, not worth watching, other than to kill time waiting for BSG…

Uh.

You know this is just the canceled CBS show, right? It’s 1 1/2 years old.

Whoosh?

Well, I don’t watch too much TV, basically BSG, Simpsons/Family Guy/American Dad, and the news, so no, I wasn’t aware that it was an older show

my “Meh” still stands, unoriginal and derivative

Scifi is calling it “original?” Huh.

Yeah, it’s derivative all over the place. So is every cop show. It’s a character show, and I happened to like the characters. Vampires are a dime a dozen, so only watch the show if you happen to like these vampires and characters in general. They grew on me, I liked them, and was sad to see the show get canceled. I’m pretty sure the writers’ strike had something to do with it.

I’m trying to watch it. (I have a bad habit of working Sudoku or Kakuro or crossword puzzles while watching TV, so I miss some things.)

So far, so good. Is his backstory now complete? Is the reporter the little girl in his flashbacks? Is she his daughter?

He did encounter her, and save her as a child, but no not her father. A romantic interest like that would be too skwicky, unless you’re reading an Anne Rice novel.

Definitely the premise (vampire detective!) seems derivative, but when the show was on network tv, I watched it, and thought they really managed to pull it off. I particularly liked the episodes involving his vampire ex wife.

Watched two episodes. Didn’t hated it, didn’t loved it.

But it was formulaic in more ways than just the premise: the second episode had one of the most blatant examples of “Random shifty-looking character who is casually introduced once to the protagonist while the only other new actors with speaking lines are clearly suspects and guess who the surprise villain was at the end. Yeah. Exactly” I’ve ever seen. Pretty unambitious writing there.
