Sci-fi-ish Football story, may be YA, what was it?

It came up in a Games thread about the NFL season, but I don’t remember what it was called.

Could be a short magazine story, or a novella, I don’t think it was very long.

Sci-fi type, maybe YA. Set in a RollerBall type of sports attitudes. Maybe written in the 1970s.

Two major game points:

Played in abandoned downtowns of cities.

A player called Hidden Safety was essentially a sniper. Allowed two bullets per game.

The story was told from the QB’s POV. I don’t remember any plot points, just what I posted above.

What was it? Was it actually any good?

Killerbowl.
It was pretty decent writing as I remember. I still have a copy but it’s been years since I read it.

That is it! I guess “Street Football” was what I needed to search for. Hidden Safety kept bringing up financial planning sites.

Thanks!
