I had actually been wondering whether “Scotch eggs” were truly Scotch as. I guess nothing definitive is there, but I love the description of nargis kofta, which seems to be a Scotch egg encased with lamb and served with curried tomato and onion. (Or, rather, the other way around, i.e., the Scotch egg is perhaps an adaptation of nargis kofta). That sounds quite nice.

A couple tasty variants are to subsitute about 1/3 of the pork with either black pudding or haggis.

Try quail eggs for the perfect bitesize treat.
