Saul was a religious Jew, and he said Jesus was the Christ.
OK, you win. Josephus wasn’t really Josephus. Was it a contemporary forger? Or a medieval hoax? Or what? I’m a little slow, I guess. I thought that most of the original people who said “He was the Christ” were religious Jews.
That’s about when I gave up.
Seconded! Outcast Unclean – and Unreadable!
I think this might be a good time to display my sig. It appears to be quite apropos (3 cents to Sauron).
Scott would claim to be right, based on an article like this (note the domain, which is almost as good as giantrobot):
I, however, am happy to admit that I was talking out my ass. Thanks for the correction!
Daniel
Thanks to you all. I’m new here, and this has been a fun and informative experience. Through the posts here, and by following links, I’ve learned a lot about how the board works, what kinds of people are here, and how discussions work (and don’t work). I’ve learned that there is no point in engaging in a discussion with Scott Plaid. I’ve never in my life encountered the amazing combination of proud, aggressive ignorance and verbal ineptness that he exhibits. He taught school? One shudders. I’ll probably wander away from this train wreck now (but morbid curiousity may draw me back). Thanks again to all.
Hah! Hardly. I clearly stated several posts above yours that I win. Also Duffer disagreed with me and as such the negative proves my positive. If you can’t grasp these simple debating points I really despair. Also from this site:“moose wins”.
Scott, have you yourself, ever been given the Turing test?
Just asking. I have my reasons.
Scott: you said there was but a sole reference to Jesus in one record.
That’s true. Perhaps Jesus was merely expelled from Rome, and never crucified.
So what? That’s still a historical record of the man’s existence.
It’s unclear to me what “Hah!” means. You’ve quoted a cite that confirms what I said: it’s a historical reference to Jesus. That’s two.
OK. The work may be a forgery. This is true, to a greater or lesser degree, of many works. But you can hardly deny that it’s a historical reference to Jesus.
You have drawn a conclusion that is not supported by the evidence.
You have made an assertion that is contradicted by the facts.
Read the history of 9066. It was prompted by racist fears of “Japanese” not of aliens.
The arguments used were to allow the military to set zones of security from which they could remove any persons that they did not trust (not limited to aliens).
The decisions of whom to remove were decided by ethnic ancestry, without any regard to nationality or place of birth–one’s status as an alien did not enter into the determination in any way.
The existence of “the act” (the Smith Alien Registration Act of 1940) played no part in the later decision to draw a line down the West Coast and imprison everyone of Japanese ancestry. It was not cited by Roosevelt in Executive Order 9066 (who did cite three other laws). It was not referenced by California Attorney General Warren or by General DeWitt(?) in their campaign to have such an order proclaimed.
In fact, on December 7, FDR issued three separate Executive Orders that were based on the Smith Act, one each for the Japanese, the Germans, and the Italians. The people named in those E.O.s were detained beginning on December 7 and the orders were considered to have been completed by December 9 with fewer than 2,000 people having been detained (about 1,200 of whom were Japanese nationals). Therefore, any subsequent internment was based on separate initiatives. Proceeding from these facts, we can see that the silly claim that “the existence of the act itself was used as justification to round up all people of Japanese ancestry” is either incredibly obtuse ignorance or incredibly self-serving falsehood. I still can’t figure out whether you’re dishonest or dumb, but you have been steadily whittling away any other possibilities. (I should note that it does not have to be an either-or construct.)
DAMN!
After reading this, I had to go pour myself a tasty beverage, sit back in front of the computer (my monitor seems to have finally retired back to his terrarium), fill my mouth with said beverage, reread your post, spew ungodly amounts of salivad and slightly warmed beverage all over my computer TV thingy (what? that’s also called a monitor? weird), and relate the news of this wonderful event to you all.
DAMN! (again)
Piker. I have the check and the Get Out Of Hell Free card he gave the waiter for a tip.
I don’t get it.
So did 50 Shekel, and he is a religious Jew too.
Of course, maybe he doesn’t exist either.
Regards,
Shodan
Thanks.
The Turing Test refers to a possible method to determine the presense of mind, thought, intelligence, and/or consciousness in an entity (whether mechanical or organic).
I would fail.
Posts 916, 917, & 918 weren’t there when I hit submit. Told ya I’d fail.
