Screamers Mafia

OAOW, maybe, for falling for gryff’s bait, even if I’m not that fond of that sort of play on principle. (As easy to trap a Townie who’s not thinking too clearly as it is to trap Scum.) But I have little read on him aside from that. (Sorta begging for someone to review the history of our lower-posting players, so I don’t have to.)

I’m not entirely sure I’d be opposed to a Scuba Ben lynch, based on his bizarre reaction to Alka and CIAS Yesterday. Your point about Scuba’s inactivity is a good one, and CIAS’s posts about him do fit the profile of a casual distancing on a Day that was dominated by other topics. I think I just talked myself into it being worth a shot.

vote: Scuba Ben

Boozahol, when are you planning to vote/end the Day?

It is irrelevant.

Just poked through Scuba Ben’s posts, and I don’t think I’m shifting my vote there, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see him flip scum. There’s this post, when he highlights a list containing Chronos, Gryff, and OaOW (and USC and Oredigger after a break) as “pinging him”, but he never really went anywhere with it. He was also confused about other stuff aside from Cat’s claim yesterday (the one that sticks out in my memory is asking who peeker was a backup Doc for).

So, yeah, not switching my vote but not rushing to his defense, either.

travelling to Paris with work tomorrow guys, so unlikely to be around muh till 8 pm on Thurs

I was planning on voting right about now… but I’m completely flummoxed. I just can’t see a good spot to sink a vote and it feels awful late in the game to play lynch the lurker.

How about you wait until about 2:00 Eastern tomorrow?

Fair enough.

I know how you feel. I got no good ideas on any of the players I don’t think are Town.

I think the next Day, if we don’t win after the upcoming lynch, might be mass-claim time.

I understand your position but, unlike Boozy, you can place a vote and then change it later if needed. Sharing your vote and current opinions will lead to some more discussion and will provide Boozy with more information on which to place his vote. Unless we all put our ideas and thoughts out there, each one of us will be limited to his or her own knowledge and interpretation of the facts and that’s not enough to find scum.

Which players do you not think are Town and why not?

I think we need to know a little more about OneAndOnlyWanderer as everyone has been letting him get by on the “Mods would never out scum by preventing him being leader” excuse, and as the game has gone by I am finding that less convincing.
I would hazard a guess that he is a politician, and the observed game play of the politician is not been overly town. However he has RL commitments until Thursday so I don’t want to beat on him when he can’t respond.

Therefore I will beat on Guiri, mostly due to various things that point to “Ben or Guiri” being scum and I find the arguments in favour of Ben’s townliness to be mildly compelling (mostly the list one).

Vote GuiriEnEspaña

@ GryffYeah, I’ve probably been somewhat influenced by Tom’s numerous smudges towards “Ben and I” too. Knowing I am town and seeing the logic behind Tom’s reasoning, it’s easy for me to deduce that Scuba_Ben must be the scum. I guess it’s not so clear-cut to everyone else.

What do you mean by “mostly the list one”? The list of voters who were on neither bandwagon that included Chronos?

Do you have any arguments of your own against me that I can respond to?

I’ll say that while I think that Ben and Guiri are unlikely to both be scum (both jumping late on the Drain Bead wagon, Guiri’s multiple votes on Ben/Cold Phoenix), it’s entirely possible that they’re both Town.

You want arguments of my own!! What are you, some kind of… uh… survivor! or something?

Actually, no, not really.

I am rather concerned by two groups of people. The ones that seem to be doing bugger all (such as Diver and Tilt) and the ones that are talking lots but not doing much else (You, OAOW and AllWalker), to a lesser extent I am worried about others that seem dodgy but evidence is shown of them doing things that are counter to known scum (Scuba, Tom and Drain)
Of the first group, the fact that they are doing sod all makes it hard to make a case against them, but I am all for Lynch the Lurker if we have nothing better.
In the second group I am willing to stir the pot a little and see what bubbles to the surface.
Of the third group I am tending to assume my paranoia has got hold of me so I will hold off a “Lynch them all” policy.

On Preview: Yeah Tom, I know, but we have to get some more information.

NETA: As an aside, I think Scum is seeing the claiming Vanilla is the new “safe” claim.

I think you are not town. I have never been entirely comfortable with your explanation of the comment you made about **texcat’s **death. It wasn’t enough to go on, though so I turn to the only true empiric evidence we have: voting records. I simply cannot reconcile unvoting and revoting Thing Fish after his claim of Doctor. Especially since it was less than 24 hours after you said (paraphrased) “If we were to take all claims as plausible for the moment, we shouldn’t be voting for any of them”

vote GuiriEnEspana

Vote Count:

Scuba (4): Guiri, DrainBead, AllWalker, Norma
USCD (1): Mr. Scud
Tilta (1): Scuba
Mr. Scud (1): OaOW
Guiri (2): Gryff, USCD

gryff, what has Scuba Ben done that is “counter to known Scum”?

I can see the towniness in listing a group of players who happened to avoid being on either bandwagon which included one player who is now a known scum. What about singling out that same player on his own as a scum “itching for his first night kill” in response to his desire for a quick end to Day 1 and a FOS on any player who dared moved their vote after the Jpei show?

I wish we could analyze some empical evidence left by you:

  • Just 3 votes in 4 days
  • leaving a vote on DB (only accompanied by CIAS and reinforcing it after an absence of several days and not being bothered to identify which posts “raised your eyebrows”
  • not placing a vote at all on Day 2
  • following the lynch leader on Day 3 (voting Chronos specifically for posting his program, not for his scumminess)

I believe I explained what I meant about TexCat’s death being inexplicable and I can’t see much reason why this would lead you to consider me as scum.

I, like several others, didn’t buy Thing Fish’s initial claim of Doc especially when he said he self-protected on Night 1 when we had a number of power roles to protect. I re-voted and textually signed-off before he came out with the Bodyguard claim which was enormously more believable in light of the details of Peeker’s role and explained the reason for self-protecting.
