I am not so worried about jpei’s lack of vote as I am about the lame excuses and the above post that appears to laying down some early groundwork for not voting later – a pre-excuse. Makes me wonder if there is some role restriction about voting in elections – similar to OaOW’s restriction about being elected.

Other things mildly pinging me at the moment are peeker’s dogged pursuit of TomScud on what looks like pretty shaky grounds and AlkaSeltzer’s obsession with millers.

Reasonable argument about jpei, though not backed by a vote; jpei at the time was the early vote leader. I’m not sure that’s a fair characterization of jpei’s (rather odd) “Jim Jones” argument – he said he thought it might be mildly dangerous to vote, then didn’t vote. This seems like following through on his own ideas, not setting up a pre-excuse. But anyway, nothing to see here.

The peeker comment was prior to the peeker-wagon; Alka had been voted by Boozy earlier.

The skirmish between peeker and TomScud is now beginning to look to me like two scum fighting for show. I thought at first that it was just peeker going on and on about something that looked like nothing to everyone else, but I wonder now why Tom keeps defending himself and prolonging the skirmish when no one else thinks he was suspicious and he’s obviously not going to convince peeker. Tom’s vote on peeker would seem to indicate that they are not a pair of scum, but it’s early in the Day – and so something to keep an eye on.

The first person to mention the “scumfight” theory vis a vis the peeker/Tom controversy. I know I’m town, so I know that it smudges at least one townie, though it might not have been intended to. Also, in my own lurking and playing experience, every single Day 1 fight has been Town vs. Town with scum among the pile-ons.

I have never played in a game with a lie detector before. So I am not sure I really understand the point of everyone stating their town alignment. Is it just so that the lie detector is able to investigate them?

I am not sure how this helps, but for the record, I am town aligned.

Vote: jpei for not voting in the election and trying to find reasons for not voting, both before the election and afterwards.

Reasonable question; fairly safe vote.

Alka Seltzer and Gryff, I get what you are saying a bit more now. What you are saying doesn’t totally jibe with what I have seen with this group of mafia players, but I see where you’re coming from now. In this group, I’ve seen more scum false-claim Cop than Doc.

I’m not going to vote for peeker at this point, but I’m not going to vote for you guys either. I’m still suspicious of Drain Bead but I don’t think she’s the best lynch candidate at this point.

I initially thought jpei was operating mostly out of newbieness but now I am wondering whether he’s ‘lurking’ intentionally.

Has anyone ever been in a game with two full docs? It seems ridiculously overpowered, but in a game this large I suppose I could see it, if it was balanced by the scum having a lot of powers too.

There’s been a couple, Doc’s, half-docs, backup docs, so I really don’t have any issue with Peeker saying “a doctor”

I was just about to say exactly this. Just because you didn’t read an ambiguous statement in the same way as another person, you’re voting for them? Several other people also misinterpreted the statement and I don’t see you voting for them. This is just…strange.

I’ve been thinking about this for five whole minutes, and I have come to the conclusion that this is the scummiest thing I’ve seen in this thread so far. Really, I can’t think of a vote that has had more shoddy reasoning, and I’m counting Day One random.org votes in that assessment.

If by “for so long,” you mean “less than 24 hours, in the 2nd post I made on the subject, after the first post in which I said everyone should claim town-aligned,” then sure. I only had two votes on me, I think, when I said I was town-aligned. I got the majority of them after. So while I’m glad for you not voting for me, I feel the need to point out that you’re not voting for me based on a mistaken assumption.

My vote goes to Jpei as, regardless of claims, his actions are anti-town and therefore scummy. He didn’t vote for leader, he hasn’t voted day 1 so far, he hasn’t posted anything in 2 days, he really hasn’t contributed at all to the search for scum. While he’s explained his reasons for not voting for leader, I’ve not seen any other contribution of any kind. This does not seem to be typical town-like behavior and is not much use to the rest of us townies.
