Good point Chronos, but maybe Texcat wanted to keep things under wraps. Odds were she’d hit Town last Night and so might have not been willing to claim just yet. After all, assuming a successful Night 1 recruitment on Day 2 she could sy something like,
“I am a Mason who recruited Player A last Night. I am going to try for Player B. Should Player B be Scum I will die. Should Scum NK me in order to frame Player B, Player A will verify whether or not the recruitment was successful”
But without an extra person to verify someone’s inclusion as a Mason, it is hard to verify how Texcat died. Especially if she had claimed, because then she would have beeen a high priority target for Scumkill.
I don’t know. I suppose the game is big enough to have Scum, a Vig and a SK in it (or some equivalent combination) - 4 kills per Day ends the game after 5 days, which is fairly reasonable. Add the possibility of killblocks and the balance works out.
Eh, I don’t see his playstyle being particularly hampered by being leader, if he got it. The only real power is starting the clock, and I’m sure peek could make it perfectly clear where he was thinking of placing his vote at any given time.
It was a spur-of-the-moment thing right after the Jimmy revelation, really.
I’m not referring to the powers; I’m referring to the limitations. Remember, we’re talking about someone who’s been known to vote for someone and then unvote later in the same post. I don’t think someone who plays that way would be a good fit for a position where you can only cast one vote all Day.
I said that I didn’t see why she was killed and thought it unlikely that she was targeted by scum as she’d given no hint of her role. I asked if it seemed strange to anyone else.
@ Daphne You may have missed my reply in post 991 saying that I couldn’t see any reason for anyone to single out TexCat (and several good explanations have since been proposed). I speculated that TexCat got killed on a recruiting ploy, a theory later proposed by AllWalker.
A number of players have since said that it’s best not to speculate on who did the killings as there are so many unknown variables - which I see makes perfect sense - and so I’m only bringing this up to be sure to address your questions. I hope I’ve explained myself well.
Interesting Night. Good that we got one of the scum, but annoying that we lost two of our own. I don’t think speculation on Night kills this early is going to help given that it is a closed game, but worth bearing in mind for later. There are a lot of options as to what occured last night, although I will say that AllWalker’s theory seems reasonable.

I am the General Store Owner. As such I have a number of items that I can use or give out to people.
Luckily, unlike peeker’s extremely dubious claim, I can verify this.
I gave an item to Boozy last night, and I expect he will come along and confirm this.
I chose him as he seemed to be the most towny to me, well actually Jpei seemed the most but I think his play was particularly poor. My main reason for this was that my colour referenced a fruitless attempt to get lots of berynium so Boozy’s reference to that rang as true to me.
Additionally I put this tiara on, expecting it to have some mind reading abilities (investigator)… oops.
I will not say what items I have for obvious reasons, nor who I give them to, with one exception as I can’t work out what it might do.
–A doily. The doily is extremely decorative, and has an intricate lace pattern. It is uncolored, and appears to have been bleached several times in an attempt to keep it that way. The cloth is unusually thick, but otherwise unidentifiable–perhaps it was made of fur of some kind? There is no obvious use for it beyond decoration.
That’s bad news, instead of having to rely on their wits any scum can co-ordinate during the day. The scum definitely gain a lot more from being able to talk during the day than we do from being able to talk at night. It also invalidates my strongest reason for thinking Drain Bead is town (lack of bus votes).
Busy night. I agree we shouldn’t waste too much time trying to unpick it now, things should become clearer after subsequent nights. I will say though that I think it’s plausable that TexCat was killed because she tried to recruit a scum. The reveal text is specific that “She was in mid-recruiting”. I’ll be taking a look through her posts to see if there are any breadcrumbs or indications of any players she trusted.
Good to get the scum investigator early, but with the loss of a recruiting Mason and jpei I’d say town is only about par right now.

As that’s one of the players I’d like to hear more from, and making them leader at this stage might help draw them into the game.
I think the Days should end on Tuesday for now. At some point we might be able to have a short Day and get back to weekend nights, hopefully after a scum is outed.
Normal Phase, is the fact that I am still alive really that much of a shock to you? I would have been shocked to turn up dead. I was one of the highest vote-getters during the Day and my wagon was derailed by a scum. I’m a vanilla, so not a high-priority NK target. Nice setup for a mislynch, if you ask me–why waste a NK on me when eventually the Town would do it?
Honestly, I think the number of times Jimmy and I were visibly on the same page is a somewhat amusing point in my favor. If I were Scum, and a fellow scum managed to divert a lot of attention from me, I certainly wouldn’t go bringing it back on both of us by making what was essentially a “me too” vote right behind his that started the eventual final wagon.
At this point, I see myself as playing on borrowed time. I know Scum and probably a few Town will be pushing for my mislynch at some point and the eventual end of that will reap lots of info in voting records and won’t have the drawback of forcing power roles to claim. So, in sum, bring it on if you want to, but know that lynching me won’t provide an easy hiding place.
How can you ask that after seeing the hounding Jpei got on his mod based partial claim.
It would have been harmful to town to let everyone waste a day or two on people trying to puzzle out the tiara and my explanations without eventually revealing all.
Alka, I’m not sure I agree with the concept of making someone leader because you want to hear them more. It allows a lurker to have a Day in which they only vote once.
Actually I got the two people mixed up, I ment OAOW where I said Jpei. In any case it would have just added noise and confusion to the day, ultimately requiring me to claim any way.
No one would have accepted me just saying I did it to myself without further explanation, then people would go on about soft-claims yada yada.
Nonetheless it is done now, and time to move onto the real information we have from the night. Primarily to me, why do the scum even need an investigator!? Do they not know each other, or is there a third party group that can affect them?
Had a look through TexCat’s posts, and I couldn’t see any breadcrumbs. As Chronos said, her only indication of trust was that she thought jpei’s role was more likely to be town than scum.
Day 2’s post-leader-choosing-phase may get going around 2-2:20(1 hour earlier) today, so really get your election vote in before then if you want to place one.
I was thinking of the same thing. I have no doubt that with that limitation peeker would nonetheless be fully capable of letting us know who he was suspicious of.
Anyway, as I said, it was spur-of-the-moment and I have no problem with the boozy nomination.
