Once Boozy had voted for him, there was no pro-town reason for Thing Fish to delay claiming. Given that he actually checked in with pede about Day end with c.10 hours to go, there’s really no reason to wait another two hours to claim.
Last minute claims of vital roles are a scum tactic. I’m going to take a deep breath, and stick to my guns.
I’m not sure what to think of the fact that Thing Fish self-protected last Night. On the one hand, jpei was a good protection target, and Thing Fish wasn’t outed. On the other hand, I think if I were a Town Doc yesterDay, I probably would have self-protected too.
I do agree with the point that Thing Fish should have claimed much earlier after the leader voted. It was anti-Town to not give us as much time as possible to digest the claim.
Mods (or anyone else who has the time to mess with it) can I see an updated vote count?

Biggest strikes against Thingy are (1) the last-minute claim and (2) the night 1 self-protect: with 4 roles out there, or 3 if you discount peeker, there’s got to be one that’s more attractive to scum than a shot in the dark at a random townie. Bad play, even if plausible for Town.

I really don’t understand the arguments behind the Thing Fish case other than his smudging of those late to the Drain Bead bandwagon, following Jimmy Chitwood’s lead. Kind of a slender reed to lynch someone from.

pure objectivity is no way to play this game. matter of fact it is short sighted and gives the player way to many ‘well that doesn’t make sense’ outs.

i claimed because i thought it in town’s best interest.
i even acknowledged that i was blocked because more information is better than less, my two cents and ymmv.
i posted the pms so that anyone who is a town power role could get a feel to see if they are at all congruent with what they may have received. and for fucks sake don’t say anything fracking obvious. scum would also have received some at this point, and i believe several.
and to be honest with you i have actually played this one a little slower and less confrontational than my usual game. first, i know something - i am a doc/medic/protector. second, this board seems less in your face than that which i am accustomed to.
the only person who has even come close has been boozy. but that’s because we play off board so much. that’s why the bulgarian (hungarian?) insult made me chuckle. i would never think to say that to any of the folks on this board (sans boozy). and he absolutely knows why i did what i did. but that’s null. for the life of me, i can’t figure out whether folks really haven’t figured that part out or are really clueless. i mean, don’t tell me that noone got the spongebob video reference to being blocked. seriously, keep knocking but can’t come in - i mean i know i couldn’t leave so it’s a little oblique but shoot not that much so.

Oh, I can’t even come close to saying what I’d like to say about this outside the Pit.
As I repeatedly stated, I was delayed in posting due to real life concerns. Specifically, I had an intoxicated, suicidal patient in my office, which I would actually consider to be a pretty fucking valid reason to fall a bit behind in one’s online Mafia game.
You think I’m scum, fine. But if you’re accusing me of making up real life concerns in order to gain some strategic advantage (which would be what, exactly, to get more votes on me??), then you’re accusing me of actually cheating, and I find that very offensive. I will avoid signing up for games in the future if you are participating, and I would ask you to give me the same courtesy.

All right, I guess I’ll just come out with this, since I can understand people finding it suspicious. My role title is actually “Bodyguard”, and the variation I referred to above is that although self-protection works normally, if I protect someone else and that player is attacked, I die instead of them.
Thus, I will be self-protecting until such time as someone else convinces me they are both Town and a significant power role.
