That’s a bit of a result. I’ll have a complete re-read over the weekend, and get my thoughts down before dawn.
Since OreDigger volunteered, I think Daphne should blockvestigate him tonight. That’s the safest approach, regardless of Daphne’s alignment. It avoids the risk that an investigator might be blocked.
3 role-blockers eh? (FS can’t have blocked Peeker, he reported different colour, and whatever Peeker was under the influence of, it wasn’t a post restriction). I need to have another think about Daphne’s claim in the light of the FS flip. Seems odd for town to have 2 blocking roles. On the other hand, Chronos was keen to lynch Daphne. I’ll have another look at that bandwagon.
Think it’s a good rule. It would be a killer to town to lose info on an effectively dead player in a closed setup.
Well, there’s a thousand things there that deservea closer look, when i am less tired. But I’ll respond to this:
Someone really should do a WoW on me. Ignoring Day 3, I am a mid-volume poster who occasionally comes up with some interesting idea. But I seem to have the gift of gliding through these games without attracting attention, unless I say or do something really stupid.
As for the Chronos vote, I really didn’t like any of the existing bandwagons. I put my vote on who I thought at the time was Scummiest - I have played with Chronos a couple of times before when we were both Townies, so I thought something about his style seemed a bit off. I figured expressing this suspicion through a vote was the best way to conduct things. Every vote needs to be accountable for but I figured that was especially true for the leader, who would attract more attention, so I voted based on the only case that convinced me.
Yes! Scum Roleblocker! Since that’s arguably the most valuable Scum role, I’m suspicious of any player who attempted to derail the **Chronos **bandwagon. First on the list is Drain “lynch me instead” Bead.
Are you serious? Jesus Christ, I was first to vote for him on Day One (and nearly got lynched for it) and would have been first had I gotten to the computer before Tom did. Tell me, what would the Scum motivation for any of those votes have been? Why would I be after him almost all game if he were so vitally important to me? I wanted to croak so you would go after him (and Tom) next, knowing I was Town. And now that we got him, I no longer consider myself a distraction and will not be asking you to lynch me again, BTW.
Also, if I am scum, how do you explain Tom actively trying to derail the Chronos lynch well before I did, and expressly doing it to save Chronos? Everything I did was so you all would get to killing their scummy asses. Tom does what he does to SAVE scum, but you start with me. Makes no sense at all.
I’m still taking a bet-hedging approach towards your claim, I want to generate more info if you are town, but prevent you from doing any damage if you are scum. A blockvestigate of OreDigger seems the safest approach to me. If anyone has a counter-argument, I’d like to hear it.
Chronos’ vote against you is a point in your favour, but I can’t rule out distancing or bussing. I need to take a close look at the game state at that point, when I get there in my re-read. One thing I have found, is I can now see a possible scum-motive for blocking FS night 1. FS asked for advice on blocking as town twice (which you mentioned), but also asked whether power roles should breadcrumb.
@Tiltawhirl - You aren’t really giving us enough info to make a decent judgement on your alignment. What do you think of OreDigger asking to be blockvestigated tonight? Does that make him more or less likely to be scum as far as you are concerned?
I’m up to page 11 of my re-read. To any townies who have the time, there are now enough flips to make a full re-read really worthwhile.
The counter argument is that agreeing to block someone ahead of time allows the scum to operate with that knowledge. If OreDigger is vanilla scum, volunteering to be blocked would be a great move. It’s been mentioned in thread that I wouldn’t get a read on them as having a power, so there’s literally no risk in it.
That’s a valid argument if you are town, but if you are scum it gives you a free block.
We don’t know that for sure, we only know the info you got from FS. Colour wise, it’s possible you might get alignment info. I’m thinking drunken indiscretion /robot malfunction. This isn’t the first time I’ve raised this idea.
I see volunteering to be blocked/investigated as mildly anti-Town but not overly scummy. At this point I see greater value in Daphne selecting her own target. If she’s town, she could luck upon one of the scum power players and score a big win.
Essentially OreDigger’s soft claiming VT (is there such a thing?) which leaves a smaller pool for any remaining unclaimed town power players to hide out in.
