Screaming "Oxo Factor" ad - please kill it

There’s an ad, presumably only in the UK, for “The OXO Factor” - a competition run by a gravy manufacturer. It contains cheering when it first loads, and though it has a small “mute” button, it’s f*&$#%g annoying, particularly if one has more than one window open.

I know AdWords can be blocked on an individual basis - any chance of blocking oxofactor.com?

(Posted without knowing the official policy…)

Yes, I suspect it’s only in the UK – ads are targeted for local areas – and no, there’s nothing we can do about it. Sorry.

Didn’t y’all immediately squash video/sound ads back when the board went to free posting, and those things popped up (heh) here? Seems like I remember a shortlived outcry, and the noisy ads going away before the unruly posters were fully armed with pitchforks and torches…

The market for gravy is that competitive in the UK?

That’s nothing, you should have seen the girl-on-girl action in the Paxo stuffing adverts last week. And I don’t know what Chef Boy-Ar-Dee was supposed to be doing in the one that raised the hubbub back in June, but if I never see another 4-year old dressed like “the gimp” from Pulp Fiction, it’ll be too soon…

I was thinking that maybe “gravy” was cockney slang for “body spray” or some such.

Well, there is something you can do about it (I run AdWords sites professionally, so I know), but you may not have time to do it - which would both be understandable, and the honest answer.

Apparently, all TV ads for gravy come from stock footage.

Call me a traditionalist, but I prefer pure, old fashioned gravy wrestling.

Tuba usually means that she doesn’t have the authority to do that. Jerry, on the other hand, may not have the time. Especially with the buyout shakeup upstairs.

Flashblock should fix it. It blocks flash by default, but you can click on an applet if you want to run it. Text, or image based ads should still come through just fine.

You’re recommending I download a Firefox addition that will modify the presentation of this forum?

Why yes I am. Let’s see what happens.
