Screen savers for Windows

Question for a buddy of mine who was mightily impressed by the screen saver on my Mac. On my system it’s built in under Preferences as a “screen effect.” You put the images you want in the saver in a specific folder and then list the folder name in the screen effect. My buddy is not too computer-savvy so he doesn’t know if something similar exists in Windows so I turn to y’all. I don’t know what version he’s using or anything about his system. Does any version of Windows have some sort of built-in screensaver like this and if so how does he access it to set it up?? If not, suggestions for a free downloadable screen saver that works for a wife variety of Windows versions (links would be appreciated)?

Windows XP has a similar screensaver called “My Pictures Slideshow”. To access it, right-click on the desktop to open the Display Properties, select the screensaver tab, and select the aforementioned screensaver in the pull down box. Any pictures placed under “My Documents\My Pictures” will be displayed sequentially. The settings button under the screensaver tab allows for more options.

Not sure if this applies to Win2k as well…

midget is correct. Windows XP does come with a screen saver slide show where you can use your own images.

The same screen saver program will work in Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000. This web site shows you how to do it. I’ve tried it myself on Win2000 and Win98.
