This potential war is bringing out the worst in people, everybody. It’s the real assholes that show their true colours first. Hence, Chirac’s pathetic attempt to threaten the Eastern European nations into submission. You’ll notice that he was alone in doing so.
Nothing against France, a lot against Chirac. Kind of similar to my position on the US at the moment, really.
I didn’t mean to pick on it, and I regret mentioning it, as the sentiment expressed wasn’t worth recognition. I just was feeling in a mood of “why can’t everyone get along” today.
But I think my other points are valid - France is not evil because they disagree with the US on a few issues; nor the US because they disagree with France on a few issues.
Perhaps it is a measure of how much the French are actually respected that so many are bothered by their not agreeing with the US? I mean to say - it would not nearly be in the news so much, even if they had the same veto power in the UN and NATO, if Curacao didn’t think the US should use force against Iraq.
I think France is very highly respected and regarded by many, and thus that is why there is some of the consternation over their not agreeing with the US. It tells us that maybe the issue isn’t as clear, or black-and-white, as we like to think it is…? And maybe it makes people doubt if the path they have chosen is so clear-cut and right.
CNN NEWS: A Florida cop is being hailed as a hero after he detects two French invaders who had landed on the beach and he singlehandedly and heroically fights wth them managing to kill one and severely injure the other thus prompting the rest of the French to have second thoughts about ever trying to come to America.
My monitor is quite small and I only saw the “fighting ignorance” part. I did not see it was “fighting ignorance and bad taste”. Not to mention I was fooled by all the threads I have seen which did not seem to be in good taste at all. At any rate, even though I can hold my own quite well, I am not about to participate in a pissing match of personal insults which would result in another meltdown. We have enough of those already without my participation.
>> So why don’t you call again when you get a sense of humour.
Have fun giving about 60% of your paycheck to the French govt., for the privilege of living among filthy “men” and unshaven “women”. Iffy drinking water and obsolete indoor plumbing are 2 other things you can probably look forward to as you settle in with your panty-waisted countrymen.
Yeah, them thar Frenchies are so cultured, that we’re barbarians in comparison.
