I appreciate that you are busy. I understand this. However, let’s talk deadlines.
More specifically, let’s talk about the fact that I sent in my request for an absentee ballot well before the deadline and it has not arrived.
Fuck you and your delays for not letting me vote. Fuck your rules that do not allow me to register as a New Hampshire voter as I am dependent on some Delaware state scholarships.
I’d like to pass on “fuck yous” on behalf of about a dozen of my friends who have also not recieved absentee ballots. And yes, I assure you that we applied before the deadline.
If I hear one more word about apathy in my generation, I’m going to do unpleasant things to you involving anthrax, sporks, and shaven goats.
You have effectively made me lose my voice. Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you.
Going for that detached, voter-friendly cold fury,
andy
Well, you could have lost your vote on the assumption that you were going to spend the rest of your life in another country, only to realise well after the deadline that you’re not going to after all…now I’m going to miss two elections, the one in the US and the UK election next May
Know what sucks? My fiance could not get an absentee ballot. I think a lot of his friends can’t either. And he’s in the Navy. He can’t vote for who’s in charge of our country, yet he is defending our country. Isn’t this illegal too?
Your fiancee didn’t try hard enough or look in the right places. It is INCREDIBLY easy to get an absentee ballot if you’re in the military. Every base I was on had HUGE get-out-the-vote drives.
I’ve often been asked why I could possibly be a Republican. One of the main reasons is that I do not believe that the government will act efficiently and enthusiastically in doing social services for Americans. Rather, I believe that the government has a tendency to screw up everything it touches.
I recently moved from Montgomery County, MD to Prince George’s County, MD. Being the good and upstanding, civic-minded citizen that I am, I filled out a “Voter Relocation” form at the MVA (the Maryland version of the DMV). When this election rolled around, I had not yet received any word as to where I should go to vote.
Those understanding the concept of foreshadowing will have read the first paragraph of my rant and realize exactly what happened. For those still unsure- after spending two hours driving between Montgomery and Prince George’s County- twice- in rush hour- I discovered that: Montgomery County’s bureaucracy had been efficient and, realizing that I had moved, stricken my name from the voter rolls. Prince George’s County’s bureacracy had been inefficient and had not yet added my name to their rolls. Being on no voter rolls meant that there was no place that I was allowed to vote.
So, andygirl, take at least some reassurance in the fact that somewhere in this country, a Republican was screwed out of his chance to vote as well.
