SDMB 2012 Postcard Exchange, Round Two!

:: puts up hand ::

I thought you’d said earlier that you’d got one of a London bus under the secret protocol?

I haven’t time to check back through the thread now. I’m late for a 3.00pm meeting.

Got a nifty Amsterdam card from Lady Grey in Monday’s mail.

If we have a sending deadline later in the month–say, Sept. 15th or so, that would be better. Many people (incliuding me!) are moving and starting school.

Hence the “Bonus Card” comment. I had extras and dropped one to all the addresses I had. I tried to avoid confusion with the Bonus Card comment.

I am worried now about postage, and I hope all of mine make it. I’m in Chicago through Friday, won’t be able to update until then if I received my third.

Whoops you’re right!

Up late with a sick boyo and it slipped my mind.

YAY! I got my third card + a bonus card … both in yesterday’s mail

Thank you, Northern Piper, who sent me a photo of the Saskatchewan Legislature w/garden – very handsome. I will have to look at my maps to see if I’ve been in the neighborhood (we drove from Alaska to Maine via Canada, in 2011). VERY nice stamps, too.

The BONUS card is the Watson Drug & Soda Fountain / Orange, CA, from Algher. And yet ANOTHER “Hawaii Aloha shirt” stamp – they’re really popular!

Thanks to all, and I’m looking forward to ROUND THREE.

Half the fun is finding the weird postcards !

I got a lovely card from gardentraveler today, it is a spectacular view of Columbus on a summer evening. I know it’s spectacular because it says so on the card! Thanks, gt!

I am sorry but I won’t be able to participate in Round 3, I am on holiday (LA and San Francisco) from 3rd-21st September so I will have almost no email/net access and won’t be able to send any cards. Of course, I will be able to buy loads on my travels and stock up for future rounds. Does buying cards from places you visit contravene the rules in some way?

I am FrancisCastle.

Seems like this is my first received card this round.

I got my last postcard from FrancisCastle! Seems there were no postcards to be had so one was improvised. I posted it in the flickr group. And this one too had the infamous aloha stamp.

Of my postcards that I sent, one was the first of all to arrive, and one still hasn’t shown up. Weird.

Got a beautiful Canadian card from Sunspace today !

That’s two!

Attempting to put them on the Flickr page now…

Another vote for a delayed deadline for the third round. I’ve got some leave coming up (I think I’m going skiing), so I won’t be online a lot.

Glad it got there and that you like it. The photo is a bit outdated - the gardens have gone through a major reno for the Queen’s Jubilee, and there’s also now a statute of Her Majesty on a horse named Burmese, which the RCMP gave to her many years ago and which was apparently her favourite horse. I sent an e-mail to the post card company and they actually replied that they would do an updated one! If I see it in the future, I’ll send it to you!

Odds are, though, that you took the Yellowhead via Saskatoon - it angles north-west -> south-east from Edmonton to Winnipeg. Regina is on the Trans-Canada, which runs straight east-west in these parts.

Jackpot!

I just got home from work and discovered two cards in my box.

One is from **silenus **and shows a rather quirky, old-fashioned orange box. The other is from anya marie. It has a picture of an Amish buggy, complete with horse (which also looks to be the theme of the stamp on **silenus’ **card).

Thank you both!

I got my last card last night from **Northern Piper[/]. It says “The Night Sky in Saskwatchewan” and is almost all pitch black, except for a crescent moon and (IIRC) a beaver in one corner, looking up at the moon.

Cute! Thanks!

glad you like it - the Piper Cub picked it out personally. (it’s a gopher, by the way, the beloved pest of the prairies.)

and a lovely card of Red and Zed arrived yesterday from jackdavinci! painted turtles, right?

Sorry, right, a gopher. I forgot it at home so forgot what critter it was.

It’s about time! I was beginning to doubt the existence of International Post there for a bit.

I’m up for Round 3, of course, and could do so either earlier or later.
