As has been mentioned hundreds of times the SDMB is not intrusive enough to discriminate between ads and their providers. It relies on the righteous sense and native honesty of the good folk of advertising.
Come One ! Come All !

There was one day last week when every time I tried to open a page on the SDMB I got hijacked by a fake Google page claiming my device had a virus. The page was trying to get me to click a fake link. sorry, I did not note the address.
This has been happening constantly for me. I stepped away from the board for the most part over the last 6 months because it has become unreadable on a phone, seems to have not been addressed. This is the only website i visit with this reoccurring problem.
Another scroll ad, forces the browser (Chrome something or other) to jump to the bottom of the screen and won’t let you scroll away. And the ad seems to restart every couple of minutes. (and of course, no control to stop or close the ad, at least the popovers have close buttons)

Yeah, me too. Frustrating.
Auto-scrolling ads are most annoying when trying to post.
The ads in (when using Safari) make it impossible to read posts. The entire page jumps to the bottom. You scroll up and then it does it again. It sucks.
Been getting an ad in mobile that seems to mention Nickelodeon, but all it really does is cause black blocks to appear over most of the screen, covering up sections of posts. Part of the ad seems to flash in the bottom, and occasionally it crashes the Chrome browser.
3 of the nasty " you have a terrible virus"bs in rapid succession just now. Android phone, chrome browser.
Make that 4. Jeez.
Happening to me too. What can be done? I added a adblocker, it doesn’t seem to help. Oh, Wise one, please help!
Same thing here.
This is silly. Fire your ad company.

Whenever I try to go to the SDMB, I get hit with this image. Safari on iPhone iOS 11.

I’m currently using Tapatalk, which I really don’t like compared to the new mobile skin.
I can’t use SDMB on my iPhone anymore. When I click on a thread, I get this.
When I click the “close”, I get this.
I can find no way to defeat it. It’s been two or three days, I’m logging this from my desktop.
That’s exactly what I’m getting.
Not a complaint. I accessed this board from a windows box that doesn’t run an ad blocker today, and while the ads are still annoying, I was pleasantly surprised to see that:
they are from legitimate companies that I might want to do business with, and there’s no ad content that makes me nervous a co-worker might see it.
They are mostly staying on the bottom of the page, allowing me to see the content of the site.
I know I’ve complained a lot. I thought I should mention that it looks better, at least from my set-up.
I went ahead and tried the front page on an open browser. The very first click opened a popup to the “Bill Gates brain booster” ad.
Huh, today I’ve seen ads from several car companies, and some odd stuff like WordPress and MilkBone dog biscuits.
I’ve been getting a lot of auto-play ads today, mostly for The Daily Show.
For a couple weeks, I was getting an ad on my phone for the state lottery. It would essentially hijack the screen for a few seconds where I’d tap a link, then this animated border would creep along the screen, the “Play the Lottery” banner would show and I’d have to tap again after it was done playing to finally get the link to work.
Now it’s the same thing except for Sprint. Having TWO ads doing that was enough to finally make me switch phone browsers and install an ad blocker.
