SDMB All-pro Fantasy Football 2019

More than a chance, baby!

Woohoo! My first win, by the narrowest of margins, thanks to big performances by QB Josh Allen and my Ravens defense, and a solid effort byRB Tarik Cohen.

Sorry man… but it was great while it lasted!

So in moving down to 10, I forgot to consider the 6 man playoffs. We really should’ve changed them to 4, but by the time I realized it the season had begun and it was too late. So we’ll be having an unusually big playoffs which I managed to miss anyway.

The playoffs:

Byes

  1. The Great Old Ones (Ol’Gaffer)

  2. Overly Sentimental

  3. Nine Inch Neils (RNATB) vs

  4. Omnipotents (Omniscient)

And 4) Robber Barons (Munch) vs
5) Frosted_Lightning (Frosted Glass)

At the end of the regular season, if you sort us by score (actual finish in parenthesis)

  1. Nine Inch Neils 2129 (3)
  2. The Great Old Ones 2123 (1)
  6. Omnipotents 1756 (6)
  7. Exploding Pancakes 1716 (8)
  8. Go Quack Go 1698 (7)
  9. Inglewood Chargers 1594 (9)
  10. No Use For A Name 1552 (10)

Hopefully I didn’t waste my 2nd best score of the year on a bye week.

Hey guys. I’m sorry I’m getting to you so late, but I’ve been kind of procrastinating dealing with the downsizing of SDMB fantasy football this year. This league has been on the decline for a few years as interest had been waning. We’ve been trying to spice it up with some new ideas, but I never felt like people were into it like they had been long ago. I think most of us were still here due to momentum … it’s sad to see something that has been going for 16 years fade away.

But last year we had to run 10 handed because we couldn’t even scrape up a full load. And this year the SDMB switched software and lost a lot of members. Only three teams accepted the invite when I renewed the league in July. I just don’t see the interest being there this year.

Maybe if we all have a reduced number of leagues in fantasy football this year we’ll all be hungry to try something new next year. Definitely worth considering. But it didn’t seem to me like it was going to be viable to continue this year. If you were looking forward to it, I’m sorry.

Maybe we can try next year with one of the more radical ideas we’ve been bouncing around to generate interest, even if it has to be with a reduced size like 8 players.

I think something goofed with your reinvited process on this one, because I didn’t get an invite.

Same here. But I think Yahoo has always been shitty this way, and was the original reason my pay leagues moved to ESPN a decade ago.

Dang, there goes my chance to three-peat, haha.

I’m still down to try the vampire league we discussed a couple of years ago. Maybe next year.
