SDMB All-Pro fantasy football league 2011

The way I see it, we’ve all used Yahoo for this for years. We know how fantasy football works and getting your lineups set according to standard rules is part of the action. If you have plans and can’t set a lineup that’s sort of part of it.

I’m not opposed to the occasional emergency action when something comes up, but they should be the exception, not the rule. Creating a scenario where people are creating injury conditionals every week as standard operating procedure is a recipe for disaster. Especially since it seems like half the league is unaware of this option or unwilling to create extra hassle by using it.

Everything is fair and equal if we just let Yahoo do it’s thing. These special circumstances are more trouble than they are worth and open the door for hurt feelings and fuck ups.

I suppose. I’ve actually been mentioning for years that I’d do it, I just personally haven’t had a need for it until this year, so I’ve only had a handful of requests over the years. It definitely wouldn’t become the norm - it’d just be for unusual circumstances like if someone is going out of town or whatever.

Well, there have been lots and lots of occasions where a player was a game time decision and I had to make a call on who to start the night before due to work/social commitments. For years I’ve worked 3rd shift Saturday nights and was either out or asleep until after kickoff. It was inconvenient, but I never asked the commish to update my lineup based on a pregame announcement. When people do it and I think back to all the times I made do without it feels inequitable. Sure I could have been the squeaky wheel too, but that’s just not the way I roll.

This season I had a case where I got screwed on Brandon Lloyd and Knowshon Moreno’s late scratches. Had I wanted to abuse the system I could have tossed a either/or case up in the thread, but that just isn’t how I learned to play fantasy football.

Despite uninspired performances from my starting Dustin Keller and Dallas DEF, I finally stopped my steady decline. Hopefully, the rest of my team can stay reasonably healthy for at least a few weeks.

My biggest surprise has been Wes Welker. To be honest, I expected decent numbers out of him this season but nothing near what he has been putting up week to week. I keep expecting him to have a terrible week but so far, he just keeps finding ways to produce.

I need Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Forte, and Jason Hanson to make up a 16 point gap against Julio Jones, Jordy Nelson, and the Lions D to beat Great Old Ones.

Court Jesters needs Greg Jennings to outscore the Bears D by 20 to beat Isotopes.

Omni needs 40 points out of Calvin Johnson and Robbie Gould to beat Taz.

Gridbirds has two starting WRs on bye, and yet still may beat Chitwood - he has a 19 point lead with the Packers D left to play against Chitwood’s Stafford and Gonzalez.

you got that backwards, though in the end he may end up doing it anyway

Taz and Gridbirds checking out of the season already?

Allright SenorBeef, looks like we got a pretty good matchup tonight with Forte/Hansen vs. Lions D. Fairley is supposed to play tonight so the Lions line might make it pretty tough on Forte. We’ll see, should be good. I might even take off a little early from work so I can catch the start. Can’t remember the last time I considered rearranging my schedule for a Lions game…lol.

Ironically they both won. But yeah guys, you know the drill - make sure you keep updating your roster even if you’re not going to make the playoffs. I don’t want the fact that someone gets a freebie win over your half-out team to determine whether or not someone else makes the playoffs.

Unless the Lions D scores some defense TDs, I think I’ve got this one.

I lost because of a fucking 24 point game from a kicker. Kickers in fantasy are fucking absurd normally, why the hell is our scoring so out of whack?

I wanted to add penalties to missed kicks years ago so that the most accurate kickers came out relatively better, but I think there was some objection to lowering the value of kickers, so I proposed adding higher value to long range kicks to somewhat balance out the punishment for missed kicks.

I’d be fine with reverting to normal kicking scores next year, or removing the extra points and just keeping the miss penalties, or just even removing kickers entirely.

I like the value of a long, accurate kicker. YMMV.

More than Calvin Johnson? More than Frank Gore? Arian Foster? Tom Brady? He was the 16th highest scoring playing in the league. That’s ridiculous for a kicker who made all of 4 kicks.

Omni and I are pretty much tied. I’ve got Forte, he’s got Gould.

Frosted Lightning needs 8 points out of Dustin Keller to beat The Great Old Ones.

Court Jesters needs 9 out of Peterson to beat Retrovertigo.

Ellis Dee needs 2 points out of the Jets D to beat Chitwood.

This is certainly closer than I’d hoped.

Son of a bitch, lost by a point.

Go go scoring correction.

Gould killed ya

Yeah, sort of. I mean, it’s ultimately all arbitrary to pick one moment of defeat. You could say it’s the last kick Gould made because he was the last person to score on that team, but any source of 1 point puts him over the hump. An extra sack by his defense. An extra reception from his tight end, etc. But yeah it was frustrating to watch.

don’t really know your league’s scoring, but gould had a better than average day for a kicker.

that’s all i’m sayin

Keller has been hurting my heart over the past few weeks. He is more than capable of getting me the points but you never know whats going to happen with the Jets.

There was a stat correction!!!

In omni’s favor.

2.5 point loss, whee.
