SDMB All-Pro fantasy football league 2011

Frosted Lightning needs 43 points out of Welker, Branch, and Green-Ellis to beat Taz.

Omni needs 14 points out of Gronkowski to beat Great Old Ones.

I know it seems insignificant because it’s not like Matt Moore is in high demand (although there’s a chance someone else wanted to snag him but was waiting till the weekend in accordance with our rules), but as per our rules on waiver claims, I have to revert any claims made from a player involved in a Thursday game until they enter the general waiver period of Sunday-Tuesday. So I’m reverting Taz’s claim.

I seriously doubt that I will ever start Hester again. Generally a disappointment, he put up just under 2 points. I am in legitimate jeopardy of Beef’s buddy Graham pulling out 17 points against my beloved Giants. On the plus side, it gives me more to cheer for tonight.

Woo Jimmy Graham. That puts me in the #2 overall seed spot, and in this league having a top seed actually matters.

Really, none of you mopes could beat one of the teams ahead of me?

Isotopes beat New York Fanboys.

Quite badly.

Yeah, but that’s not helping me into the top 4.

True, although only top two really matter - this is a six team playoff league, remember. Which is sort of a legacy thing, I’m not sure it’s a good idea anymore.

Then again, it gives real value to finishing as a top seed since you get a bye, and I really like that.

Next week we’ll have a 5-way tie at 8-4. 4 of us are playing head to head with Ellis being the odd man out. I’ll probably have the lowest score at the end regardless of what I score next week, so I’ll have to root hard for No Use For a Name.

This coming week is actually the last week of the regular season since we have an extra week in the playoffs. 8 wins means you’re in, so I think we’re already good. Only the last slot is up for grabs. The real competition is over the first round byes.

The byes were what I was thinking. 5 teams tied shooting for 2 top seeds. Excitement!

I really like the 6-team playoff set up. The league’s not big enough to go to 8, and those bye games are really valuable. And the scheduling this year makes the final week pretty exciting (not that we could have planned on that or anything).

I shut out Frosted Lightning’s playoff hopes with my win yesterday. Only the 6th seed is in contention. Isotopes, Chitwood, and No Use For a Name have a shot at it. Isotopes and Chitwood are 6 wins with No Use at 5, but they’re all within 12 points of each other, so if Retro wins and the other two lose, he could very well take the tiebreaker. With Isotopes and Chitwood, Isotopes has a 12 point lead. They both have very winnable matchups next week, so it may end up coming down to scoring points, with Chitwood needing to score 12 more.

The first two seeds are still anyone’s to grab, it’s a 5 way tie at 8 wins at the top. The top two current seeds - Court Jesters and I - are playing each other. Due to 4 teams in the top 5 playing each other, the top two seeds will necesarily have 9 wins, so the winner of this game will likely get a top seed. Not necesarily - there are scenarios where one of us wins but gets outscored significantly by two different people, but that’s relatively unlikely.

For the other top seed, Kelly’s Heroes plays Omni, and the loser of that game is definitely out of the race, but the winner isn’t necesarily in. If Ellis Dee wins, he’s only 21 points behind Kelly’s Heroes, making it decently possible that they both win and Ellis Dee makes up the point gap. If Omni and Ellis Dee win, Ellis Dee most likely gets the slot since it’d be hard for Omni to make up the point gap.

Very interesting playoff picture for this week.

I really need Peterson back. I’m gunning for number 1, and the only reason I’m not is he got injured last week.

The last date to make a trade is this Friday, Dec 2. Please check your leagues/offers often during the next few days.

I’m still looking to move a QB (Ryan, Tebow, Freeman) plus a WR (Roddy White, Bowe, Maclin, Gafney) for a top tier QB.

I’d also consider a WR/RB combo (murray, hillis, tolbert) for an upgrade at either position.

Sorry about Forte, and I hope he is back for you soon. However, we would not have been playing for first place had I not gone through the same thing with AP.

It wasn’t close so that wasn’t an issue. The two top scorers got the top seeds, so everything is fine.

This is where I lose the first game next week that I could’ve skipped with a bye, but then put up 150 points in each of the two next game in the consolation bowls making a near-miss run championship.

We have our playoffs.

  1. Court Jesters
  2. Kelly’s Heroes
  3. Exploding Pancakes
  4. New York Fanboys
  5. Omni’s Omnipotents
  6. Isotopes

Round 1, week 14

(1) Court Jesters and (2) Kelly’s Heroes get a bye.

(3) Exploding Pancakes vs (6) Isotopes
(4) New York Fanboys vs (5) Omni’s Omnipotents

I was really trying to justify some way to get Jabar Gafney on my roster but he’s been crap lately and Santana Moss came back. But NE’s secondary was so crappy. But I didn’t. I had 1.8 point Maclin instead of 20 point Gafney. Dumb. Might cost me any chance. Could’ve had 10 point Bowe too, but I was worried about the Palko vs Revis effect.

Isotopes is sitting with 100 with Lloyd and the Bears D still to play. I’m at 65 with Tolbert, Murray, and the Seahawks D.

Omni has 65 points (half of it Gronk) with Alex Smith (that’s the best you can do for the playoffs?!), Fitz, Bush, and Gould to play against Ellis Dee with 58 points and Romo, Witten, and Crosby.

If I have to lose, at least do it by a margin greater than Gaffney would’ve scored, so I don’t have to kick myself in the balls.
