SDMB All-pro fantasy football league 2013

I’m extremely happy with my team. Don’t love the injury risk at RB but I expect to explode out of the gates. This is the league where you can afford to scrimp at RB and I made up for it big time at WR. Was a little worried about passing on Brady/Cam in the 4th but I’m pumped that Kaep made it back around to me. That was the right call.

I figure if at least 1 of my 3 injury prone RBs has a top 10 year I’m golden.

Huh, they added a draft report card this year, sort of like the extra matchup data/stories they added last year. Cool.

Well, I’m pretty lukewarm about my draft. Drafting 2nd sucked - after AP, there are 5 RBs that are all about equal. I thought I might be leaning towards one of them in particular, but I decided to buck the trend a little, and pick up Calvin Johnson. Why? Because I like stacking WRs in this league, and there was an outside chance there wouldn’t be any elite WRs coming back around to me (I was right - no offense to Roddy, Fitz or Cruz). I grabbed Jimmy Graham at the end of the 2nd to get my 2nd top player at position, a strategy that worked very well for me last year.

And thankfully, Reggie Bush was still around. “‘Still’, at 26? With an ADP of around 45?” Yeah - still. Reggie’s going to be a monster this year in this .5PPR format, and he was really the last RB on the board that I really like (I’m sure there’s going to be 10 guys from down-draft that will be awesome, but I can’t count on that).

Coming back around in 4 and 5 I picked up Matt Ryan and Wes Welker. I was really hoping Newton would be around, but Ryan will work. He has a chance to creep up into the top 5 of the QBs this year, but I’ll still be happy if he puts up something shy of last year’s numbers. I wasn’t hoping to get Welker this year - I don’t like the number of targets that Peyton has in Denver. But he always catches it, and he was clearly the best available WR (#8 WR last year, 20th off the board last night).

And then things started falling apart. No Use For A Name stole James Jones out from under me, and I was left drafting Greg Jennings. Maybe he has something to prove this year, being the most recent Green Bay-to-Minnesota exile. Maybe Christian Ponder can get him the ball. Maybe the Vikings brainwash Aaron Rodgers and suit him up and reunite him with Jennings. Maybe I just suck it up and continue loading up on sketchy WRs like Golden Tate… wait… dammit! Tate’s a popular pick these days, but I guess we’ll see if he’s 7th Round popular. I believe in Russell Wilson, and I’ve seen Tate do some amazing things in college, but…

Now I needed a backup RB for Reggie. I ended with the law firm of BenJarvus Green-Ellis. He’s everything that Reggie isn’t - slow and old. He hasn’t even dated a Kardashian, even one of the lesser ones! But he’s a starter, not a project - and if things go according to plan (ha!), I’ll only need him for one week. I then took Sidney Rice, because I was starting to get drunk. Probably would have been better off with Tate’s former teammate Michael Floyd, but whatever. I guess I wanted to latch onto whoever is going to end up the #1 in Seattle, but I’ll likely end up flipping a coin in the last few weeks of the season and regretting this choice.

Rounds 10 and 11 were fun - I backed up my risky BJGE pick with an even riskier Knowshon Moreno (who apparently looks like the starter in Denver, but all that means is that there’s a janitor out there getting ready to take the job from him, because Denver). Then I took Denarius Moore, which I’m trying to justify wasn’t a terrible decision. Someone has to catch the ball in Oakland, right? What’s that - Tyrell Pryor is the QB? Oh. Crap.

I actually like my 12th round Kendall Wright. Kenny Britt will be solid, but is an injury risk. Wright will do well as a WR2 there, and can step up when Britt’s out. I took New England’s DEF too early, I think - but I want to come out of the gate strong, and they play Buffalo and their rookie QB Jeff Tuel Week 1 - so I like my chances of a strong showing there. Josh Freeman was the second-to-last QB off the board - man, QB is deep this year! (Oh, and a quick congrats to The Great Old Ones on his two Snickers Sleeper Picks - we’re all very proud of you.) I then got a kicker, because you gotta have one. I finished off my draft with Tampa Bay’s DEF, because why not? Hell, they play the Jets in Week 1 - maybe they become tradebait.

Final roster:

QB: Matt Ryan (Freeman)
RB: Reggie Bush (BJGE, Moreno)
WR1: Calvin Johnson
WR2: Wes Welker
WR3: Greg Jennings
WR4: Golden Tate (D. Moore, Wright, Rice)
TE: Jimmy Graham
K: Gostkowski
DEF: New England (TB)

I’m calling bullshit on the goddamn yahoo projections. I got not one, but TWO, Snickers Sleeper Picks and I’m still projected to finish in 8th place at 6-7? You hear that? TWO Snickers Sleeper Pics!! Fucking bullshit.

Self review.

  1. (8) Arian Foster (Hou - RB)

I didn’t expect Foster to fall this far so I didn’t really end up looking up his injury status. So when it came around, I wasn’t sure how much I should be worried about this. Trent Richardson and Alfred Morris were the next two options here. But after doing some much research, I think Foster is probably fine and I’m not worried, may even be pretty great value here.

  1. (17) Julio Jones (Atl - WR)

Bryant, Green, Marshall are gone and I’m happy to snag up Jones here. Heavily considered Jones-Drew, think he’s undervalued this year, but I also like Julio.

  1. (32) David Wilson (NYG - RB)

I’m not sure how Wilson’s ADP is so low, so by general consensus this is a reach, but I think he’s going to be a good RB2. I think he’s going to pull away as the primary carrier and has some upside. Wasn’t really worth reaching for a QB here (Brady probably), and I wasn’t thrilled with any of the other RBs or WRs available (Bradshaw, Colston, V Jax)

  1. (41) Cam Newton (Car - QB)

I was actually happy to see a top tier QB fall into the 4th round… QB demand this year was way lower than it was last year, so I felt good snatching him up. In retrospect, seeing what was still available in round 6 I’d probably have scooped up Amendola, Wayne, or Lamar Miller here. Still, not a bad value. I’m a little concerned for Newton’s production since he lost his OC though.

  1. (56) Ryan Mathews (SD - RB)

I was hoping Lamar Miller would fall to here, but I’m getting fooled by Ryan Mathews again. He’s had a good preseason and I keep telling myself one of these years he has to be good, right? I think he’ll be a good RB3… if he keeps it together he could be a top 10 RB at the end of the year. Or he could bust again. No great other options. Jordy Nelson/James Jones are hard to guess at week to week. DeAngelo Williams and Daryl Richardson were the next 2 RBs to go - yeah, I’m way higher on Mathews.
6. (65) Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE)

Really happy with this pic. I feel like his value has taken too big a dump. He’s got weird little injuries that won’t be very debilitating once he’s back from them, it’s not like he tore a knee. I feel like it’ll be a rough start, but by mid-season he’ll be back to Gronk form. Gronk in the playoffs for a 6th round pick is a gift. Plus I figured I’d snatch up one of the TE sleeper candidates to start the season/as backup. I wish I’d have created the flex slot as a W/R/T slot in case both the sleeper and Gronk came alive at the end of the year. Ah well, maybe next year.

  1. (80) Mike Williams (TB - WR)

Well, I’m not in love with him, but I haven’t filled out my other starting WR slot yet. I feel like he has a high floor - he’s going to get 1000 yards. I felt he was lower risk than the following WR picks - Hilton, Thompkins, Austin, Boldin. I’m okay with him as WR2.

  1. (89) Ben Tate (Hou - RB)

Pretty much mandatory as a Foster owner, and okayish value here. Would’ve liked him a round or two later, but someone would’ve probably snatched him up.

  1. (104) Josh Gordon (Cle - WR)

Gordon is way undervalued in fantasy and I’m thrilled to snatch him up here. He’ll probably be my starting WR2 by mid season.

  1. (113) Jordan Cameron (Cle - TE)

Everyone’s favorite sleeper, I’m happy to take him in the 10th round. He’s one of the athletic basketball converts working under a Chud/Norv offense that always emphasizes the TE. I’m actually not as high on him as most of the fantasy hypists… I feel like he doesn’t fight enough and use his size and strength enough for a guy his size, he’s not going to be the next Jimmy Graham, but I do think he’ll catch some TDs and end up in the 5-7 range at the end of the season. Maybe 60/700/8. Good for the 10th round. May end up as trade bait of Gronk comes back at full strength.

  1. (128) Sam Bradford (StL - QB)

Backup QB options were becoming slim pickings. It was him or Cutler.

  1. (137) Houston (Hou - DEF)

Went defense early. Was actually planning to snatch up Seattle except the autodraft team always fills out their roster first so they were taken in like round 8. I probably made a mistake here in that other defenses I liked were available and this could’ve waited a round.

  1. (152) Christine Michael (Sea - RB)

Lottery ticket. I usually try to buy one every year. If Lynch is injured, he seems like the backup most likely (besides Tate) to rise to fantasy stardom.

  1. (161) Phil Dawson (SF - K)

Yeah, wasn’t enamored with anything that was left here so I went kicker early. I have sentimental attachment to Dawson and I was too excited to actually be able to draft him now that I jumped the gun on it. Still, the San Francisco kicker position is usually pretty valuable.

  1. (176) Andre Roberts (Ari - WR)

I don’t really know what’s up in AZ, if he’s going to be supplanted by Floyd, but there’s nothing wrong with him and he put up almost 1000 last year, so it seems like a decent use for a 15th round pick.

  1. (185) Keenan Allen (SD - WR)

Yeah, I dunno, total shot in the dark. I figure the SD receiver situation is such that if Allen is good he could rise up the depth charts quickly. Doubt this will amount to much.

  1. (11) Alfred Morris (Was - RB)
Morris was the no-brainer pick here for me. He is going to get the touches and receptions to set me up for a solid season.

  2. (14) Matt Forte (Chi - RB)
Forte is a great runner and a talented receiver. I expect him to have a great year rushing and, if the preseason is any indication, he will see a nice increase in targets as well. Morris and Forte should prove to be a nice 1-2 punch for me.

  3. (35) Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR)
This is where I looked up and was not too happy about the wide receiver situation that was going on around me. Bowe has the potential to have a great year with Smith leading the Chiefs. Hopefully, the Chiefs find their flow and he becomes a solid fantasy WR. With Smith looking increasingly comfortable, I feel better about Bowe’s ability to come back this season and put up top tier numbers.

  4. (38) Tom Brady (NE - QB)
We have been listening to the media question the NE receiving corps all off season but I am not concerned. Brady will make plays with few mistakes and that works for me. At worst, he fails to put up gaudy numbers week to week and just produces near the top tier. At best, he is a fantasy stud. Given the other options and my position, this was an easy pick to make.

  5. (59) Vernon Davis (SF - TE)
Vernon Davis is a great TE and I was not too sure how the TE situation would play out. I was tempted to go with Wallace or Jackson on this pick but with Davis still on the board it felt like a better way to balance out my team.

  6. (62) Cecil Shorts (Jac - WR)
If Shorts had been taken, I would have gone with Jackson here. With Blackmon out for the first 4 games, I expect to see a lot of action headed in Shorts direction. Fortunately, he has proven that he has the talent to turn those opportunities into big plays.

  7. (83) Rashard Mendenhall (Ari - RB)
Injury prone but I do not expect to have to use him for every matchup. Mendenhall is a great runner and I remember watching him impress me when I lived in Pittsburgh. The Arizona situation plus a knee that’s an injury magnet, makes him shaky as a fantasy option but it is hard to pass on him at this point when I have weaknesses at WR.

  8. (86) Miles Austin (Dal - WR)
No idea why it seems as if people are so down on Austin. He’s a solid receiver who has had some injury issues but is still puts up consistent enough numbers. A healthy and productive Bryant will help him because Austin is not a number one. This pick made me feel a little better about my WR options and Austin has looked very healthy so far.

  9. (107) Antonio Gates (SD - TE)
A little sad that Gordon did not make it back around to me but I was not surprised. Gates is a consistent threat and will have nice numbers. I would be doing backflips if we had W/R/T flex but I am still happy to have Gates around as a 2nd option for tricky matchups.

  10. (110) Andy Dalton (Cin - QB)
Lots of teams still needed QBs and I needed a backup without a BYE week conflict. Dalton’s biggest issues tend to show up in the playoffs but that is after our season so he still has nice value as my second option. I also see CIN making some serious moves in the AFC North this season.

  11. (131) San Francisco (SF - DEF)
Defenses tend to start disappearing around the 12 or 13th so I decided to grab a great one. Also, Defense (usually) wins championships!

  12. (134) Rueben Randle (NYG - WR)
Injury issues with Giants receivers makes Randle a must have at this point in the draft. The two guys ahead of him have been in and out and we are just finishing up the preseason. I love getting cheap WRs with plenty of upside.

  13. (155) Joique Bell (Det - RB)
Bush is the guy in Detroit but who knows how that will play out. Bell will definitely get a decent share of the reps and he is a nice passing threat out of the backfield. If this was back in Bush’s younger days I would not be as keen on having Bell but as a talented and clear number 2, I love that I was able to pick him up this late.

  14. (158) Aaron Dobson (NE - WR)
WR3 in NE who was legitimately contending for #2. It would be nice to see him come around and get some increased looks but no harm if it doesn’t work out. Thompkins looks like the guy for now but its always hard to say in NE where they are definitely looking for someone to step it up receptions-wise.

  15. (179) Mohamed Sanu (Cin - WR)
Alum of a rival HS + Rutgers = Loads of Jersey love.

  16. (182) Sebastian Janikowski (Oak - K)
My kicker can definitely beat up your kicker. Enough said. Also, he has a pretty accurate leg so that’s a nice bonus.

Kiros - Last Place

  1. (4) Doug Martin (TB - RB)
The choice here for me was Martin, Rice, or Spiller. I have Spiller in another league and I like to diversify to avoid the potential for maximum misery when possible. Martin over Rice was just a feeling.

  2. (21) Stevan Ridley (NE - RB)
The opportunity to grab a second running back and make a homer pick, you say? Yes, please. Also, I think WR is super deep this year, QB is very deep to a point, and RB is particularly not deep, especially once you add the second flex. That matters more for…

  3. (28) Frank Gore (SF - RB)
I was not thrilled with this pick. In retrospect I don’t mind it as much, but it still backed me into a corner with my roster construction. The problem is that I felt like WRs were really overdrafted for the first several rounds, and Gore was the last 100% Trust running back on the board (though every time I draft, I think David Wilson is getting closer to that top group).

  4. (45) Hakeem Nicks (NYG - WR)
This is what I mean about being backed into a bit of a corner. In particular, I wanted Amendola or Wayne here fairly badly. I also completely whiffed on the fact that Welker was still on the board, or I’d have grabbed him first. This can’t be my least favorite pick of the draft, though, because…

  5. (52) Eric Decker (Den - WR)
… Eric Decker is easily my least favorite pick of the draft. I don’t think any of the Denver WRs are really that good, frankly, and I still view Manning as a bit of a higher injury risk than I think most do. As it was, this pick was a calculated risk for me, but I’ll get to that in a moment as well. Even looking back, though, I don’t see much of a better pick here given that I already had the three RB slots filled. I’m not noticeably more confident in, say, Antonio Brown this season (just to use the next WR picked) than I am in half a dozen guys taken 2-3 rounds later.

  6. (69) Robert Griffin III (Was - QB)
I took a really big (and probably unnecessary) risk with my fifth pick: I have QB going 10 deep with acceptable choices this year. I think that the top several of those are being relatively overvalued, and the back several of those are being relatively undervalued. Basically, in every draft I’ve been in this year, I’ve wanted to be the ninth or tenth guy to pick a QB. Well, at the time of my fifth pick, there were four QBs left on the board from that top 10, there were four teams picking before my next pick that did not already have a QB, and each of them got to pick twice. The happiest moment of my draft was when OVerly Sentimental took Daryl Richardson - who I really like, by the way - with the pick before mine in the sixth and I got to grab RG3. I’m not in love with my team but I really think getting RG3 this late gives me what upside I do have.

  7. (76) Shane Vereen (NE - RB)
Value on his own, additional value as a backup to Ridley. Easy pick after the mini-run of WRs in between this pick and the previous.

  8. (93) Lance Moore (NO - WR)
I seriously think Lance Moore will have a better season than Eric Decker. I was very happy to get him at this point.

  9. (100) Giovani Bernard (Cin - RB)
I actually wanted Sidney Rice here, and I thought long and hard about Josh Gordon, but I already took that particular risk in another league. Added some more RB depth.

  10. (117) Malcom Floyd (SD - WR)

Random Upside WR number 1. One of the results of our fascination with WRs early was that we really attacked guys who have little business starting as our backups. Normally adding a flex would gut the RB depth chart, we kind of went the other way.

  1. (124) Alshon Jeffery (Chi - WR)

Random Upside WR number 2, and I like him more than Floyd. Once of these years Cutler is going to have to throw to someone else… maybe?

  1. (141) Matt Schaub (Hou - QB)

I’d have preferred Josh Freeman here, but apparently we had decided that with the extra bench spot we were all going to draft two quarterbacks, and Freeman’s bye week is the same as RG3’s. So, yeah, hello Mr. Blah.

  1. (148) Martellus Bennett (Chi - TE)

I was vaguely annoyed that No Use For a Name grabbed Brandon Myers with the pick after I took Schaub; I had picked Myers out several rounds previously as the guy that I would grab later in the draft, since every other team had already taken a TE by round 10. I mean, TEs can’t even go in the flex spots as they’re set up in our league. Oh well, I also like Bennett as a guy with at least a little upside.

  1. (165) St. Louis (StL - DEF)

I tend to switch defenses a bunch, and they have a good week 1 matchup. There was no one else on the board I really had to have so I figured I’d get a mini-jump on defense and kicker over everyone who was waiting until the very end.

  1. (172) Justin Tucker (Bal - K)

He’s a kicker! I had held some brief hope that I would get Gostkowski, but alas.

  1. (189) Roy Helu (Was - RB)

Um, another random backup RB? We really cleaned up the various 3rd/4th WRs and backup RBs pretty thoroughly.

I don’t love my roster, but I think the automated report card is probably underrating me a little bit as well. My stable of RBs should be just that, stable, and I’m hoping that plus some RG3 magic is enough to make the playoffs and then roll the proverbial dice. But who knows, because it’s fantasy football, and the best teams right now have a ridiculously low correlation with the best teams a month from now…!

  • No Use For A Name
  1. (3) Jamaal Charles (KC - RB)
I think that if Charles can stay healthy for 16 games, with the .5 ppr, in a Reid offense he could have a really nice year.

  2. (22) Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)
After last year’s run at QB in all leagues I wanted to be ahead of the pack, but it never materialized. I wish that I would have waited and grabbed Brady or Cam a couple rounds later.

  3. (27) Roddy White (Atl - WR)
A nice top end Wideout with real downfield ability. I’d rather would have had Julio of the two but… Actually looking back I wish I would have pick Jimmy Graham.

  4. (46) Torrey Smith (Bal - WR)
A big play threat, but has been a little hit or miss. Hopefully he gets more involved in the offense instead of just running 9-Routes.

  5. (51) Darren McFadden (Oak - RB)
If only he can stay healthy. I know. I know.

  6. (70) James Jones (GB - WR)
TDs are a weird thing in that you can’t predict them. I actually like having a QB/WR duo, although most don’t.

  7. (75) Jason Witten (Dal - TE)
Didn’t like this pick, but does get a lot of receptions. Supposedly they are working on more Red-zone targets.

  8. (94) Stevie Johnson (Buf - WR)
If only they had a QB to throw it.

  9. (99) Mark Ingram (NO - RB)
I needed a RB and he need a owner. match made in meh.

  10. (118) Justin Blackmon (Jac - WR)
I’m counting on him being able to build on his last five games of last season.

  11. (123) Carson Palmer (Ari - QB)
I always look at matchups with my back-up QB for my bye week, and totally misread the schedule.

  12. (142) Brandon Myers (NYG - TE)
    A pretty good under-the-radar TE.

  13. (147) Cincinnati (Cin - DEF)

  14. (166) Blair Walsh (Min - K)

  15. (171) Mikel Leshoure (Det - RB)
Thought he had a chance to be the #2 back if/when Bush gets hurt but apparently not.

  16. (190) Donnie Avery (KC - WR)
I take the #2 WR in a Reid offense with a 16th round pick anytime. KC actually has some good talent around the ball.

Omniscient - Omnipotents

  1. (12) Dez Bryant (Dal - WR)
  2. (13) Brandon Marshall (Chi - WR)
  3. (36) DeMarco Murray (Dal - RB)
  4. (37) Ahmad Bradshaw (Ind - RB)
  5. (60) Colin Kaepernick (SF - QB)
  6. (61) DeAngelo Williams (Car - RB)
  7. (84) T.Y. Hilton (Ind - WR)
  8. (85) Kenbrell Thompkins (NE - WR)
  9. (108) Danny Woodhead (SD - RB)
  10. (109) Jared Cook (StL - TE)

  11. (132) Jay Cutler (Chi - QB)

  12. (133) Michael Bush (Chi - RB)

  13. (156) Zach Sudfeld (NE - TE)

  14. (157) Denver (Den - DEF)

  15. (180) Riley Cooper (Phi - WR)

  16. (181) Matt Prater (Den - K)

Generally I’m a RB-RB guy and this year I felt that was particularly important due to the scarcity at the position, but I’m also not a fan of being dogmatic or locked into a strategy. So, finding myself stuck a the turn and knowing that this is a .5 PPR league I decided to go off script a little.

  1. (12) Dez Bryant (Dal - WR)
  2. (13) Brandon Marshall (Chi - WR)

Got my 2nd and 3rd rated receivers in the draft here and both have the potential to beat Megatron in points come the end of the season. I think this can be very effective.

  1. (36) DeMarco Murray (Dal - RB)
  2. (37) Ahmad Bradshaw (Ind - RB)

It’s a LONG wait between picks and I knew that I was going RB-RB here or else I was screwed. Health is a issue with both guys of course, but this was the best that was left and at least neither guy is on the wrong end of a time share and Bradshaw may very well end up the workhorse in Indy. My only other options were the rookies (who I have voiced my dislike for elsewhere) or the even more injury prone Ryan Matthews and McFadden.

  1. (60) Colin Kaepernick (SF - QB)
  2. (61) DeAngelo Williams (Car - RB)

Yawn…back up again and looking to fill my last 2 important starting spots (sorry TE, you don’t count this year). I’m not that high on Kaep since last year was such a small sample size but he’s being going higher than this in most drafts I’ve seen and of the new “mobile” QBs he’s the most likely to sustain those rushing numbers. I won’t rehash my comments from the HHM thread but I think Williams is undervalued dramatically this year and will make a really nice Flex play.

  1. (84) T.Y. Hilton (Ind - WR)
  2. (85) Kenbrell Thompkins (NE - WR)

Things got a little weird this round, but I decided to double down on that PPR league strategy that I settled on by grabbing a pair of high upside WRs who could justify flex plays. Each guy is in a great situation and could be a monster this year. I’m a little surprised by the quality of RBs left on the board at this point which makes me question that DeAngelo pick a tad.

  1. (108) Danny Woodhead (SD - RB)
  2. (109) Jared Cook (StL - TE)

Quite a few RBs and TEs fly off the board in the 2 rounds in between here which forces my hand a little. In the end I’m reasonably excited about getting Woodhead in a PPR style league but in retrospect I should have taken Moreno. Cook is a guy I’ve been ending up with a lot and I’m hoping he puts it together this season for me, this pick was biased a bit by a impressive showing by Cook in the 3rd preseason game.

  1. (132) Jay Cutler (Chi - QB)

  2. (133) Michael Bush (Chi - RB)

Couple of homer picks I guess. I tend to over rate Cutler naturally, but I think he’s a pretty nice QB2 option this year. It’'s a contract year in a west coast system so he might wind up being top 10 instead of top 15/20. It’s also worth noting that the Bears offense looks to be dramatically improved this year. Bush was a little bit of a panic pick, my RBs are somewhat shaky and Bush might be the top TD vulture to have this season. Pierre Thomas might have been a smarter pick here, but NO RBs always scare me off.

  1. (156) Zach Sudfeld (NE - TE)

  2. (157) Denver (Den - DEF)

Strange that I was able to get both NE fantasy darlings in this league without really reaching for them. I’m not totally drinking the Kool-aid on them but I dig the value and upside of Sudfeld here. Not sure if I love the Denver defense in the wake of the Von Miller and Dumervil fiascoes but they play Oakland, San Diego and Kansas City twice. KC might be greatly improved (or at least less turnover prone) but the rest should make for easy pick’ens.

  1. (180) Riley Cooper (Phi - WR)

  2. (181) Matt Prater (Den - K)

So I get mocked for the Cooper pick, but if you buy the Chip Kelly hype at all don’'t you have to assume that Cooper has a lot of upside? They aren’t exactly flush with WRs and the Eagles valued Cooper enough to stick with him after the N-bombs so I’m guessing he has a important role in the offense. Fuck it, I’m calling this pick a steal! I think Prater is a top 3 kicker so I dig that pick, one of the few perks of drafting at the turn is that you get the first pick of the last round and beat the kicker rush.

I’ve probably never written a FF draft review of myself where I didn’t love my team and think I was going to win it all, but I especially think I have a stout team here. RB is a weakness and injuries will be my downfall, but those WRs will carry me a long ways. If Kaep builds on last year’s finish I’ll be really tough to beat week-to-week so long as I get something out of those RB spots.

I don’t normally try to cross post about leagues in different threads, but I had 2 last minute cancellations in the big league and I need replacements quickly. Draft is tonight at 8:45 eastern, but you probably have to join the league an hour before then. The league is really interesting - 20 teams spreads the talent really thin, it’s definitely fun. If you’re interested PM me your e-mail and I’ll send out the invite - be at your computer this afternoon.

Well, Victor Cruz did his best to save my ass last night, but Kelly’s Heroes couldn’t be stopped. Good game, Munch!

Seems like Beef and I are the only ones coming down to Monday night. I have a slight lead and 2 players (Johnson and Daniels), while he has 3 (Foster, Matthews, and Houston DEF). If you’re going to beat me, Senor, beat me with a monster game by Matthews as that will give me a chance in Auction.

I thought I was a heavy favorite until David Wilson completely shit the bed.

Cruz had me worried there for a bit. Looking at your roster, I’m surprised it wasn’t closer. And looking at mine, I can’t wait to see what it’ll do once Megatron gets up to speed.

This was my least homer year drafting, and I was very surprised by people drafting David Wilson. He wasn’t rated very high to begin with, and I still thought he was overrated, even as a starter. Plus, he can’t block for crap, but that matters little in fantasy.

MJD shit the bed, with a whole 45 yards rushing. CJ Spiller shit the bed as well, so there’s the reason I lost, along with the fact you had Wes Welker, Reggie Bush, etc. I deserved to get my ass whooped.

Does anyone want Gronkowski or Cameron?

I despise Antonio Brown right now…that is all.

Figured I’d at least bump this up a bit.

Season assessment so far… meh. Peterson has been the stud he was expected to be and I’m pretty happy with D. Thomas and Garcon as my receivers. Chris Johnson is killing it at about 3.0 ypc, hooray. However, Lamar Miller and Leveon Bell will hopefully pick up the slack. I really regret not taking a TE earlier in the draft and getting stuck with Rudolph - it’s never a good play to have TWO starters from the Vikings. Hopefully Heath Miller can at least be 80% of what’s he’s been the past couple of years so I don’t feel like I’m giving one position away every week. Seems like all that talk about Indy running the ball more wasn’t a bunch of preseason smoke, Luck’s numbers are decent but he isn’t picking up the garbage time points like he did last year. Looks like he’ll be platooning with Rivers based on matchup unless on of them really picks it up.

So, overall… meh.
