Tell me about it. That’s the interface I have to use to handle all the roster changes after the draft for traded picks, which ends up being over a dozen picks. Last year it approached 30.
That dropdown list is remarkably unordered; if you tried to make it harder to use, I don’t think you could.
Results are that Ellis Dee picks up Ward (RB, NYG) and Quentin’s Jammers picks up Nate Burleson.
You guys can sign the picks yourselves to your roster.
New waiver order is
Isotopes
The Opposites
Frosted_Lightning
Exploding Pancakes
Tazmanian Devils
No Use For A Name
The Concussions
Court Jesters
chitwood
The Gridbirds
New York Fanboys
Quentin’s Jammers
Free agency opens at midnight.
When people release players now, they’ll be subject to the normal yahoo waiver system. If you choose to pick up someone’s cut player in the waiver period, you will use a waiver claim. Just wanted to make it clear that both our custom waiver system, and yahoo’s automatic waiver system, use the same waiver list.
Looks like Taz is heading to the top score for both weeks.
We have a fun Monday night battle brewing - Ellis Dee, 62.95 points, and Donovan McNabb vs Quentin’s Jammers, 70.14 points, and Brian Westbrook. I’m leaning towards Jammers, but it should be a good one. Also Chitwood, 83.22, Sanata Moss and LJ Smith vs The Concussions and 100.57 points.
Ha-ha.
(But I did that one myself in my salary cap league :/)
In fact my homerism and then non-homerism screwed me over. In the first week I played homers that didn’t work out, so I decided - okay - obviously there’s some suckage going on here and I have to go with my head instead of my heart, so I sit Braylon Edwards and Jamal Lewis (in both of my leagues) and they put up 30.4 and 28.5 points respectively.
Had I started my homers (over Fitzgerald and Brown), I’d be at 145.12 points.
You can also see why I had such a hard-on for Winslow.
On the plus side I did make one smart move - picked up the GB defense in free agency for 12 instead of sticking with Miami for -9.
A cool feature for the soring would be a cumulative total of bench points tracked by yahoo, so you could see who would’ve done really well if only they’d have made the best starting decisions.
I think I’m gonna get the yahoo live tracker thing, they suckered me in with the free preview during week 1. I didn’t get it originally because I was rarely at home during the games, but it’s nice to get the scores after the game rather than waiting a day, and it has some cool features like the optimal lineup scoring view and such.
Tazmanian Devils 139.62
The Gridbirds 130.17
Frosted_Lightning 121.19
The Opposites 116.14
Oh, and top 4 scores last week because I forgot to do it:
Tazmanian Devils 140.37
The Opposites 140.15
The Gridbirds 134.45
Court Jesters 106.37
Top 4 overall scores:
Tazmanian Devils 279.99
The Gridbirds 264.62
The Opposites 256.29
Exploding Pancakes 205.91
You’ve gotten lucky on matchups so far Jammers - undefeated, but 11th in total score. Not that your team is 11th best, or even close - just that your opponent’s teams have imploded harder than yours
No joke. This is turning into a mirror image of last year-- I have a horrible team but I keep getting lucky on matchups and winning a majority of games. That won’t happen this year of course, I think I got screwed the most on bye weeks, but I’ll take it while I can. My picks have been abysmal and it has been a perfect storm of a bad season for me so far. It’s hilarious-- I’ve been perfectly right about moves I didn’t make, and comicaly bad about moves I have made. Not my year.
I didn’t deserve that first win at all. My team was better the second time around, but thanks to Cleveland finally learning how to score, I scratched out another win I didn’t earn.
Pending trade: Quentin’s Jammers gives Ronald Curry and Kellen Winslow to me for Larry Fitzgerald and Benjamin Watson.
I’ve been trying to work out a deal for Winslow since the draft. He’s had a productive first two weeks and barring injury issues I expect him to keep it up. Watson has also had a productive first 2 weeks - at least in terms of TDs - but I’m not sure I can rely on his points in an offense with so many good receivers.
So far Curry has outproduced Fitz by a TD and about 40 yards, although I expect Fitz to outperform Curry by the end of the year. A key part of the decision for me is that I think Braylon Edwards is ready to step up to being my WR2.
So this deal is EsotericEnigma giving up actual production so far, with me giving up potential. Overall it seems like a fair deal, so I don’t anticipate objections. It might favor him - depends on how high you think Curry’s ceiling is I guess.
Having 3 Cleveland players might backfire on me though. I don’t expect 51 points every week obviously, but I certainly do expect better than 7 like the previous week.
Is there a limit as to when a team has to add a player won during waivers? I don’t think this was discussed.
I don’t think it would be fair to poach Wynn off of Court Jesters at this point but if he doesn’t pick him up does Wynn have to clear waivers again next week? I notice that he hasn’t checked the league since yesterday so he probably doesn’t realize that he got him but I’m just thinking in the hypothetical here.
I hadn’t really considered it. Last week I proposed that teams be obligated to sign the waiver claims they won, which didn’t see much discussion, but if we’re playing by that rule then at some point he’s going to have to pick him up (and drop someone else if necesary).
But… the person he might drop to pick up Wynn will be on a 2 day waiver, and it’s good if that waiver period ends before the next week’s games, so perhaps we should propose a rule that won claims must be picked up within 24 hours? In the event that someone’s not sure if they’ll be able to do it, they can tell me who they’d like to drop to accomodate the player and I can make their roster moves for them.
The rules could conflict though if someone is required to sign someone, but doesn’t in 24 hours. We’d have to figure out what to do in that case.
Unfortunately, my current assignment blocks fantasy sports. Sometimes I can surf by on my PDA, but that’s a pain. If I get home early, and can cajole my wife or daughter to give up one of the PCs, I can make my moves during the week. Otherwise, most of my stuff is done on the weekend.
I’ll try and pick up Wynn now. Depends on the connection.
Hmmmmmmm, Jamal Lewis or Ronnie Brown? I’m leaning towards Lewis, but…
"Sep 20 Brown may see an increased workload in Week 3 against the Jets, the Miami Herald reports.
Recommendation: After abandoning the run in the first two games, coach Cam Cameron realizes Brown needs more carries if he’s going to have any chance to succeed, and the Jets are the perfect team against which to implement this change. “You always want to run the ball better,” said Cameron. “Given a choice against certain defenses, you’d like to run the ball more…” The Jets defense is ranked 29th against the run, and Brown happened to have had two of his best games against them in 2006, surpassing 100 yards in both contests. Bet on him in Week 3 and hope the Dolphins’ defense is stiff enough to keep them from falling behind early. "
Does anyone want Brown, by the way, while his value sucks? Throw me an offer.
Does anyone know of a site that breaks down defenses with respect to fantasy players? A site that listed defenses as “29th against the pass, 15th against the run, 19th in scoring” would be okay, a site with “X team gave up 215 passing yards in week one, 275 in week 2…” would be better, and one that said “this team has given #1 WRs 48 yards per week and #2 WRs 75 yards per week” would be great.
Ouch SenorBeef. At least homerism isn’t killing just me this season.
Way to go to my Eagles, glad they finally broke out, and maybe people will shut up about McNabb being “done.” Philly fans are the dumbest in sports. And yes, I bet the Lions to cover. I don’t think I’ll have a single winning week this season. At least the Eagles won!
I THOUGHT I had started Favre over Romo, but apparently not. However, it didn’t kill me too badly, as Romo had himself a pretty nice game against the supposedly fierce Bears defense. I stand in a pretty good position after the games tonight, however I am not celebrating a victory yet, as the Fanboys have the explosive Reggie Bush yet to play. I’m gonna be sweating this one out.
I played Ronnie Brown in another league. Despite his lack of performance, it was against the Jets. He was due. My 3 point win was all due to Ronnie’s extra effort.
