SDMB All-Pro Fantasy Football League

Keep in mind that Evans started this poorly last season too and ended up a fantastic fantasy player overall, a fact that led me to hold on to him for as long as I did. He’s also faced incredibly tough matchups so far, and has insanely good matchups down the wire. I didn’t want to trade him, and he’s far, far undervalued because of his performace so far. If I thought I could have kept him, I would have.

Is there any doubt Henry is a first round quality back? Look at what he’s done, and there’s no indication that he’s likely to slow down in that system. Every RB is an injury risk (including LJ, and his league leading carries over the last two years). I’m definitely buying low on LJ and hoping for a resurgence, but that’s the risk-- I may not get anything for the investment and I’m out a top ten back. It’s boom or bust for me, and I have to go all in here because my team should, by all rights, be 0-3.

Unpredictable year so far for RBs.

Top 5:
Westbrook
LaMont Jordan
Barber III
Ronnie Brown
Addai.
I actually have 2 of the top 5 RBs… which would normally be good, except that I didn’t start one when he put up 45 of his 62 points.

But at least it bodes well for the future - this should reduce the pressure to share carries for Brown.

Of the top 10 RBs, only 2 were first rounders in our draft.

Sammy Morris is above Steven Jackson, Maroney, and Larry Johnson.

Houston is the #3 defense.

Perhaps it’s time for me to start looking for my ‘The End Of The World Is Nigh’ sign.

No use for a name - if you read the forums anymore - adjust your roster. I want to crush you at full strength.

I have the highest projected fantasy score in both my leagues this week. This is the week I get back on track.

An issue to clear up for the future.

Last year when we had people who gave up, we had the issue of their teams losing because they didn’t adjust their rosters when they had injured or bye players.

It screwed up the league because getting matched up against someone like that was an automatic win for the other team.

Now… I don’t anticipate the same degree of problem with this league, because we’re all dedicated players. But in the event that people leave out/injured players on their rosters, because they forgot to set it before going out of town, or whatever other reasons, should we correct that?

Last year we had the commissioner adjust the rosters of absent people, starting whoever the yahoo-projected best starter was. Do we want to do something like that this year?

In this case, the guy I’m up against has 2 out players. If I check before the games start tomorrow morning and it still is that way, should I adjust his roster? Or should we just assume people here are attentive enough, and any problems are their responsibility?

Give them until 2 hours before gametime; if people on ‘bye’ or IR are still on roster, use Yahoo! recommended roster.

At leasts, that’s my vote.

I’m leaning towards not making commissioner adjustments to a team unless someone has abandoned it entirely.

But I can retroactively start McNair on No Use For A Name’s roster, so I’ll leave it alone for now, and go back and change it if more people chime in with the opinion that I should.

For now, he has the option of picking up free agents from the later games (or set his starters now, if he’s fast enough) if he comes back in time.

Good news everyone! Ronnie Brown doesn’t suck!

I know you were all worried.
What’s the deal with dropping Rudi Johnson? He’s not out for the season, so I can’t understand it. I don’t want to intervene in anyone’s behavior so long as they’re honestly trying to act in their own best interest - but I can’t see how that’s the case here.

I played once in a league with no bench… bye weeks or injuries, you either dropped the player or took a zero in the position for a week. That’s the only reason I can imagine dropping Rudi.

By the way, the theory for the league was awesome. In practice, it was just disgustingly nerve-wracking. There would be crucial games at the end of the season where you’d see “username has dropped LaDanian Tomlinson/ username has added Samkon Gado”

I really wish Rudi hadn’t been dropped. I wish I had the chance to make the roster move this morning that I wanted to. This is going to be a very bad week for me, I think.

I wanted to bring that up for discussion. I don’t want to micro-manage people’s roster decisions, but this appears to be cutting a top tier player for no reason. Our league rules are set up under the necesary assumption that everyone will be reasonably acting in their own interest - someone making irrational moves can disrupt the balance of the league. Unless Rudi is expected to be out most or out of the season, this action is pretty damaging to balance, and unless I’m missing something, can’t reasonably be construed to be in Frosted Lightning’s best interest.

So…wtf?

From what I’ve heard from pundits, Rudi has lost it. It’s almost a blessing that he was injured, because he’s lost his successful north-south running style for the always-ineffective “dance around in the backfield” style. A look at his career stats shows that his per-carry average is way down.

I’m not saying I necessarily agree with the drop, but I don’t know that I’d be eager to spend a top waiver priority on him.

Even if he’s gone from top tier to second tier, dropping him Marty Booker…? I can’t imagine his decline is that swift.

I sent Frosted a PM asking him to explain what’s going on here. I may extend Johnson’s waiver period for a few days while we discuss the issue.

On an unrelated note, guess who’s the top scoring fantasy RB. Ronnie Brown. Really.

I’d like to thank those of you who rejected my trade offers.

I now have #1 and #2, Joseph Addai.

Here’s a lesson for all you kids out there-- Never leave important lineup decisions to Sunday morning, because your internet WILL go down and it WILL cost you 50 points.

So, who was playing the Giants defense this weekend?

Woohoo, no longer winless! It’s all up from here!

Frosted Glass posted on the league page:

“I misread a source concerning his availability for weeks to come and dropped the ball. Especially since I don’t have any real reliable running backs”

He also replied to my PM with something similar - bad info from a source.

In the interest of league balance, unless there’s strong objection from the rest of you, I want to revert his drop.

This isn’t about my personal benefit at all - I’m #2 in waivers, and if the #1 guy doesn’t check the league often enough then I’d get Rudi, so reverting this change hurts me. I just wanted to make it clear that I’m trying to objectively maintain league balance

Kick him to the end of the waiver priority at least.

Given that you did start the player that you picked up when you dropped Rudi, not that he did great, but he still started, dropping waiver priority to the back after reverting the claim seems fair enough. Anyone object?

nope

Since this is the most likely outcome given the responses, what exactly would that mean for everyone else in the league?

I like how the Giants D actually started playing up to their potential for once in the season. About damn time.
