SDMB All-Pro Fantasy Football

Indeed sir, you have detailed why it sucks.

What’s annoying is that they have a perfectly adequate player selection function written up, but don’t use it there.

So, I just replaced Tom Brady with Chad Pennington.

Of the Miami Dolphins.

:frowning:

(anyone got a decent backup QB they want to deal?)

Please try to make waiver requests by 9pm eastern tonight if you could. I may not be able to get internet access at midnight tonight, so I may have to post waiver results earlier.

This should be the last week of this - I’m going home this weekend.

Waiver results were posted in the leagues themselves and free agency opened at midnight.

Sorry for the sloppiness, should be solid next week when I get home.

Frosted Lightning posted smack asking me if I was sure I wanted the QB I was using (Jason Campbell) - I’m confused. Is he hurt or something? Or is FL an Arizona fan and that was homer smack talk?

Hehe, hes not injured Campbell just screwed me over in one of my other leagues last year. I also thought you were starting Pennington originally so I was surprised to see someone who might spend some time off his back.

I think you owe the Kansas City Chiefs an angry letter.

I was on my way to start Ronnie Brown over Julius Jones when I hit the 5 minute deadline for roster changes between games.

Now he has 3 TDs at halftiime.

Oh well. It’s looking like I have a variety of good RBs I can attempt to trade in order to get someone who’s not Chad Pennington/Jason Campbell.

Btw, Quentin’s Jammers (I forget your new SDMB name), sorry I didn’t respond to that trade offer last week. I didn’t have internet access for a while and couldn’t look up future matchups and other stuff. I’m receptive to deals again.

Pennington isn’t looking too shabby today. Something told me to start Slaton over McFadden but I never would have guessed that he would have done this well.

Where do you go to watch NFL games when you leave the house? (I used to live off of Grand Canyon between Sahara and Desert Inn)

Depends on the game. Most of the time I just go to the BW3 down the street from me on Craig. Lots of TVs, I know people, they’ve got wifi so I can check fantasy scores on my ipod touch, etc.

For important Browns games I’ll got a Browns backers bar, there’s one on Charleston.

For primetime games I’ll go to the Galaxy theaters next to the Cannery - they have all the primetime games on an HDTV feed on a 60 foot screen for free. It’s pretty awesome.

At least I hope they’re still doing that this year… I just got back yesterday. I’m going to ask when I head up to the sports book soon to put a bet on the Browns +2.5 at the Ravens.

(I figure the bet works psychologically, if I lose, I won’t care because my mind will be completely occupied by the murderous rage I have towards Romeo Crennel).

All good! I knew you had intermittent internet access, it was just a flyer.

As badly as I got beat this week, I’m kind of glad you sat Ronnie Brown SenorBeef. Not sure how I would’ve felt getting crushed by a 5 TD player in addition to everyone else.

I am now in the market for a defense that will not take points away from me.

I HATE THE STUPID POINTLESS WINDOWS KEY ON KEYBOARDS.

I was just typing up a long post and accidentally hit windows key + whatever key spontaneously makes everything you just spent the last 7 minutes working on dissapear.

So anyway, it was a good week for my running backs. My top 3 combined for 94.1 points.

Reggie Bush is currently the #1 overall fantasy scorer, especially valuable in our league with the partial PPR.

Ronnie Brown is in 5th and he’s starting to look like the guy who put up 40+ weeks a few times before getting hurt.

Julius Jones, who I thought would be fairly mediocre, has been pretty good, the 9th place back, averaging over 100 YPG and has 2 TDs.

Kevin Fucking Smith might be good if Detroit manages to not find itself down 21-0 at the end of the first quarter one of these games.

Jamal Lewis got stronger as last year went on and hopefully that happens again. Or ideally some sort of passing game starts at some point to open up some room…
Anyway, all of them are up for trade. I’m not desperate for any position (Jason Campbell is looking pretty not bad) but QB is clearly my weakness. Roddy White is looking fairly studly so far… I figured if he could put up 1200+ yards with Harrington and Redman, he’s got some talent.

I’ll be looking over rosters and making offers, but feel free to come to me if you’re interested.

Well, down 9 points to Kiros in a battle of the undefeateds, I just made an 11th hour switch of Sproles for Tomlinson, cementing for all time Ladainian Tomlinson’s hold on the single-game rushing and scoring records.
*
This date in history, September 22, 2008: Questionable because of a toe injury but invigorated by the primetime spotlight, Ladainian Tomlinson rushed for 800 billion yards and seven thousand touchdowns. Darren Sproles rushed twice for one yard and returned a kick for twelve more.*

Ouch.

Yeah, in a totally not surprising development, I should have stuck with Tomlinson. Sproles did just enough to get me the win, though.

Lucky you. In the Keeper League I switched in Chester Taylor for Tomlinson, and it cost me the game.

When I found the commissioner’s note regarding the waiver system on a thread from last year, I posted an earlier version that was a little ambiguous on the timing of events.

I added “Waiver claims will be accepted up until 11pm on Tuesday. Between 11pm and 12, I will post the results of the waiver claims, and at 12, all unclaimed players are available to be signed as free agents.” to clear that up.

My bad, I thought I was pasting the final version from last year which included that information. I didn’t read closely enough.

This is something I posted to the thread for the other league I run, but I figured I’d post it here too since it was relevant:

Ellis Dee and I are almost precisely tied, 68.79 to 68.78. It’s his Brandon Lloyd vs my Philadelphia defense. Should be interesting.

Taz has 3 points and the Pittsburgh D against Chitwood and McNabb.

Isotopes needs to get 10 points out of Hines Ward and David Akers.

Look Down.

Right now I have a 22 point lead over Taz but he still has Brees left. Brees against the Vikings is more than able to make up the 22 point difference. Fortunately for me, I still have Lance Moore (Saints WR) left to play so as long as some of those points from Brees get distributed to Moore I will be able to pull the upset and hand Taz his first loss.

Orton had a great day and he turned out to be the perfect stand in for my regular QB Favre during the Jets bye week. As much as his performance surprised me, I am starting to really like Slaton. Every week he manages to pull off a solid running performance, solid receiving numbers or a little of both. It is too bad that the Texans defense is unable to make use of their offensive production.

After watching some highlights I learned that it was actually bonehead offense that lost the game for the Texans. That is definitely the worst way to go down.
