Draft is scheduled for the same relative time as last year - Tuesday Sep 3 at 8:30pm eastern. That’s after week 4 of the preseason, since this league runs deeper than others, it’s more important to have all the information you can on the long shots.
Attending the draft is absolutely necessary for this league. It’s an auction format, and because of the 20 man nature of the league, yahoo’s default auction values will not draft a viable team. You have to be able to make the draft.
We’ve got 17 signed back up with 3 missing. I’ll attempt to contact those three now, but if they haven’t signed up in a week, we’ll get replacements. If you’re interested in this league, post about it here.
Rules will start as being the same as last year but the floor is open to suggestions. Leftover auction dollars left to FAAB. Commissioner approval of trading along with clearly stated trade intentions being retroactively fixed on game day, Sunday through Tuesday waiver system… see previous OPs for more info on these.
This isn’t mandatory, but please keep your name either the same as last year or something obvious based on your SDMB name. Every year when people change their names I have no idea who’s who, it’s hard to track in a 20 man league.

Hello all, glad to be playing again this year. I’ve got a buddy who wants to get in on this league if no on-boarders can fill it.he’s s very strong player who I expect would be a good fit. Of course since my other friend took the crown last year, I can appreciate a reluctant welcome ;).

Sorry, I’ve been on the road for a week. The draft has been set in the league for Wednesday Sep 3 at 9pm, but I’ve changed that to 8:30. We’ve typically started around that time. I’m going to leave it at that date for now, but we can change it to that Tuesday if someone needs that. Please post if you can’t make either Tuesday or Wednesday at 8:30 eastern.
18 of 20 players have signed up for last year, which is nice. Missing are Boozahol Squid, PI/Cobra Kai and The Fleas (Wilson). I’ve sent both PMs but if I don’t hear back from them soon, we’ll be recruiting two more players. This league is pretty popular and I don’t anticipate a hard to finding them. I’ll have to go back through the thread to see people who already expressed interest, but if you’re interested, feel free to post.

Alright. The only objection to Wednesday was a soft objection from Darth Sensitive. Because the wednesday date has been set for about a month now, I don’t want to change it in case people have been planning on that, and it sounds like Darth can make it anyway.
So I want to confirm - remember that it is mandatory to attend the draft in this league because the pre-rank values are totally out of whack with a 12 man league, and so you’ll end up drafting no one most likely.
If something happens between now and the draft where you won’t be able to make it, tell us immedaitely and I will try to find a replacement. If it’s too late for that, at least use the pre-rank tools to boost the value on 20-30 players you want. It’s better to overpay and at least get a few players you want than to end up with a roster of $2 players from the autodraft.
I’m going to give Cobra Kai about 24 hours to claim his spot, but then we’re giving it to dale42j, a previous participant in our leagues.
Dale took over Cobra Kai, and that leaves us full. I’ll set the divisions tonight.

Forgot to answer this earlier - yahoo added a feature last year so that you can put a player on waivers 5 minutes before their game starts, rather than Sunday morning. So Thursday players should be covered.
If anyone is interested, we need a last minute replacement for the all-pro draft at 9pm tonight (I think you’d have to be in the league by 8:30). It’s also an auction draft for the first time this year, 12 players. If you’re interested in having an extra league (obviously don’t leave this one to come there), pm me or post in that thread.
I’ll work on it, and it should be enough time, but don’t leave yet. Just in case I can’t find a replacement, it’d be good if you can pre-value your players, keeping in mind the inflated values a 20 man league brings, so that if you do autodraft, you at least end up with some players you wanted, rather than a roster full of $1 leftovers.

Yahoo uses a 12-man projected auction cost for the autodrafters, and as a 20 man league, our players go for a much higher cost. So if you auto-draft in this league, you end up not picking up anyone.
So if you think there’s any chance you might miss the draft at the last minute due to unforseen circumstances, go through the pre-rank tool and give a couple dozen players a high pre-rank value. You might not get the exact team you want, but at least you’ll get some players, something to work with.
Just an FYI for everyone: the new Yahoo draft app is pretty terrible for auction formats. There’s no unique sound when it’s your turn to nominate so it’s very easy to miss, AND nominating someone is a multi-step process (doesn’t just grab the top guy in your queue). Lots of delays.
Draft is tonight in about 12 hours. Attendance is mandatory. If you forsee possibly missing out due to a last second emergency like if your family is on fire or your town gets nuked, pre-rank your players. Since we have 20 people spending $4000 virtual dollars on the same player pool, our values our inflated, and so yahoo will not draft you a viable team, since it uses standard 10 or 12 teamer values for its pre-rank list. Put in a big amount for 20 or 30 players you want. Overpaying for a few studs is much better than your best player being Jericho Cotchery.
