So after getting a substantial loss of Tom Brady after he put up 3 whole fantasy points, I think my team is looking pretty good. I’m especially appreciating Jason Campbell falling in my lap after I worried I might have to go through the season with Chad Pennington.
I have an abundance of RBs. Ronnie Brown and Reggie Bush are looking like studs. My bench of Julius Jones (421 yards from scrimmage, 2 TDs), Jamal Lewis (313/1), and LeRon McClain (332/4) is looking pretty good. And Correll Buckhalter is looking pretty valuable at this point. Good enough that I can afford to trade one or two. My biggest weakness appears to be TE at this stage but there aren’t many TEs that are valuable this year. I’m open to considering trading for WRs or QBs.
Wow, damn, most of a month and this thread hasn’t seen any posts.
Anyway, it’s getting around the time when it’s clear that some teams are probably going to be out of the race. I’d like to ask that everyone keep a good faith effort every week to field a viable team even if you’re not likely to make the playoffs. Which games you win and lose still affects the remaining players, and it would suck if the last playoff spot was decided by one guy facing a real time and the other guy facing a team full of injured players.
Barring something unusual happening tomorrow night, we have our playoffs.
Tazmanian Devils*
Kid A*
Kiros Mark IV
Quentin’s Jammers
Chitwood
Exploding Pancakes
first week bye
My first playoff match features Adrian Peterson against Detroit, who will most likely be able to beat my team by his score alone. And he gets his choice of Rodgers vs Houston or Manning vs Cincy.
Did I mess up my calculations? I did this last night at halftime:
Taz Devils (10-3)
Kid A (8-5) ~1222.60
Kiros Mark IV (8-5) ~1201.56
Quentin Jammers (8-5) ~1131.13
COURT JESTERS (7-6) ~1113.10
Exploding Pancakes (7-6) ~1083.22
EP lost yesterday, so we tied in record, and I’ll beat them in points. chitwood also lost. Remember, the rankings don’t update until after Monday night’s game (that’s why they are showing only 12 games despite it being week 13).
The whole AP against Detroit thing makes me feel less bad about blowing my chance at a bye… to waste that kind of matchup on a bye week would be a tragedy!
I will def. be killing myself trying to decide which QB to go with though. We’ll see how Houston looks tonight I s’pose; Cinci is just generally abysmal though so I am leaning towards Mr. Peyton.
Well, I certainly could be doing worse, considering Vincent Jackson got 23 points and Peterson is facing Detroit. 39 to 44, and I still have more players to play. Of course Peterson could rip a 70 yard TD at any time, but I thought I’d be getting creamed by now. Shame I didn’t just stick with the Philly defense. I figured NYG would be putting up at least 21.
The players doing best so far - Bush and Roddy White - are the guys I have in both leagues. Yay.
I briefly considered starting both Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush because they were both supposed to get substantial playing time, and because Ronnie Brown hasn’t had many carries lately. Thomas just scored a touchdown putting them them at a combined 31 points so far. Damn.
It was a close one but I pulled it off. I really doubted I would after Vincent Jackson of all people put up a 23 point game. Hopefully like 2 years ago, my team gets hot at the right time.
Ah, so close. Well played. It’s hard to be disappointed in AP after he’s carried my running game all year, but… what a let down in the game that mattered.
(Well, that and the fact that I’d be sitting pretty right now if I had been playing either of the other two teams in action today!)
Yeah, sometimes getting a higher seed doesn’t really matter. Since there’s no homefield advantage in FF I was just thinking maybe the advantage of being a higher seed should be selecting which opponent you’d like to face.
I have no idea what to do with the Reggie Bush/Pierre Thomas thing. Last week Reggie scored around 15 and Thomas 27. If I was convinced they’d keep that up, I could just sit Ronnie Brown and play them both. But it’s not likely. So I need to figure out if Bush’s role will be more significant with him having another week of healing. But then again, the Saints are trying to see if Pierre Thomas can become the new McCalister for next year.
Matt Cassel’s dad died this week. I wonder if that’ll leave him distracted and bad, or he’ll pull a Favre. It sounds like his dad was an asshole though so I doubt it’ll be too inspiring.
