SDMB Basketball Tournament Pool

I’m sitting at 12th but I still have all my Elite Eight teams still alive (I had Pitt losing next round to Wisconsin). Tomorrow might be a different story.

Well, I heard about Pitt losing and thought, “Hah, there’s a real surprise. i knew they weren’t very good this year.” Checked my bracket and I had them in the championship game?! Ugh. I really don’t know what I was thinking. There goes an otherwise promising bracket.

Learn from my mistakes. Pick round one, take a break, then do everything else later. That’s what I get for making picks at 2:30a the night before.

Kansas State killed me. Had them going to the championship game. I guess if San Diego State wins it all I might recoup enough points to win.

Even though I had picked Wisconsin over K-State, I was really pullen (hah! get it?) for K-State to win that one. That and the Butler-Pitt game were the most thrilling of Saturday’s games, I think.

Doing a little better today! Anyone have Butler??

Playing with the Scenario Generator gizmo (great fun!) I see that if all the games from here out go to the favorite, Mental Guy will edge Hal 141-140. If all the favorites win except that OSU beats Kansas in the final, I can actually win!

Well, except that little tiny basketball program called Kentucky is going to ruin OSU’s day. I hope.

I had Butler! But I’m not playing with y’all, etc.

Had Texas in the Elite 8 though. Oops.

Tilly and Toby did!

I had Butler in the Sweet 16, and Marquette. Unfortunatley, I also has Kansas State and Notre Dame in the Final 4. Ouch.

My East bracket was almost perfect. 11 of 12 games correct with all remaining teams still live. West, I was 8 of 12, but only 2 live teams remaining. The less said about the Southeast and Southwest, the better.

Holy crap! I’m tied for first. But probably not for long as I had PITT losing the national championship. But to put that in perspective, I’m in 386,777th place (86%) overall on Yahoo. My ESPN bracket is actually slightly nicer looking…I have everyone save Marquette on the left hand side of the bracket, but only 3 teams on the right, but I’m worse off overall, in 1,305,406th place (78%). I got 10/16 of the Round of 32 games in both brackets, which is about what I seem to get every year, except for the flukey 2009 tournament when I managed 14/16!

Fiddlesticks, you are tied with me, but from here on out my money’s on you because I had my alma mater, the Fightin’ Irish of Notre Dame, winning the whole thing and that just isn’t going to happen. :smack:

Pretty ugly bracket, picked only 9 of the sweet 16 correctly. What on Earth was I doing picking Texas?? Missouri? Utah freakin’ State??!!?!? Still, I don’t imagine anyone saw that VCU-FSU matchup coming! OSU pick to win it all still looking reasonably good.

But most importantly, my Ducks are rolling on to the semifinals!!! The semifinals of the CBI, granted, but the semifinals nonetheless! And Northwestern has already acheived its best season in school history by advancing to the third round of the NIT. Yes, it’s a great postseason in the Fish household!

Hey, at least one more day to post as the leader on course. Still have Ohio State and Kansas to get me points going forward…hopefully the upsets all came last night. Hal Briston’s got the biggest possible score at the moment…but pretty still proud to crack the 94%tile this late in the going…

Neat – in the ESPN pool, Henry Hasselbeck is in 103rd place out of 5.9 million players. Henry is the son of Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck.

His five-year-old son.

Officially I can no longer win the bracket now. I still have Ohio State winning but even if every pick goes my way, Thing Fish will beat me. The other 2 scenarios (higher seeds, ranker) have me placing 7th and Hal Briston winning it all.

Congratulations to the final victor.

Suddenly, FGIE is looking wise…scary, I know…

Is little HH beating Tilly & Toby? (the wondermutts).

So much blood. I look at the brackets and red is everywhere.

Still in the top half million on ESPN, but not in the running with my Yahoo bracket thanks to Ohio State and Duke. Dick Vitale is in the bottom 25%tile on ESPN.com if that’s any consolation to the people not in the running here.

I imagine most final 4 pools are essentially over. with Butler and VCU in the Final Four.

Three weeks ago tonight, there was so much bitching about VCU in the tournament from the ESPN talking heads. LOL
