SDMB closing down---what percentage of your internet time did you spend here?

like the title says:
What percentage of the time you spend online is devoted to this site?
And how many hours per day/week?

And how much will you miss this place when it’s gone?

Me, I spend an hour or so here every day, often 2 or more if I can. Computerwise, it’s my main meal of the day…the rest of the internet is just the salad and coffee. Elsewhere on the net, I may check out Fark for some humor, read the news headlines, read the New Yorker magazine on line, read a political blog …but the rest of the web is just for occasional use, like finding a hotel or comparing specs on new cars.
My computer will get a lot less use if, alas, the Dope fades away…
I ask because I fear for the worst-- we are living on borrowed time.
(The threads in the ATMB forum sound sad. They state out loud that the new owners need money, and hint quietlythat they aren’t likely to succeed in raising it.)

I doubt they’d drops us totally - I bet they’d sell us.

To answer your Q - I have a hard time thinking about how much time I spend here, I have SDMB minimized in my task bar all the time, I check all the time throughout the day dropping in and out.

Same here… really depends on how busy I am during the day as to how much time I spend here. Some days it’s a couple of hours and I may post a few times; other days it’s maybe 15 minutes total and I don’t get a chance to post.

But I’d miss the place a lot!

My SDMB usage is like spreading a small amount of butter on a lot of bread.

In other words I flick between this and other sites during spare time at work, and spend about 30-40% of my time here.

Similar to the first couple of responses, there are days when I’m practically camped out in IMHO and MPSIMS but other days when I don’t have the time to stop by at all. Lately I haven’t been spending much time here, but I like to think I’ll pick up the pace again when the semester is over. It’s in my “open these websites whenever my (home) browser starts” list, and I’d definitely miss the place.

I don’t spend as long here as I used to. More so when I was unemployed than now when I’m working. But oh hell, I’d surely miss the place. Hope someone can sort out a compromise to suit as many stakeholders as they can.

I spend probably 30 minutes every 3 days. I used to spend a LOT more time, but then I went into business for myself and have much less spare time.

Compared to all other sites on the Web, I am here 99% of the time.

Sure, I go to other sites but they’re sites I’m working on (if I’m at work) or sites I’ve been sent to via SDMB.

I don’t know why it is…but the SDMB pretty much encompasses the whole of my Internet excursions.

same here. Well, maybe closer to 80%. About 10% of my internet time is on my club related sites (one of which I am in charge) or legitimate searches for necessary information. the last 10% is SHOPPING!

Unless something has changed since the other day, I got the impression that the SDMBs would still be around, possibly owned by another parent firm. The Mods and the SDSAB folk know how much we love it here. I’d like to think they’ll fight for us as best they can.

My first year here was sporadic, the next three I pretty much lived on the board, and the past two have been much like the first, though I’ve been really active the past month or so for some reason.

If the board died tomorrow, I’d miss it but would probably find some other high traffic place to replace it with. It already plays second fiddle to livejournal, anyway.

About 80% of my online hours are spent here. It will be a sad day indeed if the Reader can’t find a way to keep us afloat.

Huh. That little history lesson just made me realize that today’s actually the five year anniversary of my joining. Happy birthday to me.

Less than 5-10% of my online time is here. It used to be significantly more, but now I only check in and do a quick scan of thread titles - I’ll post if something interest me, but I don’t post anywhere near as much as I used to.

I don’t think the SDMB is going anywhere, it sounds like the new owners just want to make more money off of it and grow it.

As of today, Board Reader has us ranked 341st. That isn’t bad.

I spend probably about 80% of my Internet time here.

Before I found the dope, I spent a lot of time, looking through wiki, Browsing things like snopes, the unmuseum, Scientific America, Wired, New Scientist and of course a dozen sports sites.

Jim

I spend about 2 1/2 hours each day on the internet. Two hours or so of that is here. So, 80%

What he said, to the letter.

Ditto.

Depends. At the moment, it’s around 50%, though it dips lower sometimes.

If this place did shut down, I do believe that none of the current spin-off boards are suitable to replace it (and no criticism of them). There would need to be something set up that is just like this right down to the forum types, that is faster, operated by dopers, and that has the support of the spin-off boards.

And I’m pretty sure that would happen, so I’m not too worried.
