For the spiritually inclined…
That 936 map is very busy. Looks like you guys are nowhere near finishing up.
Wanted to apologize to you guys for holding up the adjudication this morning – my orders were late. Dip got lumped in with my list of things to do by 8 AM (write a term paper, study for finals) and I forgot that it actually had to get done by 4. Thanks Nate for the kind reminder.
The alliance structure in 936 has been very, um, fluid.
Or as Abe Babe so succinctly put it, we’re all bastiges
So I see. Our game has been just the opposite for me. Russia and I have had a solid alliance all game.
What, that turn in 1904? We were on a break!
What’s really bizarre about 936 is that they’ve gotten all the way to 1908 without eliminating a single player. (Not only that, but each country finished 1907 in control of 3 or more bases. How the Sam Hill did this happen?!)
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen another game that survived 1905 as a 7-player game, and I’m including games with countries that were down to their last, about-to-be-wiped-out unit.
Ain’t that the fun part?
You’ve got to be a ‘bastige’ to do well in this game. And you’ve got to be a true, loyal ally. It’s the challenge of knowing when to be one or the other (and trying to guess right on when your neighbor is going to switch from one to the other) that makes the game so interesting.
And after you’ve been a bastige to assorted other countries, you can’t complain too loudly when what goes around, comes around and bites you on the ass. (No one would sympathize anyway. :)) In 983, I’ve stabbed on three occasions, and only been stabbed once. I proposed a draw because I wanted to end the game before my karma caught up with me!
If, RT, you are done waxing philosophic…
Spring 1907 in Dip 983 has been adjudicated.
Get that retreat in right away RT!
My army that so recently occupied Venice, has retreated to Apulia, to cause trouble another day.
How many states must a man mow down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, ‘n’ how many seas must a white fleet sail
Before it sleeps in France?
Yes, ‘n’ how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before I can take your land?
The alliances, my friend, are blowin’ in the wind,
The alliances are blowin’ in the wind.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the stab?
Yes, ‘n’ how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, ‘n’ how many eliminations will it take till he knows
That enough people have died?
The outcome, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The outcome is blowin’ in the wind.
How many years can a game exist
Before someone’s out of the game?
Yes, ‘n’ how many years can some people exist
Before they’re sad that the came?
Yes, ‘n’ how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn’t see?
Your ally, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
Your ally is blowin’ in the wind.
with apologies to Bob Dylan
I don’t know about you, Abe…
But I’m rarely sad that I came.
First there’d have to be a white fleet.
You don’t have to tell me. I’m married with two kids now, and don’t really get it as much . . . .
What?
Oh.
Nevermind.
Dateline:Los Angeles!
Don’t forget those orders for Saturday, folks!
Satuday, Boss? But your website, for both Dips, says Tuesday May 28. Which is it?
Yeah! What the German dude said!
Dip due Saturday? I thought it was Tuesday! I’ve let some emails lapse until the weekend!
AGH!
I blame it all on that California thought waves. I’m clearly regressing to my misspent youth in Redondo Beach (Avenue I rules, boy!).
The site is correct. You may cease panicking now.
Resume your normal lives citizens.
The page I’ve been looking at says Saturday.
I’m confused.
OK, the master page and the turn page have different dates.
The master is correct. Tuesday it is, folks.
Ugh. 11 hours to cross a continent.
