I gotta admit, the game looks intriguing as hell. I’ll be watching this one to learn about how it plays… how would a newbie like me know when the next SDMB round is open for players?

Russia convinced Austria to move to support him against Turkey, and went to the trouble of outlining the whole campaign. Austria made every move, while being assured Italy was a friendly power.
So Austria bit completely, and is now about to be overrun by Tukey, Italy and Russia. A masterful deception, Austria had no chance.
I apologize to the other players for my overreaction, and publicly ask the gamemaster’s forgiveness for the email.

Dang, Steeler, nothing hurts worse than getting NO builds the first year. And the only thing that comes close to hurting that bad is seeing the guy who stabbed you achieve the coveted three first-year builds expoit.
But don’t give up. Even though Turkey supported Russia last year, don’t count on that lasting. Turkey is suddenly your new best buddy. And why? Cause Turkey KNOWS that you will do whatever it takes to kick Russia. And you are weak. Weak allies are good since they don’t dare backstab. Weakness can actually be a benefit sometimes. I know it sucks to be forced into the stooge role, but wouldn’t it be better to be Turkey’s stooge than to let Russia roll right over you?
Now…If I were Russia, you know what I’d do? Build a Fleet in Sev, that’s what. With that Fleet Russia can take the Black and start murdering Turkey. See, Russia has to build in the south to take you all the way down, but every southern build is a threat to Turkey. Even if Russia never actually attacks Turkey, Russia will still be grabbing up all the delicious chewy Austrian and balkan supply centers. Turkey is boxed in.
Turkey knows this. Turkey does NOT want to see Austria go down so quickly, not when Turkey gets nothing in return except vague promises of future help.

Ummm…when is the next game going to be organized? According to Nate’s website he’s only mastering 3 games right now…surely adding another wouldn’t be a problem…

Out of curiosity, when’s the next deadline for the Abberation game?
Am I the only one who’s getting withdrawal because it’s been 13 days since the last ‘real’ moves? (Builds don’t really count.)
I’m sitting here, checking http://www.wooleysark.com/dip/983/S02.html every minute or two, so I can see “HTTP/1.1 404 Object Not Found” yet one more time.
And in between, I check the Yahoo! email that I use for Dip, just in case Nate’s emailed the results but hasn’t posted them on the website. Yup, still “No Unread Messages”.
And of course I’m wondering whether Nate hasn’t posted the results because he’s got work to do at work (horrors!), or because he’s just off to a slow start this morning, or whether we’re doing the NMR dance yet again.
I think it’s the uncertainty about that last possibility that has me on edge. If I was sure we really were going to see moves in a few hours, I’d sit back, relax, and get to work. It’s the not knowing that’s a killer.
And, of course, I feel like a damned fool for getting so antsy. :o
