Which would be me. Yes, that was embarrassing - but not as much as my other league, in which I made 2 substitutions from last week’s game (benching Stephen Jackson and Chris Johnson), turning a victory into a 33-point loss. At least in our league here, I would have lost no matter who I started.
I can’t remember for sure how we agreed to do it. Omni with waiver 3 gets Duckett, Spiritus with 6 gets McAlister - now Overly Sentimental with priority 10 picks before me, but his first pick was McAlister. Do I skip his McAlister pick because he’s already gone, and award him Meachem here? Or do we process it as all first claims are processed, then all second claims are processed, etc.?
I’m reasonably sure the latter is how we’ve done it in the past, but I’m not positive and I don’t want to award myself a player without being confident.
All first choices are awarded, then waiver priority is reset, then all second choices are awarded, etc. That’s why we have to list waiver claims in order of preference. Unless I’ve misunderstood the situation, you should get Meachem.
This is not how I do it in the keeper league, which is the system this one is based on.
He is higher priority than you, which means it stands to reason that he should get preference over you.
Conceptually, when a player is awarded, he disappears from everyone else’s wish list and everything is refigured from there. To put it another way, because McAllister is gone, Meachem is his first choice.
I just now noticed that we have a 4 player playoff setup. Did we ever discuss the issue? I had assumed that the default for a 12 man league was 6 players but I hadn’t given it any thought.
Should we debate changing it at this point? I’m not bringing this up because I’m in 4th, but because I was always under the impression we’d have a 6 man playoff.
I really haven’t been paying much attention. Anyone know who is winning the league? Anyone?
As to playoffs, as long as we don’t play week 17, I’m flexible. I don’t think we talked about it, so either is good for me. If forced to vote, I’d go with the 6 team playoffs with byes for the #1 and #2 seeds and 3 weeks of playoffs.
I’ve never been in a Yahoo league that didn’t have the same structure: 4 playoff teams and four teams in the consolation bracket.
I don’t have a strong opinion, and it doesn’t matter at all to my cellar-dwelling team, but if forced to vote I’d go with 4 playoff teams. Having three rounds of playoffs adds an extra element of randomness to the final results, and increases the number of weeks with a lot of owners sitting on the sidelines.
