As one of the players that would currently be affected by a six team versus a four team playoff, I say go with the 4 team playoff. 3 weeks is too long for playoffs, and my craptastic collection of bums should be doing wind sprints in the playoffs, not knocking off someonewho’s played well all season.
If there were any justice, it would be me.
I can’t friggin’ believe that my all-NY squad has scored the most points in this league. #1 baby! Of course, due to shitty matchups I’m currently 5th in head to head record.
So, uh, I’m thinking that if there is any justice in this world, we should have a 6 team playoff. heh.
Again, I’m not paying too much attention. What happened to you last week? Did you win? Against whom?
Although in all honesty, this league is one of my closest leagues, with not a great chasm between the great team or teams and the worst team or teams. I like how competitive it is.
Last week was an unremarkable loss.
I am 5th despite having the highest point total in the league due to multiple weeks of outscoring everybody else by 20, except the team I faced.
Typical example: I would score 109, my opponent would score 112, third highest point scorer that week got 84. This happened multiple weeks in a row. I believe my grousing posts are still on the yahoo forum.
EDIT: Sorry, my mistake. This happened in the All-Pro league, where I am #3 in points but have a pathetic 4-7 record. How the hell do you score the third most points and lose 7 games? WTF?
In this league it would appear I scored the most points overall despite having only Giants and Jets players. How the hell does that happen? Like you, I’m not really paying attention since my rosters have been fixed since the bye weeks.
Ugh. This fantasy season sucks balls for me. In the keeper league, I pinned my hopes on Joseph Addai and Carson Palmer. Ouch. Fully earning every bit of dead last despite 16 roster moves.
In the All-Pro league I went through the murderers row of far outscoring the #3 point total each week, only to be matched up against the #1 total. So 3rd in total points translates into a 4-7 death march to the offseason.
In this league I am #1 in total points and yet currently not even in the playoffs.
Fantasy 2008 must be the cosmic balance sheet for the reality 07, when the football gods truly did smile upon me. (And reality 08 ain’t too shabby either. Subway Superbowl, baby!)
Hey, in last year’s Keeper league I finished 1st in points (by a pretty healthy margin) but finished the regular season 8th! You got nothing on me.
Posting this to let my opinion be known before the games affect my relative position: I’d prefer a 6 man playoffs.
Attack of the Retrovertigo.
He has 139.13 with 3 players left to play - and that’s with a 34.3 point Randy Moss and a 25 point TB defense on the bench.
Well, I was hoping to change to a 6 man playoffs, but without a clear cut support for it then it’d just seem like a self-serving move on my part since I’ve been 4th/5th and on the edge. For the record, I’d support 6 man even if I were in first or last. As close as this league has been, too, I’d feel better if more people got a shot in the playoffs.
I started 7-1 in this league and then after 4 straight losses I’m not even in a playoff spot. It’s not hugely unfair since my points scored isn’t great, but damn, I thought I was doing well. Reggie Bush’s (and to a lesser extent Westbrook’s) injury really put a damper on my season.
Essentially to make the playoffs now I need Ellis Dee to lose both while I win one, or lose 1 while I win 2. I can’t beat a tiebreaker with him being 100 points behind now. We play each other this week though so me winning would be huge. Two losses by Ocho Cincno and two wins by me, unlikely as it is, would work too.
This may be the first I ever missed the playoffs in an SDMB league.
So it turns out last week was the highest scoring week in NFL history. And my fantasy point somehow put up 30ish points despite that. Impressive I think.
So wtf is up with Lendale White? Last week he mysterious got 1 carry, but this week he’s facing Detroit where, if he plays, he’s likely to score at least 1 TD.
"Tue, Nov 25 White and the coach have an “understanding,” regarding White’s playing time coach Jeff Fisher said Monday, the Tennessean reports. "
Oh, that explains everything.
So do I swap him with Reggie Bush who may not even play, who has a bad matchup even if he does? Bah. Not only that, but I have Westbrook (questionable) and I won’t even find out if he’s playing until after White plays. If I sit White, my starting RBs are Westbrook and Bush, both questionable.
Orton or Derek Anderson? I’m actually thinking Anderson might explode this weekend because it’ll be the most harmful thing to the team. Sure, the team looks to have quit and the offense isn’t scoring points - but if Anderson suddenly throws for 350 yards and 3 TDs - not only do we have to suffer through another year of quarterback drama, but a few meaningless wins now might save Crennel’s job and kill off hope for next year too. So I may start Anderson on the basis of expecting the worst possible things for the Browns.
Haven’t there been entire years where Westbrook was listed as questionable virtually every week, yet he played in almost all those games? I know 2 years ago, when I owned him, that usually happened. In fact, he seemed to play better in weeks where he was listed as questionable than in weeks where he did not appear on the injury report.
Yeah, he frequently is like that, but he hasn’t put up a good week in… I can’t even remember the last time, so it’s still a decision.
Um, I hope you listened to me about Westbrook. 4 TDs…
Crennel already announced that Quinn will be his starter next year.
Bit presumptious when Crennel probably won’t even be Quinn’s coach next year, but there you go.
Well, we have 1 playoff spot unresolved, between the evil forces of New York and I.
3 scenarios - I win, he loses; I lose, he loses; I win, he wins results in me getting the spot
Only the 4th scenario, I lose, he wins results in me losing it.
So far it’s looking good. 83 points through the end of the third quarter from 5 of my players. And the Giants aren’t doing so hot offensively.
Well I did something stupid. Started Reggie Bush in my flex spot even though he played Thursday night. Didn’t even consider it at the time. But I should’ve started him at RB so that my flex spot could stay flexible. Problem is LenDale White may be out with injury, and I can’t just start my three pretty good WRs - Roddy White, Antonio Bryant, and Santana Moss - I have to find an RB specifically to replace him. And there’s nothing good available.
Grr.
Oooh, and it’s a late game, so I won’t even know if White will be playing until most of my potential replacement options have already played. Fantastic.
Edit: Scratch that. Mixed up time zones.
There is always Tatum Bell.
Actually, I thought the rosters froze at some time before the playoff began, am I misremembering?
With Orton and Bush having a rough Thursday, I think you’re going to need a monster week from Westbrook to win. It could happen, but I’d be worried about them resting him if they get too far ahead.
I didn’t buy the instant scoring updates for Yahoo! I’m too cheap. What’s the score in the Cooley High - Exploding Pancakes game?
You may be thinking of the keeper league, where I lock the rosters of all non-playoff teams after the last (fantasy) regular season game
