SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 12

I’ve mostly moved on from Rodgers. Moose is the way. And Tannehill is actually a top 10 QB. So I’m pretty solid at backup too. I can afford to get rid of Rodgers.

Odell is a big return. I’m not convinced he’s ever going to be a star again, but I think he’s got decent few years of WR production at least, and a chance to be really good if he gets traded into the right situation, which is obviously worth more than keeping 3 of the top 10 QBs. Obviously I can afford to wait until he’s healed up next year since I’m not going anywhere this year.

It wasn’t that long ago, maybe 4 years, where Odell was considered the top prospect in all of dynasty. But then again, 4 years is a long time in fantasy football.

I’ve had Phillip Rivers on my team since the first draft.

Odell hasn’t been “Odell” since 2016. In the last 4 seasons, he’s barely passed 1000 yards twice and had a maximum of 6 tds a season. He’s a perfectly fine WR2 or WR3, but by his stats, he’s nowhere near a WR #1 anymore. He’ll be almost 29, coming off an ACL tear next year, and (likely) still be on a run first team. Rodgers is the #5 scoring QB in the league and, as you said, is a clear upgrade over the now “let’s throw it short” Ben. He’s also got 4 more years until he turns 40.

I like this move. Which, given my history, probably means Rodgers will tear his ACL this weekend and your opponents will put up their high week from here to the end of the season.

I kept Mason Crosby for 8 or 9 years, but finally dropped him a couple seasons back as Greg Zuerlein was (then) a stud. Another trade to announce:

@Justin_Bailey gives up Myles Gaskin and his 2021 first-round pick

@Really_Not_All_That_Bright gives up Kenyan Drake.

Yes, I’m trading the guy I gave up my #1 player for earlier in the season for a guy I dropped before the draft. #firesale2020

Alright, we’re past the trade deadline for this season so I’ll just change those players up on the rosters manually.

And, as always, to be clear, RNATB gives his last round pick (which he wouldn’t have had, because Miles Gaskin would’ve taken it up as a keeper) to JB. Just a book keeping measure.

Don’t we usually move the trade deadline to the end of Week 13?

I usually do, yeah. Yahoo resets it every year even though I import last year’s settings. I forgot this year. But this league really doesn’t have a trade deadline, we can do trades whenever. Given the dynasty format there’s no reason to ever stop trading. So while I forgot to move the trade deadline this year, we’ve always been able to just agree to trades in the thread and then I’ll do the roster management to make it happen.

Remember, we voted to grant 4 extra IR slots this year for covid-related IR. You can only use 2 of the IR slots for regular non-covid related IR. The extra 4 are for COVID related causes only. Dale and Omni both have 3 regular non-covid players on IR. I’m afraid the rules, as we set them, do not allow that and you’ll have to carry one of those players on your regular roster.

We can definitely talk about expanding the number of regular IR slots, and I’m okay with that. I don’t think it gives anyone a big advantage. You still have to make enough cuts to get draft picks the next year, and if you get a bunch of players on your roster hurt it’s good to give you some relief.

The only way I could see this being exploited is if people pick up IR players specifically to stash them on their IR slots so they can evaluate them next year in training camp and preseason and decide who to cut before the draft. So I would propose the rule that we change to permanent 4 IR slots, but that you can only place players who were on your roster when they were injured into those IR slots, you can’t just pick up injured free agents to stash them in your IR slots.

Fixed.

Are we going to do potential substitutions should Ravens/Steelers not get played?

Edit: Yahoo is right now showing it as no game. Last I saw on Twitter was game moved to Tuesday

They fixed it. The game is now showing for Tuesday.

But if the game is canceled, I’d like to swap in Josh Reynolds for Chase Claypool.

I guess I’ll swap in Jerry Jeudy for Diontae Johnson if the game is cancelled. If Jeudy is inactive, then TE Noah Fant

Conner tested positive for Covid, I temporarily threw him on IR. I won’t make any pickups until he’s listed as IR-Covid

Oh that’s fine, if hte reason he’s on IR is covid, you can go ahead and stick him in the IR slots even if it’s not officially tagged yet. We just can’t use more than 2 IR slots on non-covid related IR.

Emphatically disagree with this statement. The NFL has a trade deadline for a good reason, and that reason applies to FFL Dynasty formats.

Scratch my previous post. I will definitely not be starting either Jeudy or Fant, even if I was paid to do so, since their team has actually 0 QBs. So it is Diontae Johnson in my starting spot, and if the Steelers game is canceled, I will start… Corey Davis! Here’s your shot, do not miss your chance to blow

I actually agree, but I think the only time trading should be disallowed is during the playoffs.

I favor allowing trading up until 1 PM eastern time of the championship playoff game. In other words, no restrictions

Another possible cancellation for me. I’ll put both here to make it easy…

IF BAL-PIT CANCELED
REPLACE Chase Claypool WITH Josh Reynolds

IF DEN-NO CANCELED
REPLACE New Orleans Defense WITH Miami Defense

If there is no Steelers/RAvens game, I’d be starting Mike Williams over JuJu.
