SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 12

Are you using desktop or mobile? My experience on desktop is that there’s a bar on the right which shows which post you’re on. There’s a date underneath the bar. As you scroll up, the date changes when you scroll to a post from the previous day. You can also hover over the top right of any post where it says how long ago the post was made. Hovering over will reveal a specific date and time.

Desktop.

For this thread in particular, the times I want to scroll back and look are usually when I’m composing a post. I can minimize the reply window (which is nice) to get it back but this particular gripe is that I don’t love how the infinite scrollbar doesn’t follow standard scrollbar behavior.

A 1000 line post and a 1 line post both occupy the same amount of scrollbar real estate on the infinite scroll. (As you scroll down through the 1000-line post, the infinite scrollbar simply doesn’t move.) That makes me feel unmoored, like there’s no relationship between the scrollbar and what it’s scrolling. Especially combined with the fact that the browser’s real scrollbar is working properly but is misaligned because the page is only loaded in pieces at a time.

Also the size of the selector in a scrollbar is supposed to represent what percentage of the entire area is viewable in the window. (The page size.) As far as I can tell, the infinite scrollbar has no page element. So not only were pages removed from the forum, he didn’t even include standard scrollbar paging in his infinite scroll. If you try to click pageup and pagedown above and below the infinite scrollbar selector, instead of paging, you get jumped to where you clicked. That guy really hates the concept of pages.

I can only pray he never goes into publishing lest all books, magazines and newspapers get converted into neverending scrolls you have to roll up as you read.

1.07 CeeDee Lamb WR Dal

@dale is on the clock.

@SenorBeef I was super excited when I first heard they were getting back together for a number of shows. I prefer their more experimental stuff over the death-metal, but I can still appreciate for what it is.

I’m happy with the Lamb pick, I think there is a drop-off after the 1.07 pick so I would have been happy to get any of the 1st seven picks.

I think CEH lucked out going to the perfect spot for him, and if Taylor can become a serviceable receiver he will tear it up behind Indy O-line.

Henry Ruggs III WR and Las Vegas Raiders still sounds weird.

@Petey is up

Hope that works

1.09: Justin Jefferson, WR, Min

I guess it’s @dalej42 again

Jefferson was a monster against SEC defenses last year. One of those he’d be a top pick if he went to a good offensive team, but I like this pick a lot.

Tee Higgins , WR, CIN

@Really_Not_All_That_Bright

I understand your complaints Ellis, and I’m annoyed by some of the quirks of the new software too, but at least you can definitely confirm when a post was made even if it’s counterintuitive.

Good progress made today guys up until the current pick. Hopefully RNATB will get a pick in by morning and we’ll keep going quickly.

Going to try to get the rest of the draft in progress entered tonight. Sorry, been unusually busy lately.

I’m going through now to create the complete draft list, which involves rereading all the posts for cuts (determining number of picks) and trades. While rereading I ran across this, which I now have an actual opinion on:

Even though the board software scolds you for multiple posts in a row, I have developed a strong preference for one quote per post, posting multiple times if necessary. That makes the “replies dropdown” function in a far superior way, IMO. When a reply quotes, say, 4 different posts, and you expand the replies for the first one, the shown replies can quickly get confusing and even out of chronological order.

All that to say I love the “show replies” feature to death when they’re all single quote replies, and hate it with a passion when it expands to show multi-quote replies. So I am trying to get in the habit of single quote replies.

You don’t have to create a new draft list unless you want to, I’m working on entering the results into yahoo now.

I kind of like it. Helps me get a handle on things.

Okay, so thanks to Jules’ helpful explanation in the OP I’m pretty sure I have all the trades and picks squared away. By my count, everyone ends the draft with exactly 25 guys on their roster.

For example, dale shows 25 on last year’s ending roster, cut 7 to make room for 7 picks, got 2 players back from Jules in a trade, and is left with 5 picks in the below list to end the draft at 25. I double-checked everyone; dale’s was just the most involved.

All that said, corrections welcome.

EDIT: Wait, I think I messed up, editing it out before the edit window closes.

Oh good news. I was dreading that since I had to reset the draft, I would have to start off again from zero. But it actually reverted to the last saved state of the draft, which saved me 90% of the time. I just had to enter corrections and what happened since.

Draft results should be current and show the correct picks.

Except that there’s a quirk in the Dale/Jules trade for 1.02 and 4.08 for players that’s leaving Jules with 27 picks and Dale with 23. I gave the two picks to Jules, and then kept those 2 players in Dale’s last 2 draft slots, but I obviously am missing something conceptually and it’s too late for me to figure out. Or I may have screwed something up by doing it in the wrong order, because I moved the traded players to dale before I gave dale’s draft picks over. I’ll figure it out tomorrow, or Jules can do it if he’s around before me. Other than Dale’s and Jules’ later picks, everything should be accurate.

Please check your own team and picks to make sure everything looks right.

Nope, I had it right. And yeah, I feel you about getting a handle on how the trades work. The way you describe doing it sounds correct. Anyway, maybe this list will help.

If it helps, here’s my reference table:

Order Player Kept Picks
1 Omni 21 4
2 Overly 22 3
3 Beef 21 4
4 Ellis 22 3
5 Jules 22 3
6 Gaffer 22 3
7 Retro 23 2
8 dale 18 7
9 Petey 22 3
10 Justin 23 2
11 RNATB 22 3
12 Hamlet 23 2

I think your order is correct. I made 2 small adjustments where I screwed up by giving people picks in the wrong round after trades because I kept players after moving the draft picks, which in 2 cases kept players with the wrong pick. I went from the bottom up (lowest round) when placing the keeper rather than placing them in the correct post-trade spot.

I need to set the draft as it exists at the beginning of the draft to give us the correct baseline, and then process trades after the start from there. That was what lead to my screwup with dale and jules - I knew conner and cooks were being traded, and I think I didn’t add them to Jules player pool since I knew that, but I should’ve established the pre-draft order first before doing any changes to make it come out correctly. My draft list agrees with yours now except for Dale and Jules where I need to give Dale 2 extra picks and take away 2 of Jules. I’ll sort it out tomorrow. Thanks for the help for calculating the rest of the draft order.

Edit: Oh, incidentally, the worst part of the infinite scroll is that you can no longer use the normal browser search (control F) to find stuff within a page. It hijacks it and makes into a thread search, which is not as useful when you just want to find a post quickly where you know what you’re searching for.

Okay, I figured out how to fix the Dale/Jules thing so everyone has the right picks. I gave Jules’ 4.05 and 5.05 picks to Dale to keep Brandon Cooks and James Conner.

If I’m understanding this conceptually. Jules had 3 picks at the start of the draft. 1.05, 2.05, 3.05.

Wwhen Jules traded 2 players to Dale for 2 picks, Jules got 2 empty roster spots, which look like extra draft picks, because slots without kept players become draft picks. So after Conner and Cooks left Jules’ roster, he gained two empty slots, which appear to be extra picks but are not, they’re just a quirk of recordkeeping. These would be 4.05 and 5.05.

Or to put it another way, 4.05 and 5.05 are still being used to keep Cooks and Conner, it’s just that now they’re moved over to Dale so they’re keeping those players on his roster.

Jules started the draft with 3 picks, but gained 2 from Dale in exchange for 2 players. So Jules has 5 draft picks: 1.02, 1.05, 2.05, 3.05, 4.08 with 1.02 and 4.08 being extra picks from Dale. Dale started the draft with 7 draft picks, but traded for 2 players, giving him 5 draft picks that he kept: 1.08, 1.10, 2.08, 3.02, 3.08

I think I understand conceptually where I screwed up and fixed it, but please feel free to double check what I did. Everything should be correct now.

I was hoping for Jefferson to fall. But he didn’t, and I’m desperately thin at RB so I don’t think I really have a choice here.

Zack Moss, RB, Buf.

@Hamlet

Gotta go with “my guy” Brandon Aiyuk. I love his game.
