SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 13

Well this was definitely a productive evening for the draft.

I was thinking about trading up a bit for Rhamondre so I’m glad I got him here. Playing the NE RB game can be tricky and heartbreaking but for a third round pick I’m willing to ride this merry go round. I really needed a RB and he’s the guy with the remaining highest upside (aside from handcuffs).

Seems like he’s pretty quick with good feet for a big guy. NE also often runs a big old TD vulture type player and with Cam not getting those goal line TD runs it probably goes to Stevenson. And maybe more. He seems like more than just a limited role big guy, he seems like he’s got some overall skills.

Stephenson was the guy I was debating taking at 2.09. Decided that Toney has way higher upside, but yeah, if you need RBs (like pretty much everyone) he’s a pretty decent lottery ticket.

Straw poll, asking for a friend:
Is Deshaun Watson going to play football this year? For whom? How much?

This is part of the writeup I have for your team ranking, but my guess is no. Not only that, I am not sure he plays next season, either. My understanding is that by sitting out this year, he can avoid the Commissioner’s list, but next season he may end up on it after all.

So you’re thinking he actually misses two seasons?
Sounds like a soft setup for a buy-low…

Admittedly, I don’t know exactly how that Commissioner’s list works, but he hasn’t been put on it yet because he’s sitting out. The NFL is kinda punting on a decision about him since he’s not playing right now, anyway.

Watson says he won’t play for Houston, and they can’t really trade him with everything going on. Once he decides to start playing, he’s going to be put on that list since there’s no way all those accusations are resolved within a year. If he decides to go back on his promise never to play for Houston again, then he’s going on that list this year. If he doesn’t change his mind, and sits out the entire year, he’s going on that list next year. I don’t know how long he’ll be on it, but it will happen. Based on the number of accusations, and on his insistence he is not playing this season, it adds up to two seasons off, to me. Complete guess, though

So this isn’t particularly bad management on my part, right? This feels more like unadulterated bad luck.
It’s just so hard to keep your finger on every pulse…especially when we’re talking about what sounds like it boils down to handjobs in a massage parlor. (Though I think I remember Bob Kraft being exonerated for that very thing…privileges of management I guess).
Pretty soon we’re going to need an IR-type slot for guys stuck in sex-crime limbo.

There’s nothing you could have done to see this coming. Maybe, best possible case, when the word started to come down about how upset Watson was with Houston’s management you could have moved him immediately. But those types of things are almost always resolved without the star QB sitting out, so you can’t reasonably be blamed for standing pat.

It was more than handjobs at a massage parlor. He exposed himself to masseuses at his house that weren’t there to provide Robert Kraft services. It looks very bad for him that he would choose many many different woman for massages. If he was looking for legitimate therapeutic massages, I would assume he would be using the same handful of people.

Even if he is not charged, the NFL conducts its own investigation. Jules’s two year assessment is probably accurate.

looking at you,
@PeteyPart2

I actually feel like I had a pretty good draft!
I got a RB with actual playing time (Sermon)
A starting WR (albeit with Jared Goff) that fell through the cracks (Williams)
and the steal of the draft, who, who? MAC JONES

Tyrel Williams is a nice short term pickup. He’s not going to be useful multiple years but will be a strong bye week fill in this year at least.

Hey, it’s all about Mac Jones. He’s the second coming of Tom Brady. He’s going to be throwing 5000 yards a season for the next 15 years. I confidently predict no less than 600 career touchdowns. I’ll be rubbing it in yall’s face when we’re all old(er) and gray(er), that you let the Immortal Mac Jones fall to me in the second round, so that you could take the likes of Zack Wilson and Trevor Lawrence. I mean, he’s so good, he’s going to lead the team in receiving touchdowns most years as well, for balls he throws to himself. Because most defenders will just start getting out of his way rather than face the wrath.
Guy is going to embarrass so many fools, end so many careers, that when they induct him into the hall of fame, five years from now, people will be afraid to show up for fear of being clowned on from the podium. Then he’s going to join up with his friends The Avengers, and keep the world safe from evil.

I’m sorry, but all that for Mac Jones? Mac. Jones. Mac “Dad Bod” Jones? If you like the next Derek Carr so much, I’m sure he’s available for trade.

Uhhm…
