We’re coming up on 12 hours since @Overly_Sentimental has been on the clock. Beef (wisely) addressed this situation up stream, and I think it is only fair to give someone whose time expires between, say, 2am and 8am ET at least until 8am ET. So I won’t skip until 8am ET.
I also think we should adjust the timer to 4 to 6 hours (after you have taken up 12 hours and been skipped once) before someone can skip again. Otherwise it can become chaos where everyone jumps on at once and rapid fire picks while someone is asleep or working, and a team skipped once ends up being skipped half a dozen times. But giving a full 12 hours could destroy the timing of the draft, too, if someone is away for a couple days unexpectedly. (Or is kidnapped by a Zimbabwean cartel - RIP Varlos)
Since we’re kinda going at this on the fly, hopefully Beef can weigh for now on these suggestions, and we can implement actual rules for next season.
That sounds reasonable. I hate to skip everyone, but I don’t want the draft to get halted on a pick for 24+ hours like last year. I sent him an e-mail and PM. Let’s give him 8 hours from now (about 11am eastern) before Jules will be up.
The 6 hour minimum for the next pick after that sounds reasonable. Hopefully Overly will be here to take his pick in the next 8 hours, but if not, Jules can take 2.08 and Overly can step back in and make any pick he wants, except for whoever Jules drafted. If Overly still isn’t here 6 hours after that (5pm eastern) then 2.09 can go, and so on.
This looks to be about the time in the draft where there are good options that are mostly dart throws and true upside is limited. Since my roster is set and I can afford to wait on a lottery ticket, I may as well go for one here, knowing it will most likely not work out and tank my draft grade. This is a pure luxury pick. Maybe I should rename myself Next Year’s Warriors after also taking Etienne earlier.
FYI, I don’t pick again until 3.06 but I am going offline until Saturday around mid-morning (Pacific)/early afternoon (Eastern), just verifying that I’m not ghosting y’all and haven’t been kidnapped…
Perfectly on schedule would mean you’d make pick 3.06 as the last pick on Saturday night, so no worries.
If you go on the clock before you get back Saturday morning, we would be way ahead of schedule.
EDIT: If we do finish the whole draft by Tuesday, we may want to consider dale’s idea of waiting until cutdown Tuesday to start our draft. Again assuming the NFL uses the same schedule next season.
Ingram has - at best - one productive year left, and all indications are that he will be the second or third back after Phil Lindsay in a terrible offense. Gaskin seems to have fallen out of favor in Miami and I don’t think Miami is going to be very good anyway.
The Rams D is obviously excellent but they have a tough schedule. The NFC West is pretty good offensively for one thing, and I don’t have any other defenses. The Colts are loaded with young defensive stars and will be good on defense for 3-4 years at least.
