I’ve scored the most points in my division, yet I’m in last place in said division. I hate fantasy football sometimes.
Jules strikes again!
I’m convinced Jules is that guy who buys a big sprawling MMO and spends all his time screwing around in the character creator.
That is totally me, at least in terms of MMOs.
EDIT: And also Madden, with a bajillion trades to get exactly the team I want. (Mostly promising rookies in subsequent franchise seasons.)
Just because it ended up basically being a 3-team trade here is how it broke down.
HungryHungryHaruspex receives:
QB DeShaun Watson
WR Antonio Brown
QB Derek Carr
TE Cole Kmet
WR Jaylen Waddle
Peteys receives:
QB Mac Jones
RB Ronald Jones
TE George Kittle
Overly Sentimental receives:
QB Aaron Rodgers
RB Cam Akers
TE Pat Freiermuth
WR Bryan Edwards
I have Derrick Henry’s backup, J. McNichols, available.
I’ll take a draft pick.
If you had told me I’d lose players to a mental health break and a DUI causing death in addition to all the injuries, I’d figure I’d be in last place.
4 teams on bye this week makes it a very challenging fantasy week for everyone
That’s not entirely wrong. I don’t think I ever actually played the Sims, either. I just built houses.
This trade was a bit more of a necessity than I care for. I really needed a backup QB since Mac Jones has the same bye week as Jalen Hurts. Normally, not a big deal, but there are (were) no QBs available on the wire, and that bye week happens to be the last week of the season this year. That’s a critical game to potentially go without a QB.
I think I got decent value for Kittle. What I have seen of Waddle once I learned he became available was really intriguing. I was concerned that he was a one-dimensional deep threat decoy, a la Henry Ruggs (more on that in a bit), and my grading algorithm discounted him accordingly. However, so far in the NFL he has been forced to win the short game with surprisingly good route running chops because of his team’s limitations at QB. If he has that in his toolbox, in addition to the plus speed, he could develop into something really special.
The Ruggs development makes Bryan Edwards look a lot more valuable. Deshaun Watson is not being traded (I never thought he would be), and Cam Akers is already running. Hm. Maybe the histrionics was an overreaction?
Do guys miss time these days for DUI fatalities, driving a Corvette in Vegas at 3am?
(I’m not trying to be glib, much, I really don’t have a great handle, nor does the League generally, on what results from this kind of thing. Seems cut and dry to me but I’m sure he’ll have the due process to which we are all entitled.)
My first reaction was to drop him immediately thinking he will never play a down in the NFL again. I still may very well do that.
My WAG is he goes on the exempt list until the trial or plea bargain is reached and that won’t be anytime soon. I can’t imagine a deal without some prison time. Even if he comes back like Vick did, I can’t imagine hanging onto a guy who so far has been a bye week replacement level player. I don’t even have an IR spot for Ridley until Russell Wilson comes back.
I would imagine Ruggs never plays in the NFL again. You’ll probably see him in the CFL in 5-7 years. Go RoughRiders!
I think it’s pretty telling we’ve developed the same letterism to mean “Wives and Girlfriends” as “Wild Ass Guess”. No need to expound here, says the bitterly divorced man.
My guess is that it uses the probability of a negative score for any position and applies it to every position.
A D/ST often puts up negative points compared to every other position.
Adrian Peterson, a 36 year old RB who hasn’t had more than 20 carries in a game for over a year and whom every team in the NFL thought: “nope, he’s not worth a roster spot” went for $72 FAAB. I love this league.
I thought about it, but I KNEW he’d go for an obscene amount of FAAB money, so I didn’t even put a claim in.
Little sad Beef skunked me for Devonta Freeman though. Knew I should have grabbed him as a free agent last week.
Ruggs driving 156 mph before crashing…yeah he’s never playing anything ever again. Sorry RoughRiders…
Yeah, I dropped him immediately after hearing that. With these extra IR slots, no team has to do a lot of roster drops this season, but this is an easy choice. He’s not even worth the Josh Gordon lottery ticket of a roster spot.
Trade to announce:
Ellis receives:
Samaje Perine, RB, Cin
Justin receives:
Jamison Crowder, WR, NYJ
EDIT: Wait, why am I announcing this? Shoulda just done this on yahoo directly…
It turned out to be just the right price because he only won him by $2. It’s probably a little much but AP will almost certainly be the most valuable available player for the rest of the year so it’s justifiable.
How about this. You put up Rashod Bateman. I’ll put up Tyler Boyd. If, at the end of the year, Adrian Peterson is the top scoring player currently available, winner takes both players.
How are your investments doing with all the FAAB you have saved over the years? Gettin some good returns there, buddy?
