SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year 15

Achane has to stop ripping off 70 yard runs every week at some point but I guess this is not that week. He’s averaging 12 ypc for the year which I realize is unsustainable but the dude is electric. Who would’ve guessed that after Chubb and Dobbins went down, my RBs #4 and #5 RBs (Montgomery and Achane) would carry me anyway?

Unfortunately none of my WRs who had the chance to step up have done so, so I’ve got a medium strength roster capable of the occasional big game.

Kyle Pitts actually managed to have a double digit game, but I may start Logan Thomas going forward.

Solid week for me - all my division competitors are predicted to lose.

Just checked the league standings, and while I was happy to see that I was 4th in Points For coming into this week, what the fuck is going on with Jules?! 652 versus Hamlet’s second place 513? Good Lord.

Meanwhile, another single digit QB performance for me, but it didn’t seem to hurt me this week. I think I’m going to switch to Mayfield starting next week.

And yet this week he goes down to my trainwreck of a squad.

All but 2 of the teams in the league are 2-3 or 3-2.

The Achane injury, which fortunately isn’t the whole season, was a dagger to my team. I’m down to 2/5 of my RBs. And I started the season 0-2 for my division record. Today’s division game vs Petey is pretty vital and it’s around 50/50 right now but it doesn’t feel like my chances are that good.

I finally benched Kyle Pitts and he scores a TD.

The whole sunbelt division is 3-2 but I’ve got a massive disadvantage starting 0-2 in the division. It seems unlikely I make the playoffs again this year. The wildcard might be really competitive.

I lost David Montgomery for a few weeks, which means I’m down 4/5 of my RBs. I’m going to have to start Latavius Murray and hope he vultures a TD because I have nothing else.

6 teams on bye this week makes this one of the most challenging fantasy weeks. I may have to start two tight ends. I did make certain I had a D/ST at least.

Why do we still allow 6 IR spots in this league?

It got brought up, but I think discussion didn’t really take so it just kind of fizzled and we stuck with what we’ve been doing by default.

This looks like the discussion.

Jules suggested that the intent was to revert it before last year’s start but it got overlooked. And once again we’re still at 6 this year. We need to make sure this gets cleaned up next offseason.

There was a debate about an unofficial cap at 3, but I think that wasn’t solidified with the assumption we’d make it formal this year.

I looked at last year’s thread. It looks like we were still debating it when the draft was entered, and you can’t take away any roster slots after the draft is finalized, so we couldn’t reduce it that year and the topic ended up fading away. My bad for not remembering that and raising the issue again pre-draft this year.

Let’s go ahead and have an official vote now.

The options are:

Keep IR slots at 6
Reduce to 3
Reduce to 2

For the purposes of this vote, 3 and 2 will both be counted as a “yes” to reducing the IR slots. If their combined value beats the votes to keep it at 6, we’ll reduce the number of IR slots - to either 3 or 2, whichever got more votes. This is to is to allow people to express their preference as to which number we change to without worrying about splitting the lower the IR slots vote resulting in no change. This is just an easier way of doing it than having two separate votes (should we lower it, and to what number).

So for example, if stay at 6 gets 4 votes, reduce to 3 gets 3 votes, and reduce to 2 gets 2 votes, the combined vote for lowering is 3+2=5 which beats the 4 votes against lowering it. Since 3 slots has more votes than 2 slots, we’d change to 3 slots next year. If any of that is confusing, don’t worry, it makes sense, just post your preference between 6, 3, and 2 IR slots.

Reduce from 6. I do not currently have a preference between 2 and 3, so if anybody feels strongly about either, make your pitch. (A sufficiently impassioned plea to keep 6 could also sway me.)

Down to 3 is my vote

2 spots.

2 spots

3 slots

Reduce to 3

Reduce to 3

I dislike how yahoo allows players who are only out for a week to occupy IR slots. The NFL also having in-season IR boosts the value of these slots. They used to just be relief for when you lost the player for a season, but they’re way more versatile and powerful now. I’m going to vote for going back to 2.

In other news, I am likely to receive the worst beat down I’ve ever received in this league this week. Everyone on my team is hurt and Jules is a steamroller.

I’m going to change this to voting for 3. Mainly I’m thinking about how Rodgers is using up one of my IR slots for the entire fantasy season, beginning to end. If we only had two slots that would effectively leave me with just one, which feels a little limited compared to the six (effectively five) we’ve had for so long.

How am I 4-3 and in 6th place? My team is mostly awful and I’ve been completely wrecked by injuries.

And I’d be 5-2 and in the playoff hunt if I had started New Orleans over Miami in Week 5.

Sometimes I just do not understand fantasy.
