I thought I may have overbid a bit for Sean Tucker but it ended up being pretty savvy - I got him for $51 but Hamlet had bid $46, and a few others bid around $29. Jules may have bid higher but he’s low on FAAB.
It may be an overpay. I do suspect he’ll probably fade into TB committee obscurity and be frustrating where he’ll have a big game here and there but not consistent enough to be startable. But the chance to snag a potential breakout RB on the waiver wire almost never comes along and I figured I’d try to capitalize on it. If it fails (probably), oh well, FAAB doesn’t work out that often. If it hits it’s huge.
And I’m glad to have Cooper as a usable asset again, I’d basically decided to bench him whenever possible unless Cleveland got their QB situation fixed.
Easy: Bo Nix isn’t very good yet. Sutton’s primary skill is beating smaller, weaker corners for contested balls - like a slower but stronger version of DeAndre Hopkins. Throwing up fades is by far Nix’s worst passing skill.
I was in rebuilding mode, and then I randomly beat Beef. If Herbert finally has a decent game I might beat Hamlet and completely ruin my chance of the #1 pick. Omni’s all-rookie team isn’t scoring any points so I don’t see myself “catching” him anyway.
Have you guys heard the good news about rookie WR superstar Brian Thomas Jr? #6 scoring on the year so far. 500 yards in his first 7 games has to be up there with the all time great rookie seasons. When I watched the Browns play the Giants, the way they forced Nabers the ball and how well he did with it, I thought for sure he was going to be the rookie WR superstar of the season, and he may end up being, but so far it’s Brian Thomas Jr.
Jayden Reed is actually one spot above him at #5. He’s good but unpredictable - trying to figure out who’s going to be the good GB WR of the week is tough.
Nick Chubb is back. I almost don’t want him to be because he’s too good for the Browns (although I feel a lot better on this without Watson) but it’ll be bonkers if he’s even 80% of what he was when he got injured. That knee injury was nasty.
Kyle Pitts still exists. He’s actually not so bad that he’s a complete bust (#6 TE is actually fine) but he’s still such a massive disappointment. I passed on Chase for him.
Beautiful Brandon Aubrey is actually the #2 kicker by scoring average. #1 is Austin Seibert, who I picked up as a bye week fill-in. I’ve decided that kicking is not random noise and that I am the kicker whisperer.
DeAndre Hopkins gets traded to KC and I couldn’t be happier. I had a feeling Amari Cooper might be traded going into this season as the Browns continue to be a dumpster fire.
I’m definitely liking this new improvement to my WRs
Puka Nacua was a surprise return for me. Right before kickoff yahoo was warning me off him because of a potential snap count limit but my receiving corps is depleted. Pressed into service he delivered 14.60 from 7 catches for 106 yards plus 5 more on the ground. Go Puka! Now I just need Nico Collins back.
Not me, no. I don’t really play multiplayer games anymore, so it’ll likely never be me if it comes up again. (Currently totally engrossed in Stranded: Alien Dawn.)
Except for Ellis and I, all the games are still up for grabs which is pretty rare halfway through the Sunday night game. Rooting for Omni to get his first win of the season*
I had a good week, probably going to be the top scorer, so I retain the scoring lead and move to 7-1.
Oof this week was rough. Jets find a way to lose and I get let down by Jordan Love and DJ Moore. Though even if both had posted some of their better games I still would have lost by 10 points. But at least that would have been more respectable than losing by 40.
I’m not sure I’ve ever had so much RB depth that I’m leaving decent starters on the bench every week. Rhamondre put up 20 points on my bench again, but I don’t think I can start him over Achane, Montgomery, or Dobbins. Maybe Dobbins, but it’ll probably end up being a week to week matchup thing. That also leaves Nick Chubb on my bench but I’m not going to be starting him until he proves he’s healthy enough.
I don’t really have any recognized star players on my team except for Allen but I may have more pretty good players on my roster than ever had. I doubt I’m going to set the scoring record on this team but I could make a run for it.
Edit: Probably not. I looked it up and through 9 weeks in 2022 Jules was over 1300 points I’ll be around 1200.
Yeah RB is definitely my strength. I thought I had good receivers but they keep letting me down. Same deal with TEs, only moreso.
Yesterday my three RBs – Saquon, Mixon and Kenneth Walker – combined for 60 points, which is good, but then the three receivers I started – Puca, Pittman and DJ Moore – combined for just under 9 points. Nine! That’s not great.
Unsurprisingly, Peteys trounced me yesterday. The only players either of us have remaining are my two Chiefs: Kelce and Butker. I would need them to combine for 56 points to miracle a win for me.
Not to mention that I passed on two different options at QB (one of whom was Jayden Daniels) in favor of Jordan Love because the other two guys scared me away with injury concerns. But now Love has become Mr. Injury himself. I blame myself. Whoever I took was going to regress. Washington fans should be happy I didn’t take Daniels.
