You didn’t lose anything except in your own alternate reality. Yes, if the systems worked the way you want it to, you’d gain the exploit that Ellis described above. But it doesn’t work that way under our rules.
You could also argue that you “lost” 11 picks worth of value in the second round this year because we don’t do a snake draft. While simultaneously arguing for a snake draft.
At a certain point Fantasy Commissioners probably need to be autocrats. Feels like this topic is getting to that point.
Fuck this. I’m not gonna rehash all the shit from last year, and I’m with Beef that all this crap just makes this less fun. So, forget I said anything, do whatever, and let me know when I pick next.
You know, being a league commissioner is a lot of uncompensated work. Maybe when they oppose some change because it’s a headache, we should just accept that. They are the ones doing the work.
We’re not playing for prize money here. Let’s have some perspective.
Alright – let’s get back on track with our normal peace love and harmony. Just a reminder that the balanced trade issue only refers to future draft picks. You could swap players for picks right now in the draft without getting any draft pick back, but if you wanted to, say, give up a 2nd rounder next year to move up a few slots in the first round, that would require an “and his last pick” trade.
Also, if we need an enemy, I nominate Jules. As I was putting his team into the draft I was disgusted by how good it is. Here are some good rankings. I have only 3 of the top 50 guys and I think he has… all the rest.
Omni, Maybe don’t don’t say I’m delusional and trying to exploit the system, then pretend to take the high ground and then tell us to have “perspective”.
I’m confident no one in this league is trying to exploit the system. We’ve had to enact bylaws for clarity and logistical reasons but never to keep anyone from taking advantage of the rules or doing anything sketchy.
I respect this, and in fairness, I’m starting to doubt the following:
In the spirit of fuck this, let’s not rehash, there are two possibilities: Best case you (and we all) thought you got screwed but we were just confused. Worst case, you did get screwed but then enjoyed the last laugh by winning the championship anyway.
I do apologize for any bad information I may have contributed along the way. Either I helped you get screwed or just added to the confusion. So I’m sorry for that.
(You traded 2 players for Mundi’s 1.01. If you did that before the draft, it would have been 1 future pick for 0 future picks so you would have had to give your last pick to Mundi to even things out. But since we told you it didn’t matter and just wait until after cuts, it was now 2 slots for 1 slot so to keep things balanced Mundi had to send his last pick to you. So yeah, I’m pretty sure you did get screwed, but then you went and won it all anyway. Also, it’s not an inherent issue with forcing trades to be balanced. If you’d done it before the draft, according to our longstanding rules, it would’ve been fine and you wouldn’t have gotten screwed.)
This is not the issue. Even during the draft trades need to be numerically balanced (players and picks) to ensure we all leave the draft with 25 players.
The only reason I am still lovable is because I never win. We could do a startup draft, give me the first 10 picks, and I would still lose. But this is the lowest dynasty ranking I have had in a long time because I have so many older stud players. The cliff is coming
The top QBs are ranked unusually highly this year and are past where they’re supposed to go even in 1QB leagues but it’s hard to draft one behind Josh Allen. I’d basically be making a first round draft pick hoping they bloom and become really good trade bait next year which seems like a risky enough plan. But it’s hard to pass up what seems to be that kind of value
On my board – on which I spent hundreds and hundreds of seconds researching formatting into my spreadsheet – I have the top four QB prospects ranked 5th, 8th, 15th and 22nd overall.
It’s a weird year. There were almost no RBs in the top players, but we consistently reach (by consensus value anyway) for RBs in this league because they’re so relatively rare. So some guys that were rated as end of the first guys went way up high, and I guess you have to overdraft against typical ratings to grab one. On the other hand, QB city and apparently like 20 WRs that look pretty good.
Take your time, I’m confident you’ll make a mistake no matter how long you think about it.
