SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year Eight

That trade looks kind of wonky to me. All the rankings I see have them roughly equivalent in value, but those draft picks are nowhere near equivalent.

Honestly, I don’t even know, it’s just a gut feeling. I’ve never traded up in the 1st round before, but I just think Coleman will be a superstar.

That’s good news. Since Gordon and Pryor will also be superstars, that means the Browns offense will score 1100 points this year.

And with the defense only giving up 950 points, that’s a playoff run.

I feel super-iffy about it, very nearly backed out. I just like Coleman’s film a whole lot more. He pops off the screen, and every other play he’s catching a touchdown pass. (Seriously: Baylor only threw 389 passes last year and he had 20 TDs; that means 5.1% of Baylor’s passes resulted in a Corey Coleman touchdown reception, which is nuts.) Doctson puts his body in great position has a big effective catch radius with sure hands, but otherwise looks unremarkable to me. I only said yes to the trade because I’m assuming all those people who do ranking lists or scouting reports are seeing something I don’t and that’s why Coleman and Doctson are always rated about the same.

Beef and I agreed to a trade for the current pick, which I unsurprisingly use to take:

1.09 Sterling Shepard, WR, NYG

Why yes, I am still bitter that I took Jordan Matthews instead of Odell Beckham, thanks for asking.
Trade details coming shortly, but I wanted to get the 2 hour timer started.

Alright, I’m trading 1.09 to Ellis Dee. He’s giving me his second rounder next year in exchange for my third rounder next year with a couple of conditionals.

He gets: 1.09, Beef’s 2017 3rd rounder
I get 2.03, Ellis Dee’s 2017 2nd rounder

Conditionals: if the difference between the two picks is less than 10 (because he’s at the bottom of the second and I’m at the top of the third), he gives me his 4th for my 5th.

If the difference is more than 20 (because he’s got the first or second pick and I’ve got the 11th or 12th pick in those rounds), then he gets my 4th for his 5th.

Those conditions are dependent on us having picks in those respective rounds. If those picks don’t exist because we don’t have enough players the conditionals go away.

The conditionals probably won’t go into effect, but let’s make things a little more complicated for Varlos.

Did I get the wording right?

Looks correct, yes.

The idea is a straight my (high) 2nd next year for Beef’s (low) 3rd next year, assuming we both finish in roughly the same positions we usually do, as payment for me moving up six spots this year from 2.03 to 1.09. (We’re expecting it to be around 16 spots: 17th for 33rd or so.)

If things go completely nuts and we finish very differently than expected, we swap 4ths and 5ths in whatever direction is needed to even it out. Unless we don’t have those picks (because we aren’t dropping enough players) in which case the conditionals are void.

Woops, meant to say “if those picks don’t exist because we don’t have enough draft slots” - in other words, this doesn’t obligate either of us to cut 5 players in order to make those 5th rounders exist. But if he has 4 picks and condition 1 is met, I’d get his 4th pick for my 5th. And vice versa for condition 2.

Hamlet is up - you can send him the PM if you haven’t since the pick is yours. We’ve got a 2 hour minimum - so the earliest the pick can be made is 10:16 eastern.

I hope RNATB is alright. His participation around the boards has been spotty due to work lately. I wonder if he just forgot about the draft. I sent him e-mails at both his registered yahoo FF address and the address he has on his profile on the sdmb.

Looks ok, but I’m already dreading the rules-interpretation nightmare that’s going to ensue in 361 days…

Good pick. My finger has been hovering over the PM button all day and I almost took Beef up on his offer to grab Shepard, but I just couldn’t do it for some reason.

I feel like I should be trying to move up and escape my 3rd Round prison, but I just don’t know. I’ll definitely listen to any trade offers, but I don’t know who I have that anyone would be interested in or who I’d even be willing to give up.

hehheh.

Looks like I get to take the rest of the week off, with 18 picks until I’m on the clock again.

Boo. Always send Beef your offers.
I think it works out for both of us. I’ve got more WRs than I can use - I would rarely start a guy who’s probably a high floor WR2 at best, but a player is probably an every week starter for Ellis. Similarly I don’t feel that strongly about any of the non-WRs available at the pick, so I might as well move down a pick and see what shakes out.

I’m here. Sorry - ridiculous day at work, followed by another live draft (and the boards are blocked at my new office). Conveniently, the guy I was going to take is still there. PMing Beef.

1.01 Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dal - RetroVertigo
1.02 Laquon Treadwell, WR, Min - Petey
1.03 Kenneth Dixon, RB, Bal - Ellis Dee
1.04 Derrick Henry, RB, Ten - Jules Andre
1.05 Corey Coleman, WR, Cle - VarlosZ
1.06 Tyler Boyd, WR, Cin
1.07 Tajae Sharp, WR, Ten
1.08 Josh Doctson WR, Was
1.09 SenorBeef
1.10 Hamlet
1.11 furt
1.12 VarlosZ

I am still open to moving DeAndre Hopkins, Lamar Miller and/or Brock Osweiler. Would probably only take an equally good player at the same position(s) at this point.

Did anyone have a problem with this? I’d have an additional third round pick (or rather, I’d have a third round pick).

It’s actually Hamlet that’s up.

You know I’m interested in Miller, so start that dialogue up with me again and tell me what you want.

I don’t think I can see a path to a trade that works for both of us. You don’t have a good enough running back to send me back (except McCoy, who I won’t take because I always get the feeling he’s going to be injured).

You’re not willing to take some combination of WRs and/or draft picks?

I sweat a bit debating between Sharpe and Shepard. Ultimately I landed with Sharpe because I like the idea of a long term Mariota to Sharpe connection with little competition in Tennessee, and Eli’s getting up in years, Beckham ain’t going anywhere and Cruz is still a factor.

That said I loved Shepard going into the draft and I think he can be great in spite of his size, I also have learned the hard way not to overrate pre-season performances and haven’t actually seen Sharpe live yet. I’m curious what you all think of the comparison.

If you’d had the #1 pick this year, yes, but I’m not a big fan of anyone in this class after Elliott. I’m in a position to win now, and I’m not going to undersell Miller/Hopkins just because I don’t like having a lot of Texans shares. I might see things differently after a few games if Demaryius produces even with Simeian.
