I’m not following this logic at all, in that I don’t see how there could be any question how it works.
If you and I swap last picks right now, ownership is transferred right now. If tomorrow I turn around and swap last picks with Omni, obviously it’s your original last pick I’m trading to Omni, not the pick I already traded to you and no longer have any ownership over. Of course “last pick” trades are processed chronologically; ALL trades are processed chronologically. Just imagine players instead of draft picks being traded. If I trade Jarvis Landry to you, I can’t then trade Jarvis Landry to Omni the next day because I no longer have Jarvis Landry.
Added Hillman to Omni’s keepers – sorry about that.
Sent another PM to RNATB. We’ll give him a little longer. He’s still in Florida, right? And I seem to recall he’s, like, a lawyer? With a 9-to-5? So presumably he should be awake in the next couple hours, hopefully we’ll start moving again soon. If not we’ll start skipping him, with a mandatory gap of a couple hours between picks. We do have to pick up the pace, though.
The issue of dale’s/Jules’ draft picks is, as far as I’m concerned, already settled. If dale would like to drop an additional player to get his draft pick back I’ll allow it, but he can’t wait too long on that. The question of whether Beef winds up with dale’s 4th or 5th round pick is 95% arbitrary, but I tend to see the unbalanced trade as forcing a retroactive keep (of sorts) on dale’s roster, which means he only has picks in the first four rounds, which means his “last pick” for trade purposes is in the 4th. Put another way, it’s a question of what order we wish to do our bookkeeping in; I think we settle dale’s roster (cuts, etc.) to get him to 25 first, then dole out any conditional draft picks. Again, this isn’t the only way to conceptualize the process, but, well, it is the way we’re gonna do it
Alright, I guess we’ll go ahead without him for the moment. We’ll put a two-hour halt on drafting after every pick, both to give him a chance to come back and to avoid the draft being compressed so much there can be no trade talks.
I’ll send out a PM to the next several people in the draft order. Omni is now on the clack.
I got a couple of reasonable offers for Parker, which I may take, but not a young RB which is what I was hoping for. I still may take those deals, but if anyone has a running back to deal (and I’d be willing to package something else like my 1.09 for a good one) get back to me soon.
After some research I found out I may be undervaluing him. He apparently goes in the late 2nd/early 3rd rounds in startup dynasty leagues. I didn’t feel like his situation was great enough to justify being like the 25th most valuable dynasty player (and seems to be rated higher than any WR in this draft), but people seem to be treating it as though he already broke out as a star rather than seems like a budding one. But I may end up holding for a year to see if they’re right.
If anyone likes someone who fell to this point, I’m willing to trade my first rounder (and last pick) next year for a first and third next year.
So you get 1.09, next year’s last pick. I get your next year’s 1st and 3rd. If you’re a team that finished in the bottom half of the league this year (top 6 pick) I’d probably be willing to waive the “and a third” part. Just straight up you get get a first rounder a year early.
Varlos gets:
WR Josh Doctson
Pick 2.8
I really came to prefer Coleman over the past couple days, but that’s just from the eyeball test, and by objective measures they’re very close in value. So, I feel like I’m gonna regret this, but the value is too good to pass up. I mean, before the draft, if someone has told me I would get Josh Doctson with the 5th pick, I would consider that a win, so to get the 2.8 pick thrown in is gravy.
That said, if somenone here is especially enthusiastic about Doctson, I’m not opposed to trading him. Beef can pick starting at 6:20.
I’m working out the details of a pick swap with someone who’s offline at the moment, so it may be a bit. In the meantime, I’m still willing to do the 1.09 for a first next year + sweetener thing if anyone is interested in that.
Stringer, I’m guessing you have a hardon for Coleman since you were willing to pay a second rounder to get him instead of Doctson (who most people feel is worth about the same). Just as a Browns fan in need of some excitement, sell me on why he’s great.
