SDMB Fantasy Football DYNASTY League: Year Seven

Making the wildcard isn’t as crazy as a possibility as it seemed a few weeks ago. I’m only one game behind furt and Justin and about 30 points behind on the tiebreaker. My team has been trending upwards. There’s actually a ton of competition for the wildcard slot with 7 teams at 6-5 or 5-6 right now.

Phew.

Whoever implemented division scheduling in the last few weeks - that was a good idea. It would normally look like the division leader is fairly secure at this point, except that during the last few weeks having so many division games gives the other people both a direct chance to beat the leader and a chance to make up some ground in the division standings tiebreakers.

Varlos has 2 actual games and one divisional record tiebreaker game over JB and furt, as well as a definite points advantage tiebreaker. He’d have to lose out to give someone else a shot at the division. Given his projections, it’s unlikely. Furt and Bailey are pretty much equally poised to steal the division in that case - it would come down to who won when they play each other in week 13.

Hamlet also has a 2 game lead on Midwest, but there’s a 3 way tie at 2-1 in the division with Stringer and Omni. If either of them beat him, they’d be a game behind him with the tiebreaker advantage. If they both beat him, their game vs each other in week 14 would determine the division leader. Both have a substantial points lead on him, so tying the wins/division wins would give one of them the division. This is actually the division most ready for a last minute change in division leader.

RNATB has a 3 game lead on Sunbelt. Petey and I share the same record, but I have a 1-2 divisional record whereas he has a 0-3 record, which means he (being 200 points behind) couldn’t practically contest the division leadership. I’d have to win out, and RNATB would have to lose out - that’s the only way that changes.

Wild card race is very tight, though.
JB and furt are 6-5, Stringer Omni Petey and I are 5-6. Stringer has a significant edge in the points tiebreaker. JB, furt, Omni and I are all within 22 total points scored.

furt plays JB this week, which unfortunately for everyone else means they both can’t lose - whoever picks up that game will have a significant edge going into the last two weeks.

I’m motivated to get a defense before the trade deadline, so if you like something on my roster, make an offer. I’m also willing to consider trading a second or third round pick for one depending on quality.

I’m still looking to deal a receiver for a RB. Demaryius Thomas, Allen Robinson, Martavis Bryant, Travis Benjamin, Jordy Nelson, take your pick.

My top starters are all healthy for the first time all season. I can’t wait to see how the wild card race shakes out.

Usually I go into the final division games needing to go 3-0 and for somebody else to go 0-3 in order to have a shot. This year I’m virtually assured of the division title; I just have to win one of the next three (and even if I don’t I’ll take the wild card unless **furt **or **Justin **wins out). So that’s nice.

I’ll give you Abdullah for Martavis. Obviously he hasn’t done much this season but he’s looked electric here and there, and he’s clearly the future in Detroit. Plus, you have pretty bad luck with WRs and the substance abuse policy.

I’ll look into Abdullah and get back to you. Thanks for the offer.

Did we come to set a rule in regards to whether future draft pick trades have to be numerically balanced? I’m working out a trade that involves a future pick, and I can’t remember the details of how we handled it.

They must be balanced.

Ah, yeah, found the post where it was made official.

Thinking about it, you’re not really “losing” the pick you’re trading back to someone at the end of your draft anyway. You’d cut 6 guys to get picks through round 1-6. But you’re getting an extra draft pick in a trade, so now you have 6 slots on your roster and 7 draft picks. Sending back the last draft pick doesn’t actually take anything away from you, since you wouldn’t be able to use it anyway. Is that the right way to think about it?

Okay, trade to announce:

Dale gives up
Denver D
Johnny Manziel
Last round pick 2016

SenorBeef gives up
2nd round pick 2016
Cleveland D
James White RB

Hmmm. Scrub-for-scrub, so it amounts to a second round pick for the Denver D. That’s a pretty good deal for Beef, though I suspect the Broncos will be hemmorhaging defensive talent in the offseason.

Yeah, it’s mostly a 2nd round pick for Denver. Dale has Dion Lewis, so he’s got the Patriot passing RB down whether Lewis is able to come back from injury or not. I haven’t suddenly gained faith in Manziel but I almost never actually have any real backup QB. Right now it’s Hasselbeck just to have some sort of startable person if Rodgers goes down.

Cleveland D was kind of a throw-in, but it’s entirely possible they become a pretty good fantasy defense with a change in coaching. I’m worried I’m going to regret it due to the homer implications.

Okay, haha, this is just comical. It didn’t take long for that deal to get significantly worse for me.

Manziel has just been relegated to third string with the coach wanting to cut him. Manziel went from starter with potential for 8 games to instant bust a couple of hours after I traded for him.

Holy shit, Yahoo now keeps track of future draft picks that have been traded. Didn’t know you could do that.

It’s been an option since last year, people just don’t generally bother to include the picks in the actual yahoo trade, but only mention them in here. Of course the way I did it was just as a reminder (getting back his 25th round pick) since we don’t know what pick that will be, and you’ll be entering it manually anyway.

This league is tough when you lose all your running backs to injuries. My team isn’t really good enough to justify trading future picks for RBs and obviously there is no help on the wire.

RIP Foster, Lynch and Forsett.

Yeah, the Lynch injury is really tough because there’s no way anyone could have known that Rawls would be the handcuff to own.

In other news, I have officially spent all of my FAAB budget for the first time in years. Basically I dropped half on Osweiler (who could be my QB of the future) and half on Spencer Ware, who’s just a flier but looked amazing last week.

In related news, Foles is going for a song.

I knew Ware would go for more than the $20 I threw down, but i never would have guessed that $67 would be the top bid. Good pickup.

Yeah, objectively I overspent but it’s the end of the season and the chances of anyone new worth rostering are… slender. Plus I finally have enough talent on my team that I don’t have to bother wasting roster spots on a bunch of guys who might be useful in three seasons (looking at you, Robert Turbin) so I don’t need to save any money to pick them up in the last week.
