I don’t secretly like Allen, I just need to solve my backup QB situation. Rodgers is getting up there in age and I need the future settled, and I need to make sure someone is available to start if he goes down, and that derailed me last year, and carrying two backups who may get killed behind bad lines is better than one.
Allen is probably a bust, but if he does succeed, he has tremendous upside. He has the investment of his franchise and the opportunity that comes with it. Darnold is a much better bet, but taking a backup plan with high upside isn’t a bad place to go with the last pick of the third round.
SenorBeef granted me assistant commissioner privileges in order to help look at the draft order and get everything straightened out so that players were visible within Yahoo during the draft. I’ve corrected the divisions to place teams based on where they were last year, placing **Ol’Gaffer **in the Midwest to replace Stringer since he took Stringer’s draft slot. That puts Overly Sentimental in the Northeast Corridor to replace Varlos.
I’ve also fixed the schedule. I used Varlos’ old manual schedule rules, for the most part. The schedule is formatted as follows:
Divisional weeks are week 1, 3, and 6, then 12, 13, 14 to close out the season. The two triplets are formatted based on last season’s finish in the division: 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3, then 1 vs. 3 and 2 vs. 4, finally 1 vs. 2 and 3 vs. 4. This last one will close out the season, which was a fun wrinkle when Varlos set it that way.
Non-divisional weeks are therefore 2. 4. 5. and 7-11. These weeks were formatted using a schedule generator online, which I have uploaded to Google Docs if anyone wants to see the template I used. This template is based on last year’s finish in the division, so there is probably enough movement to use the same template each season. But I figured I’ll just shift the non-divisional games down one week, skipping the divisional weeks (so week 2’s format moves to week 4 the next season) each season to provide some variance.
Hats off to you and Beef for doing this.
Shouldn’t it be helmets off? Or maybe taking a knee for you and Beef?
Pick 4.08 J’Mon Moore WR GB
Can someone send a PM? I’m on a phone.
4.09 Nyheim Hines, RB, IND
Thanks Jules, that was very helpful. I’ll leave you as assistant commissioner in case I’m abducted by aliens and taken for indefinite butt experiments like Varlos was.
It’s only an abduction if he went unwillingly.
Sent Jules a PM just in case.
I did not expect some of the players available to fall this far, so clearly you all have made some disastrous choices that will set your franchises back for generations. I was in danger of spending hours and hours on this pick, watching film, breaking down technique… but it’s a flyer on a 5th round pick. Whatever, I’ll swing for upside.
Pick 5.01 D.J. Chark, WR, Jax

Dang, that’s gotta be frustrating. If only you’d cut a couple more players, you could have had 6th and 7th round picks and really picked up some gems.
Forgive the OCD, but 6 minutes after I posted the most recent review I noticed that the team abbreviation capitalization is all over the place, and that’s my fault due to my spreadsheet using all caps for teams. So here’s an update with that corrected.
