I know you’re joking, but just to clarify: The “FAAB Bids” list only includes players who were bid on by multiple owners. You were the only one who bid on Peterman so it’s not in the list.
I feel heartened that both bids I placed were also bid on by other owners.
Now I’ve had some time to reflect, let me take a look at my roster:
In retrospect I guess I should have taken the second pick of the new owner draft. Would have been better to pick Kamara and one of Brown/Beckham. But as it was, since this is my only fantasy team (!), I wanted to have my guy Antonio Brown as the anchor. He’s simply my favorite guy to watch, and I don’t love Beckham as much as everybody else. Missing Kamara is a blow, especially since the pool at RB was
LeSean McCoy
Alvin Kamara
Duke Johnson Jr
CJ Anderson
Theo Riddick
Johnathan Stewart
CJ Prosise
Giovanni Bernard
Rex Burkhead
Rod Smith
Javorious Allen
Malcolm Brown
Can we take a moment and reflect on what an awful pool that is to try to make TWO teams out of? Kamara’s great, Shady might have one or two seasons left, and then a whole whole bunch of dreck.
Even worse, drafting in the last spot, I had to reach for any RB with a shot at carries. I admit to knowing little about Kerryon Johnson except for being aptly named, so I’m definitely hoping for big things from him. Otherwise I’m hoping some chap named John Kelly can emerge in the shadow of Gurley, and banking on steady production from (ugh) Duke Johnson.
I do have a nice fleet of WR though. Brown is obviously my rock. I think Davante Adams could legitimately be the overall WR1 if Rodgers stays on form for last few years of his peak. Then if only one or two of Watkins/Doctson/Parker/Cobb/Richardson/Ross find WR2 value I’m golden with skill to spare.
Watson has to be the most electrifying option at QB. He feels like a guy who’s going to have peak-Vick years of production but will, Vick-ly, probably average 12 games a year with injury. So he’s well insured with Goff who feels like the definition of a steady-Eddie. Tyrod Taylor is going to have several more useful fantasy years (after this season, obv) as he journey-mans around the league to finish his career so I am hoping he’s a trade bait stash for me.
I reached up I think to take JAX and BAL at the cost of getting Ertz or Olson, probably a mistake, because then I had to reach in the new draft to get Kittle. I like his future but he’s much more of a dice roll than either of those two guys.
Its hard to say if I valued defenses appropriately, given the fluctuating fortunes of teams year to year, but I certainly have two which are performing well now.
I signed a kicker, also. Because they clearly seem as useless in this format as any other.
So in the meantime, I’m catching my breath trying to get up to speed with you guys, and praying for rain at RB.
Jesus Christ my team shit the bed. The original yahoo projections were a bit optimistic, but still, yikes. How bad is my team? The only bright spot is the Cleveland Browns!
Starter performances in % of projection actually earned:
116% Jarvis Landry (Go Browns!)
105% Carlos Hyde (Go Browns!)
103% Steelers DEF
76% Sterling Shepard
68% (Kicker)
55% Devin Funchess
55% Big Ben
54% Christian McCaffrey
42% Jamison Crowder
9% Travis Kelce (Et tu, Travis?)
My total points is now final at 84.65 with nobody playing Monday night, and everyone else in the league looks to be comfortably in triple-digits this week.
Technically, I can still lose. If Detroit doesn’t score again (or goes for two), and Cooper is held catchless or gets hurt. Yahoo says that is only an 8% chance, which sounds about right. Maybe 15% with my luck.
Looks like it. The most baffling, improbable result of week 1 caused my defense to score the lowest possible score. Highest projected team score in the league, second lowest actual score. I see fantasy football hasn’t changed.
