Loving that Hamlet loss.
Well, good thing I didn’t bet on that undefeated thing, I’ve suffered two straight losses after I won what I predicted to be the toughest week.
I’m really vulnerable to off days by the Green Bay offense. And I really fucked up the Browns (-1) vs Rams (33) DST decision. Ultimately irrelevant.
I’m actually #2 in my division now behind Petey. With all of the competition over the wildcard spot, there’s a chance I could miss the playoffs.
Shit. I’ve still got a one game lead, but two would have been nice.
Take them for what they’re worth, but current projections say Hamlet gets the #1 seed at 12-2, I get the 2 seed at 11-3, Varlos wins the Northeast division by 2 games at 11-3, And Petey gets the wildcard at 10-4. Omni is 3-3 despite (barely) having the highest score, and is projected to finish out 3-5 the rest of the season, missing the playoffs by a wide margin with a 6-8 record. Stringer and Bailey also miss out on the wildcard.
The “power rankings”, which is a projected total points throughout the season including the playoffs, has Hamlet projected to have the highest score through the rest of the season, with me in second and Stringer in third.
Brian Hoyer still isn’t on IR for some reason, even though he was put there quite a while ago. Can we make a rule saying when a player is actually designated on IR, we can drop him and have him re-added to our rosters on IR whenever yahoo actually gets around to updating his status? I’ve been unable to use that roster spot for over a week because yahoo is taking their sweet time to set their flag.
It took them forever to move Malcom Floyd to IR as well, and I had to wait until they did to use the roster spot. Hoyer was only added to the real IR on Saturday so it hasn’t been a week.
I have no problem with changing the IR rules, but I’m not so sure yahoo allows it.
You’d have to drop the other player to pick him up and move him to IR anyway.
A couple people were asking about trading for some of my pieces a few weeks ago, and at the time I didn’t have the bandwidth to process offers, so I put it off. Work and family life has calmed down now, but if I’m going to trade major pieces I don’t want to short-change myself on what is offered. Therefore, I’m going to post here that I am looking for '14 draft picks and/ or young building blocks.
QBs: Brady, Freeman
RBs: Chris Johnson
WRs: (if someone wants to blow me away for) AJ Green
Yikes. I consider betting on an undefeated record and I lose 3 in a row.
Yep, that’s why I was eager take action on that: not because your team was secretly vulnerable, but because it’s just too easy for even the best teams to succumb to the pretty huge amounts of week-to-week variance. We only start 10 players, so if a few of yours have an off day and a few of the other guy’s break out…
Take my game this week as an example. I was projected to beat RetroVertigo big, 135-99 (and I do think Yahoo does a fair job with those projections). In fact I was projected to get more points out of every single starting slot (WR1 vs. WR1, RB2 vs. RB2, etc.).
So what went wrong? Well, Doug Martin got hurt and came out in the 3rd Quarter, but basically nothing wacky happened; it’s just that most of my guys finished on the low end of their expected ranges while most of his finished on the high end. I even got a huge day out of Calvin Johnson and San Diego’s DEF kicked ass against Jacksonville, while my opponent only got 5.4 points out of his QB, and no one on Retro’s team exploded for a crazy 220/4 TD day (highest score was AJ Green’s 24.5). My bench is outscoring his bench by a CRAZY margin. Etc.
Nonetheless, I’m going to lose this game by 25 instead of winning it by 35. That’s fantasy football. Can’t even be upset in this case since it’s not one thing.
Yeah, I gave it some thought and I realized how unlikely it was, but then I’ve had 13-1 type fantasy seasons before. In any case, I’m now in danger of missing the playoffs, so undefeated season seems like a lofty idea. I’ve had the most points scored against me in the entire league (third highest score this week so far, playing the first), and I’m 2 games behind for my division - 2.5 actually, given the divisional records - and the wildcard is a tough competition. It’ll be kind of ridiculous if I miss the playoffs this year.
Retro beats Varlos, so I guess if Bailey is winning his division, I have to like that, less competition for the wildcard. Hamlet being Stringer is superficially bad for the same reason, but it looks like he might have a better rest of season anyway to win that division. RNATB beat Omni by .52 points, who’s going to have a losing record with one of the top scores.
Crazy league this year.
Not that crazy; I still suck!
Ronnie Hillman, who was starting for Omni, fumbled on a goal line carry with 3:00 left in the game to cost Omni two points and steal the win away from him. As someone who has been screwed by fantasy football more times than I can count, I have a lot of sympathy for that kind of royal ass fucking.
Well I made my big waiver move of the season. I decided to invest heavily in Mike James. He has very little dynasty value, but he’s basically the only RB on Tampa’s roster. Of course if Doug Martin couldn’t produce in that situation, then James probably can’t. But it’s hard not to jump on a guy who’s going to get 20 carries a game for the rest of the season.
And I’m thin at RB. Daryl Richardson was benched, and Isiah Pead is never going to turn into anything. I have Richardson and Mathews on bye this week so I couldn’t even field 2 RB starters.
I usually make a big move relatively early in the season rather than risk ending the season with lots of money. I only outbid the next highest bidder by $23, so it’s not as huge a WTF move as I’ve made in the past. Still, that’s pretty much my big move for the season.
I need to rebalance my RB/WR ratio. I’m willing to move any of my WRs for equivelant-value RBs. Demaryius Thomas, Josh Gordon, Jordy Nelson, James Fucking Jones, Kenbrell Thompkins, Lance Moore, Cordarelle Patterson, Stephen Hill, Marvin Jones. Send offers.
I’m also willing to move Jordan Cameron or Gronk. I’d even consider packaging them with a WR for a top RB. Take your pick, make an offer.
I’ll give you Brandon Jacobs for Jordy Nelson.
I’m still looking for a RB or WR and I sent out a few trade proposals this morning. But if you’re looking to unload an older player who still produces for youthful potential or draft picks, let me know.
Anquan Boldin?
Check your PMs.
Trade announcement! I get Andre Ellington and Justin Bailey’s first round pick. He gets Anquan Boldin.
Goodbye, old friend. You were the heart and soul of this team. sniff
