SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Five

Surprised people are so high on Manziel. I mean, I like him as an NFL prospect, and would certainly go after him if he slid to the bottom of R1 in our draft (I have the 12th pick, dontcha know), but at the end of the day he’s still a QB, and one with a lot more uncertainty around him than the likes of Luck and RG3. Sam Bradford didn’t go until the 16th pick, Cam Newton (a pretty good comp) didn’t go until the 5th overall, etc. I’d totally take Sammy Watkins ahead of him, and I’m sure one or two RBs will improve their status on the depth chart before we draft. I’m guessing Manziel will still be there for **Ellis **at #2, if he wants him.

Yeah, I’m torn between Watkins and Mike Evans. Manziel is more of a top 10 pick than a top 2 pick, but it’s hard to pass up what could be a franchise QB. I’m not personally sold on him, though; this feels like Weeden 2.0 to me.

It’s hard to imagine two quarterbacks more different than Manziel and Weeden. Or is that just a “lol Browns” thing?

I’ve got two decent fantasy QBs with Cam and Cutler, so I highly doubt, barring injury or some off the field incident, I’ll be grabbing a QB in the first round.

As we get closer to the season, I’ll definitely be listening to trade offers for some of my picks

Bishop Sankey seems to be the consensus best RB/WR among the rookies. But Manziel could be a great quarterback that runs too. The question becomes “Will he be Cam Newton 2.0” or just a regular run-of-the-mill QB? I’m leaning towards the former.

Did you watch him in college? The number of times he was bailed out by Evans is unreal. They had a big tight end who did it too. He just tossed the ball up in the air with no idea where it was going. He’s going to bust, and bust hard.

I never watch college football. I’m just going by what draft analysts are saying. And yes, some are saying he’s heading for bustville.

I have seen him on person and will tend to agree. The game against Mizzou Evans was kept in check and at time Manziel looked pedestrian. He ended up with good numbers but it took them playing from behind to do it.

I hope he does good for Cleveland’s sake, but hope he sucks for his own. He comes across as too entitled for my liking.

I’m not sure if that means I should be all in on Evans, though. He’s going to have a harder time outmuscling/outjumping defenders at the NFL level, though he should at least be single covered while V-Jax is opposite.

That article is talking about regular leagues, where you redraft every year. For dynasty leagues he’s not a consensus #1. The two big skill position guys for dynasty seem to be Watkins and Evans.

It’s time for the Year Six thread!

I have decided I need a top-flight TE. Right now my options are basically Jordan Reed and Tim Wright. Willing to trade picks or RBs (I have 7 startable guys right now in Bernard, Ellington, Vereen, Ingram, Woodhead, Miller, and Rashad Jennings). I’m looking to pick up a top-flight WR too.

Andre Ellington is mine.

Ok, I’ll post the new league thread some time tomorrow. If anyone remembers and/or has any ideas we want to bring up, send me a PM and maybe I’ll include it in the OP. Right now I can’t think of any pending rule proposals that need to be discussed.
