SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Four

60, plus a W/R/T flex.

$94 does seem a little high to me, though I’d figured that that’s about what it would take … does anyone else care to disclose their bid? (I actually forgot to put one in, but would’ve thrown out $25-$30 even though I have zero need for him.)

Keep in mind that **Beef **needs WRs and is in “win now” mode, and this was probably his best chance to claim someone who could help him this year. OTOH, Ogletree’s got two young, very talented players ahead of him on the depth chart (plus Jason Witten, who will get the 3rd most receiving yards on the team if healthy), and, hey, I saw that game: it’s not like Ogletree put up his good numbers because he’s really talented or anything. He was facing the dregs of a banged-up secondary, and probably half of his yards were the direct result of blown coverages/miscommunications.

Still, not an unreasonable waiver claim.

You can see it on Yahoo:

Exploding Pancakes $94 Added.
The Gusterrhoids $20 Outbid
9 Inch Neils (RNATB) $12 Outbid
Isotopes $10 Outbid

I have no problem with the claim, there are usually only 5 or 6 FAs worth claiming in this league each year so it’s smart to go all out for a guy you really want. I just don’t think Ogletree is that good.

I gambled. It’s risky because Ogletree isn’t anything special, but a Dallas third WR has come out of nowhere to be a productive fantasy player for several years now. I’m basically gambling that Ogletree will be this year’s Laurent Robinson, and as far as players that can be had on waivers, that’s pretty good.

I’ve been thinking with the relative scarcity of waiver wire players worth anything, people would start throwing more money at them, but apparently I jumped the gun on concluding that, since no one else seems to have done that.

By the way, I’m the guy who bid $100 on Stephen Hill, so you can’t use that as evidence that people are going crazy this year, since maybe I’m just going crazy. But it’s different in the big league - there are almost no useful players on the waiver wire, and when there are, there are 20 teams desperate to get them - Stephen Hill is relative gold in that league.

Meh. There is always a running back who comes out of nowhere in midseason.

Who’d have thought Brandon would be a pretty big step up from Aaron Rodgers?

RNATB are basically tied, with his Turner against my Thomas.

That didn’t work out quite as I’d hoped. Even less so when I found out Turner got a DUI this morning.

Oh well. Other than Year 1, my teams have been uncompetitive yet just good enough to ensure I get a shitty draft pick, and it shows.

This week was a pleasant surprise for me! Go Willis McGahee Go!

Calvin Johnson (along with Larry Fitzgerald, and Dez Bryant, and Kenny Britt, and all of my other awesome WRs) is available for trade. I need a RB.

Would sir be interested in this late model Michael Turner? One careful owner. Also one who ran him into the ground.

144.83 projected points, sons.

[cough]146 ACTUAL points last week[/cough]

Oh, yeah, I don’t mean 144 itself is that great, but it’s rare IIRC for a projection to go that high. Big games from a few players and you can exceed 140, but it’s rarely projected that way.

I get Ryan Mathews back for my McCoy/Mathews/Richardson attack. You’re all gonna die.

Fuck… that is all.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

That was the most frustrating Giants blowout win I’ve ever watched. Andre Brown looked great – doesn’t have top-end speed, but he’s patient and shows *excellent *vision, coming away from a dozen runs that looked like they were totally stuffed with good yardage – and it’s not like Ahmad Bradshaw is a guy who can’t be knocked out of the starting lineup by a breakout reserve.

And I saw him play well last week as well, of course, but then I went and low-balled my waiver claim for him, even though I should know better than anyone (except Ellis) that his rushes were the only time the Giants running game has looked good all year (really since 2010), and mine is the most RB-needy team in the league.

Fuck.
ETA: Still looking to trade WRs (possibly including Megatron, Fitzgerald, or Dez Bryant) for RB help. RNATB, it’s possible I might consider Michael Turner, but not for a high price, since it may well be just the one year.

As the guy who picked him up, I will add my “fuck” because I didn’t start him.

Carolina’s D-Line is so fucking terrible so I’m not willing to crown Andre Brown just yet.

Made you an offer. It’s a high price, but I sweetened the pot.

This has become my favorite league. The sense of continuity helps breed rivalry, and we’ve got a good lineup of active owners. I find myself caring the most if I win or lose in this league.

Good thing I’ll be crushing you guys for years then.
