SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Four

I would be strongly for a removal of kickers in this league (and all fantasy football leagues.)

I’ve proposed it before but people won’t go for it. We can try again next year.

Yeah, I know. :frowning:

I would like kickers to be removed from fantasy altogether but it will never happen.

5 FGs for Dawson so far. Kickers.

On the plus side, Gordon looks like the best receiver in this draft. He had a TD called back by a silly illegal formation penalty, and he had a 40 yard TD negated a few games ago by a freakish drop where he got one of the sunbeams from between the roof gaps in his eyes at just the wrong moment. He should have 7 TDs in 4 games.

I’d be in favor of removing the Kicker position next year as well. I really hope we keep the message board draft format for next year as well.

What dale said.

I like having kickers, and not just because I’m good at picking them (in other leagues, anyway).

It’s pretty stupid that I can drop a kicker in league that goes 300 players deep, and still pick up the 3rd best kicker one week later. I have owned Tynes (#1 in the NFL right now) and dropped him without a second thought.

It’s stupid that nobody picked him up, yeah.

Looks like i’m losing to VarlosZ this week.

Doug Martin 53.20 holy shit…

Well hey, something good happened today. Decent chance Varlos would’v won with a 15 point day from Martin though, good day for him.

I have an outside shot at taking the #1 seed this week, if not then next week. Hamlet with a strong showing, he could pass Stringer in total points scored over the next few weeks with (currently) a 4-5 record.

But first I need to win this week. I’m down 3 points with Moore, McCoy, and Falcons D left to play - Bailey has Roddy White and Jason Witten.

Furt has a 9 point lead, Maclin and Henery against RNATB’s Turner and DeSean Jackson.

Omni has a 2 point lead, Jones, Murray and Gonzalez against Isotopes’ Dez Bryant.

Doug Martin! Doug Martin! DOUG MOTHER-FUCKING MARTIN!
Ahem. Sorry, it’s just such a relief to have a real RB on the roster at last, and of course I’m super jazzed about getting the Martin/Bryant trade in right before his explosion. Remember, it’s not just today’s game: last week he put up 34.9 points, and the week before that 19.7. Prior to the trade, in his five games on Petey’s roster, his best week saw him put up 14.1. Since the trade, in three games he’s put up 608 yards of total offense, 7 Touchdowns, 10 catches, and 6.7 YPC. He’s quickly becoming the focal-point of an offense that doesn’t suck.
tl;dr: I’m lucky! And a little bit good … but mostly lucky!
ETA: Oh, and Dez Bryant, whom I gave up to get Martin, is now in the midst of a minor controversy for staying out late. Personally I don’t think this is a big deal, and if I were a Cowboys fan I wouldn’t care at all, but it’s still nice not to have to worry about ant Bryant character shenanigans.

In other news, as long as Matt Ryan has a non-catastrophic 2nd Half, I should finish with the highest one-game total in the league this year, beating the 175.93 put up in Week 5 by Stringer (… Stringer, my victim today … mwa-ha-HA, and so forth).

And I might actually gain some ground in the division for once. **furt **looks like he’ll be able to pull out his game this week (basically has to fade a monster DeSean Jackson game), but the Gusterrhoids need to be considered a slight-ish underdog against **Beef **(I’d say their odds are, I dunno, 8:5 against). It also looks like Petey is gonna lose his low-scoring match against Omni, which means that **furt **and I would be tied for the wild card, each with a 2-game lead on the rest of the pack.

Hamlet, BTW, will be one of those teams that are two back in the WC race, and he scares the bejeezus out of me.

All time scoring leaders for this league:

  1. 2009 - Hamlet (202.60) vs Stringer
  2. 2009 - Hamlet (185.60) vs Stringer
  3. 2012 - VarlosZ (181.14) vs Stringer

I’m up by 18 heading into tonight where I’ve got nobody left and Beef has Lance Moore and LeSean McCoy. I think I’m doomed. Jared Cook screwed me, probably again.

After this week I’ll still have the division lead with a 6-3 (2-1) record and 1092.68 points versus your 6-3 (2-1) record and 1089.91 points. God damn is that a razor thin lead for me. And there’s still a very good chance furt pulls out a win tonight, so he’d keep pace recordwise but be about 100 points down on the both of us.

I play Hamlet in week 11 (just before the three-game in-division end of the season) and I am not happy about it at all. Two of us will make the playoffs and two of us won’t, but it is going to be ridiculously close.

So with all that said, I’M IN THE MARKET FOR A WIDE RECEIVER!

I can offer up a few young guys if you’re looking to rebuild for future years Alshon Jeffery, Rueben Randle, Blaine Gabbert), but my entire bench is available for the right price.

At first glance I thought you were an underdog heading into tonight but still very much alive (8:5 against was my guess, above), so seeing you declare yourself doomed made me wonder if that was just some kind of reverse jinx, so I tried to figure out exactly what your odds are…
**Beef **needs to score at least 18.3 combined points from LeSean McCoy and Lance Moore in the Monday night game to catch up to you. McCoy and Moore have each played 7 games so far. McCoy is averaging 14.7/g, with very little variance (he has a low of 9.3 and high of 20.2, and the other five games all fall within the very narrow range of 13.9 to 16.0). Moore is averaging 10.1/g, but with less consistency (he’s got a 0 and two 4s, along with three scores above a 15). Their combined averages equal 25.8/g, but that doesn’t really tell us much.

What we want to know is this: There are 49 possible combinations of a 2012 game from McCoy + a 2012 game from Moore. 39 of these 49 possible combination total 18.3 or more. (Highest: 41.2; Lowest: 9.3.) That suggests that Exploding Pancakes stands a 79.6% chance of coming back and winning their game this week, or about 4:1 against the Gusterrhoids.

Of course, McCoy is facing the Saints defense, which is allowing the most rushing yards per game, and the 4th most fantasy points to RBs, so we should expect that he has a better than average chance to put up a lot of points. I think that alone bumps **SenorBeef **up to at least 85% (11:2), and maybe even 90% (9:1).
tl;dr: yeah, you’re pretty doomed. Hooray!

My entire team is available for the right price.

James Jones for your entire team.
