SDMB FF Dynasty League: Year Four

Looks like I’ll turn in a respectable enough score, but I really thought it’d be my day with Green Bay in Detroit. McCoy went out with injury and Green Bay barely did anything. Still, looks good - biggest fear is Baltimore defensive TDs.

Yeah, if your three guys who each have a 2nd half to go all get injured or otherwise go totally silent, I’m right in this. OTOH, if each of them just repeats what they did in their 1st halves, then I’ll have to score 60 with Crabtree, a Kicker, and Baltimore’s D … which, even allowing for some Byron Leftwich-inspired kookiness, would be pretty impossible.

I’m sorry for your day Varlos. But on the other hand…

Andy Dalton = Best Trade Acquisition of the Year

Really really need Ray Rice to have a huge game tonight, ugh.

Love you Gronk.

RIP Gronk.

Clinched my division with 3 weeks to go, crazy.

Consider resting your starters.

I don’t know if Gronk is going to make it back for the fantasy playoffs. Big blow.

I got Hernandez ready to slide in and take all the Gronk points.

I was thinking I might do a little rundown of the divisional races to preview our three-week, season-ending, intra-divisional slate of games, but apparently two of the three divisions are totally sewn-up (**Beef **could theoretically still lose his lead, but *only *theoretically). And of course the Northeast Division has pretty much been a tie over the first 11 Weeks, and will just come down to which team has the most success in Weeks 12-14.

More than half the league is in the running for the Wild Card spot, though the 5-6 teams need for some really unlikely things to happen (**Hamlet **a little less so, who’s in good shape with the points tiebreaker, and just generally has a strong team).

Also, take note that the trade deadline is coming up, on November 20th. As always, it’s set as late as possible to allow for a real buyer & sellers dynamic. I’ll try to do what I can in terms of pushing the deadline back by fast-tracking trades if necessary, but don’t wait too long.

Maybe it has to wait till next year, but I want to re-open talks on including future draft picks with trades. I think we’ve all shown that we’re dedicated enough to this league that we’re not going to trade all our future away and then ditch the rest of the league or anything, so it would add a cool dynasty element to include future draft picks.

Yeah we should be allowed to trade draft picks. I would only be concerned if someone tried to trade like, their next 5 first round picks, completely mortgaging the future.

On that note, my first round pick for next year is on the trading block. I’m looking for an RB or WR.

I, too, would be in favor of limited future pick trading – that is, I think it would be a good idea to allow trading of picks from the next draft, but *only *the next draft. You want to limit it because, of course, it truly can be a way for an owner who’s not careful to irrevocably cripple his team for many years to come while acting in perfectly good faith.

OTOH, I think it would be a big boon to parity, or at least to some churn among the top teams. It’s pretty hard to swing deals for young, promising players, for several reasons: it’s difficult to assess their value, you need to find a specific kind of fit with a particular owner, we get attached to our good young guys and don’t want to give them up (except at prices that weaker teams don’t want to pay), etc. It’s just so much easier to send a draft pick to a rebuilding team, in every single way, which is good because draft picks are what those rebuilding teams need more than anything else.

It would be a big plus in so many ways, and if we limited it to picks from the next draft then you’d really only see it done once we’re at least halfway or so through the season and the teams that are out of it know that they are, so typically there just wouldn’t be much future that could be mortgaged, since there’s only going to be 2-3 months of league time (i.e. not counting the parts of the offseason when we’re all doing nothing w/ fantasy football) between a trade and the next draft.
Also: Go, Megatron! I need this fuckin’ game…

As a general rule I am against trading future draft picks. No hard feelings if/when I’m outvoted, but my vote is no.

Just wondering why? Trading future picks is a staple of most dynasty leagues.

I do take heart that Stringer now has to rely on the dynasty value of Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler.

I do want to trade for a non-terrible QB.

My game shouldn’t be as close as it is. Check out the bench scoring, I’m leading *that *171-47, even though I’m losing the actual game by just over a point (and should be a slight favorite heading into Monday night). Granted, that’s largely because half of Justin’s team is injured, but still. I could’ve built a roster just from my bench (plus my Kicker) that would have put up 144.65 with Greg Olsen still to play.
Also: Fucking Knowshon Moreno! I picked him (I think) in the 5th Round of our inaugural draft, watched him disappoint for three years, then I finally cut him a few weeks ago after he’d spent almost all of this season as a healthy scratch. Now after one injury he’s starting?! Gah!
