I completely forgot about both of them. They’re fine to add to my cut list. I’ll give up any rights to either player
Gotcha.

Alright, housekeeping should be almost done. Divisions are aligned, FAABs are set, and keepers have been entered. The only thing still to be done is to edit the schedule, but that’s not urgent.
-
I executed the two trades we’ve had so far: dalej42/Justin_Bailey (Ryan Williams for Andy Dalton) and dale/**Beef **(#1 overall pick for Jimmy Graham).
I *believe *I’ve got the latter trade squared away correctly. I just transferred ownership of the 1st overall pick to Exploding Pancakes, then transferred ownership of Beef’s draft pick that was being used to keep Jimmy Graham (it happens to be a 9th Rounder) to Warner’s Brothers. In the past we may have done this differently, with transferring a later pick from the owner giving a player to the owner giving a pick so as to make the numbers work, but if so I’m now thinking that there was a mistake somewhere and that this is right way to do it. Am I imagining things about previous off-season draft-pick trades?
In any event, I urge everyone to give their keeper list/draft order a quick pass to make sure it looks right, especially those of you who’ve been involved in a trade.
- I haven’t heard back from **furt **yet, but I went ahead and entered a projected, conservative cut list for him just so people preparing for the draft can get a sense of what it will look like – obviously I’ll edit furt’s keepers as soon as he joins us. The projected “cuts” that I made from the Fightin’ Quakers are:
QB Chad Henne
QB Vince Young
RB Deji Karim
WR Jeremy Kerley
DEF Jacksonville
4) You can see a list of all available players on the yahoo site now. Last year one of us wrote a script that organized the list into something a little more user-friendly, but I’m pretty sure that was Ellis, so unless someone else wants to step up to the plate we’ll all have to make do.
- Note that this year, for the first time, a team’s number of cuts does not necessarily equal its number of draft picks (this is because of the IR slots). Below is a list of how many draft picks each team has this year (number of cuts in parentheses):
2012 Draft Picks (cuts)
dale (Warner’s): 4 (6)
Omniscient: 4 (6)
Hamlet: 3 (5)
Ellis (Fanboys): 7 (7)
Petey ('Topes): 6 (8)
furt (Quakers): 5 (5) *projected
RNATB (9 Inch): 4 (6) *not including Mike Sims-Walker
VarlosZ: 5 (7)
RetroVertigo: 2 (4)
Bailey (Gusterrhoids): 5 (5)
Stringer (HGH): 4 (6)
Beef (Pancakes): 4 (4)
Still no word from furt, so as of now the start of the draft is officially pushed back one day to Tuesday, August 21st, at 12 Noon Eastern. If there’s still no word by around this time tomorrow we’ll do another one-day postponement, but after that I’d start to get nervous about time, and we’d need to have a discussion about options. (And I’ll need input, because I really don’t know what we should do in that case.)
Tangentially related: Yahoo decided to default everyone’s email address to “hidden” this year, which is kind of a pain in the ass sometimes. For anyone who specifically *wants *their email to stay hidden that’s totally fine, but for those of you who don’t care I’d encourage you take 30 seconds right now and un-hide (“Edit Team Settings” on your roster page.)
Furt hasn’t posted in a month and hasn’t logged in almost three weeks. So something is clearly going on with him out in the world (and I wish I knew when the appropriate time to worry should be). But I think it would work best to give temporary control of his team to someone else and open the message board draft on Wednesday at noon.
Slightly selfish side note, a September 1 draft would be impossible for me, so message board draft is definitely my preferred method.
He’s starting grad school, IIRC. Is it too late for me to re-cut Matt Hasselbeck?
No, that’s fine, so long as you confirm that that’s not an idle threat.
There have been a bunch of edits to the cut lists; once te start of the draft is locked down and imminent I’ll post a final, authoritative list of all cuts.
No, I’m serious. Titans announced Locker was the starter this morning.
Everything looks right on my team (although I wish I could bring it up on yahoo to make sure). I hope everything is alright with furt, but I haven’t heard anything.
Ok, we’re in business! I heard back from furt, who is, indeed, swamped with grad school, etc. I have a 1st Round pre-rankings list from him, so we should be good to go.
To give everyone time to assemble and take a moment to scout out potential trades and construct draft boards, The draft is going to start at 12:01 AM, Wednesday, August 22nd. I’ll send out a mass PM shortly to that effect.
Needless to say, we’ll need to move a lot faster than 12 hours per pick in order to get these ~60 picks finished within the next two weeks (we need an average of about half that, in fact). Therefore, it will be very important for us to be (relatively) ready for action when our respective picks come up.
-
When your next pick is near, make sure you have an idea of who you might be targeting and/or what types of trades you’ll be seeking out.
-
As soon as you post your pick, please PM the next person to let them know that they’re on the clock. I’m sensitive to the fact that it might be annoying for some to be continually pinged by PMs from this league, but I think this is an entirely reasonable measure in this instance.
-
If there’s some uncertainty about whether you’ll be around when your next pick, consider sending me a short pre-rankings list – you can specify whether I should draft off of it immediately, or only in the instance that your clock is about to run out (or anything in between). Label the PM as a pre-rankings list in the subject line and I won’t look at it I until I have to.
-
Because of the tight schedule, we won’t be able to give much leeway if your clock expires. If you want much of ANY leeway, at least post that you know you’re on the clock and you’re working on something. Regardless, at least at first, don’t jump ahead of someone whose clock has run out until I give the OK.
-
All that said, the 12-hour window exists for a reason, and you shouldn’t feel about using it. Just don’t waste it, is all. If you’re actively looking for specific trades, or you want to take a few hours to consider because you really unsure who you wan to take, that’s great. Just don’t let the clock run down hoping that your metaphorical phone will ring.
Good luck!
posted from the poker room at the Tropicana, where I scooped a $1,500 round about 2), above

Omni is up.
I suspect a lot of people are going to post “the #x pick is up for trade” and then wait 10 hours. Let’s try to avoid that. If you have a specific trade in mind, send someone a PM ahead of time, say “there’s a player that may be available in your slot, if so I may be interested” in which case that person can now reasonably wait for trade offers. But let’s be proactive about potential trades so the people whose pick it is don’t have to wait all day for them. If you don’t get any hints of a trade possibility by the time your pick comes up, go ahead and make the pick.
With the second overall pick, the Lauren Tannehill Fan Club formerly the Omnipotents, selects Andrew Luck, QB, Colts.
Hamlet is on the clock.
Early drafting is cool (and helpful, of course), but just to be clear the clock won’t start ticking for another 21 hours or so. That is, even if Hamlet (up now) were to somehow pull an epic no-show, his time wouldn’t run out until noon Wednesday.
There’s no real doubt with my pick. Although I am already pretty set at the QB position with Matt Stafford and Phillip Rivers (and young question-mark Matt Flynn), there is no way I can pass up on the third of the big three in this year’s draft.
Hamlet’s Cute Widdle Bunny select Robert Griffin III, hereafter known only as RGIII.
Ellis Dee is on the clock.
Did we decide what to do about furt?
He made a pre-rank list and gave it to Varlos.
Oops. Missed that.
Ellis is on the clock. Was he going to do the regular draft or did he send a pre-rank list? If his posts in other threads actually played out as described, he’s in the middle of an online enema and may not have access for a while.
Ellis Dee did say to me that he’s targeting the Giants’ 1st Round RB with this pick unless there was a clear no-brainer still on the board. With the first three picks having gone as expected, I don’t think that’s the case. Therefore:
***** With the 4th overall pick, Ellis Dee selects David Wilson, Running Back, New York Giants. *****
**Petey **is on the (stopped) clock.
