If nothing else, he’s a lottery ticket for a Gronk injury.
When does Free Agency open?
Trade to announce. I trade my 2015 #1 draft pick to furt for Jeremy Maclin.
Confirmed.
It’s a good fantasy trade for me, but it sucks to lose one of my favorite players on my favorite team. I wouldn’t be shocked if he blows up this year.
Wow Maclin is worth that much? Never had a 1000 yard receiving season, double digit TDs one season 4 years ago, missed the entire season last year…
Definitely. I looked at that and went “huh?”
But like I’m one to talk.
Well, keep in mind he was always #2 to Jackson; he’s a clear WR1 now. And there’s something to be said for getting a proven commodity now instead of getting a rookie that may or not pan out down the road. Half of the rookies taken in the first round will never pan out.
I’ll get our remaining ducks in a row tonight and players will be available on waivers by the morning.
dale, you’re going to have to drop someone (or give him to furt) to make room for Maclin (post who that is in the thread). And, as always, guys: it makes things a lot simpler for everyone if there’s a balancing pick going the other way next year. I’m close to making that suggestion mandatory by commissioner fiat for all trades involving future picks. Agreeing to send your last pick to your trade partner doesn’t cost you anything since you’ll presumably wind up forfeiting it anyway to make room for pick you’ve traded for.
I’ll drop a player later tonight. I strongly think we should always be able to trade 1st and 2nd round picks in the next immediate future year and I’d be angry if that was disallowed.
I’m 45 years old and I plan to play this league for at least 20 more years.
I picked Maclin over other trades because I’m excited over his numbers as a WR1 in the Foles/Chip Kelley offense.
It won’t be disallowed. I’m just being a little anal about the record-keeping being nice and neat for next year.
Ok . I am too, i enjoyed my draft positions this year. I’m dropping Denarius Moore, WR to make room for Maclin.

Ok, I think we’re all set to go. The draft is entered and everyone should have all their players on their roster. I think all the trades have been processed. Our schedule is set up, same scheme as in previous years (ending the year with three straight weeks of divisional matchups, etc.). The first game is Thursday night, so don’t forget to set your lineups.
Let’s have a great season!
I’m significantly ahead of places 2-3 on the power rankings (projected season long score for the league), who are in turn significantly ahead of the rest. That’s what I like to see, sons.
I’ve actually got the least points projected to be scored against me too, along with a 14-0 projected record. I know that’s not going to happen, but it’s looking bright.
I actually was only 10-20 points behind for scoring lead last year and that was with Aaron Rodgers out and being forced to start like, Jason Campbell at QB half the year.
My projection for my team this season is that I finish really strong.
My subjective impression of my roster is borne out by a little digging: it’s very deep. On your team page on Yahoo, there’s a little button in the top right where you can compare your team to someone else’s, and it just lists all 50 players from the two teams in order of projected value so you can see the distribution. Looking at my roster next to the other good teams, it’s pretty much always the same thing: among the top handful of players I’m even or usually behind (Calvin Johnson is my only super-elite guy), but then I dominate the rankings from roughly spots 6-30.
Looked at another way: I have 10 of the top 50 players according to Yahoo this season … but only 4 of the top 38. Of the 12 players ranked 39-50, half of them are on my roster.
I’m weak at the top of my roster, but I just have a ton of guys who can start, and almost all of them are young and realistic candidates for breakouts. So, my prediction is that as the season wears on and my team is relatively less affected by its injuries than other teams are by theirs, and as the players who are going to have breakout seasons identify themselves and my starting lineup gets optimized, my team will get stronger.
[checks Yahoo…] Shit, my schedule is actually really front-loaded. My first divisional games are Weeks 1-3, but then weeks 4-8 go: Isotopes, Exploding Pancakes, RetroVertigo, Hamlet, and We Do HGH. Not counting my divisional games against Justin, that’s my four toughest games in five weeks, and in the first half of the season, when I expect to be weaker. I really am going to finish stronger than I start.
By the way, Matt Ryan and Justin Blackmon are both sort of on the trading block this year. I may wind up hanging onto them, we’ll see, but the main thing I’m looking for in both cases is a 1st Rounder next year. I’ll definitely listen to player-centric offers too, of course, but unless I get killed by injuries and need an immediate star, it would have to be someone young.
Ryan I’ll probably keep for the start of the season at least to get a sense of how my QB position shakes out. Blackmon can be had any time with a great offer. Good offers I’ll probably think about for a while, since there’s no time pressure for anyone trading for him. (To the person who I’ve already talked to about Blackmon: I haven’t forgotten, just still thinking on it.)
I’d give you a first rounder next year for Matt Ryan. He’d be purely injury insurance for me, but the only glaring weak spot on my roster is backup QB.
Yahoo does the draft grades for our league, which are meaningless since there’s a lot of “I drafted Jamaal Charles in the 23rd round”
But this was funny:
Draft Grade: A+
“Loaded With Browns, Exploding Pancakes Has an Elite Squad With Championship Hopes”
Nobody has ever typed that sentence before!
Yeah, the grades for this league don’t really work because it counts keepers according to their draft position.
I’ve always been strongly in favor of forcing all trades to be balanced in terms of draft picks. Give a pick, get a pick. It’s almost certain I actively argued for this to be the standard when we first discussed trading future picks.
So consider me a supporter if you wish to enact such a rule by fiat.
I think we are ok with the unbalanced draft trading in this league. We remain consistent with owners from year to year. There’s only 12 teams. There aren’t that many trades of draft picks anyway to complicate things. I knew I was draft pick heavy coming into the season, but I knew I’d be cutting more players than usual for this year. Plus, the offline draft makes it easier to make the adjustments.
If it becomes an issue down the road, it can always be revisited.
